That is awesome to hear after feeling aimless earlier in the week. Hopefully this great session is just the start of a great period for you. Sometimes a kickstart is all you need to get that momentum up.
Whoever designed this thing did a horrible job.Yo, logging workouts is clutch, I’ve been there with the slump too, especially when the energy’s not firing right. Ran Forskolin a while back and noticed a decent pick-me-up, but GLP-1s took the training quality to another level for me, especially once the food noise quieted down. Those days when the weights just fly up without feeling drained? Pure gold. Just my two cents though, not a doc or anything.

Tried Forskolin but Glp1 took my training to a new level because I'm not hungry during my workouts anymore, now that I'm not eating any food the weights are flying up in the gym.
Pure Gold
@Admin this is the second post I’ve seen this dork make today randomly pumping up GLP1s in people’s logs. Please ban
There's like 20 posts that all start with something pertaining to the topic of the thread that immediately transitions into something sensational about a glp-1 and ends by saying to consult with your doctor, I made a post about how they all end with the doctor thing and now it's got a new twist@Admin this is the second post I’ve seen this dork make today randomly pumping up GLP1s in people’s logs. Thor is 6'9" and 440+lbs?Whether PL or BB. But that also made me feel weak AF.
Thor is 6'9" and 440+lbs?
Ever seen a man that big in his 90s?
I agree that a competition might be good for you for direction. Its too bad that CrossFit has gone downhill so badly because I think old school CrossFit would be up your alley. Your best athletes were rarely, if ever, 6' tall.
There are still lots of different barbell/strength based events and competitions out there, and we do have things like Wilks scores for a reason...
but knowing you these past years, it does seem like your passion is BB-

If you want to do one, you get to choose your own weight attempts in powerlifting. It only has to be as heavy as YOU decide. The question to consider is if you will let comparison be the thief of joy, or if you could just go enjoy the experience for what it is. But I also don’t think you need to do one for any kind of external validation.
Never a bad idea to do a strength meso once in a while, at least once a year, for bodybuilding, if your body feels up for it. Also, being smart with movement choices. Choosing machines to get stronger on is safer than free weights for that purpose.
What happened to CrossFit?Thor is 6'9" and 440+lbs?

When I got into xfit everyone said its gonna kill you, you'll get rhabdo, its dangerous. we trained for 2 hour sessions. we picked whether our specialty was endurance, PL, or Oly, and then the wods were the conditionining. we went to events every other month or so to find out who had built the best combination of oly, pl, gymastics, and cardio.
now they slam in you in and out of a box in 45 minutes.. you spend 15 minutes warming up, 5 minutes talking about the "strength" or "skill" work of the day. then you do a 7 minute wod. then you "cool down" and then you clean up. then you go to coffee with the other moms and meet up and lulu.
its not what it was. after we did a wod we'd slam a protein shake or aminos. look at the record board, then do another wod to see if we could beat a record. we'd hang out and work on muscle ups, hand stand pushups.
The oldest box in the nation was in my area, Rainier. They were a STRONGMAN gym that focused on strong man comps and used xfit as a conditioninig factor. now its all inclusive. they dropped "rx" and standards. its a complete joke now.

Yeah, in the early 2000s I loved watching CrossFit, but probably quit watching around 2010. I had no idea it had gotten so bad. They are trying to shove that crap down people’s throats in every part of society now.bruh, do both

I will definitely defer to Hyde on this, but considering you’ve been doing more bodybuilding style workouts for a while, with only 2 1/2 months to train for a PL meet, really isn’t enough time to do it properly and safely, in my opinion. There are a lot of good powerlifting programs out there, but trying to kickoff training and really go into prep to compete in 2 1/2 months just seems like too tight of a window. But I do think since you’ve been doing bodybuilding training for so long, that transitioning to a strength program like 5/3/1 would be great for you. And maybe just do it more for your own personal best, and look for a meet a little farther out to shoot for. And I agree with Hyde, if you do decide to compete, just do it for the joy of having your own personal goals to compete for. And let the drive of training for the competition help keep you motivated. And then no matter what your personal numbers are your a winner, because you accomplished the goal of competing. And I guarantee you if you set some strength PRs, when you do decide to get back to bodybuilding training, your muscles will grow even more than before because you’re coming back in stronger. One of the things I like about 5/3/1 is the flexibility of the program. You do 5/3/1 on the big 3 and OHP with BBB (Boring But Big) as some hypertrophy work, that’s a true powerbuild program that will not only build strength, but size as well. Of course you do want to feed those muscles as well.OK, so serious question:
I just found out there is a local gym hosting a PL style meet Oct 24th. That would give me basically 2.5 months to prep to do the 3 lifts (I can choose to also just do 2 of 3 in the format).
If I were to contemplate signing up,
1) Is that realistically enough time to get ready?
2) What would be the best program to help me regain strength and put up some at least respectable numbers again?
Note: I have not deadlifted in 2 months, and the top set there was only 160x6. All time PR all time was 305x1.
These days I am barely squatting and my bench weight/reps in this meso is only 165x6. All time PR was 215#.
we tend to be much harder on ourselves cause we are all lifetime gym rats. I have seen people sign up for their first gym membership and 2 months later sign up to go to an event where they humbly take last, but love the experience and 3 years later take podiums. in all age brackets. my most successful athlete was a 56yr old woman who got a trip to the Games to compete for a $million purse.
amen to that, and regardless of where the numbers come in, he won't be worse off. It just gives his training a purpose and he gains the experience he can carry with him whether he decides to keep at it or make a one and done type deal. That’s so true. We are the ones setting the standards for ourselves, and it’s entirely arbitrary.
I wanted a lifetime deadlift PR this meet. But my back delayed my training such that I am really just hoping to pull 600. Seg might be hoping he can TOTAL 600 with all 3 lifts without pain. John Haack can bench 600 raw at 220 with abs.
The numbers don’t actually matter - it’s just getting out there to do your best & hopefully have fun.
