Segansational's Motivation Log

That is awesome to hear after feeling aimless earlier in the week. Hopefully this great session is just the start of a great period for you. Sometimes a kickstart is all you need to get that momentum up.

Sometimes, it could just be the preworkout - you gotta get the right preworkout for the mindset!

Yo, logging workouts is clutch, I’ve been there with the slump too, especially when the energy’s not firing right. Ran Forskolin a while back and noticed a decent pick-me-up, but GLP-1s took the training quality to another level for me, especially once the food noise quieted down. Those days when the weights just fly up without feeling drained? Pure gold. Just my two cents though, not a doc or anything.

Whoever designed this thing did a horrible job.

Tried Forskolin but Glp1 took my training to a new level because I'm not hungry during my workouts anymore, now that I'm not eating any food the weights are flying up in the gym.

Pure Gold

@Admin this is the second post I’ve seen this dork make today randomly pumping up GLP1s in people’s logs. Please ban

Well, I suppose everything is a tool. I'm not on the GLP train for me at least right now so... it was actually interesting as I've seen several bodybuilders and coaches talk about it lately. There's half the camp in the definitely use it category - removes hunger and suffering at the hardest part of prep.

However there's the other half that sorta says, the suffering is the point. Almost like a badge of honor. Now there's also the potential downsides of it slowing gut motility too much when you need to force feed on show day / few days leading up and not really being able to.

So, interesting just theoretically for me at the moment.

Notes
Definitely not my favorite session this AM, and wasn't truly in the zone. But got it all done and then some.

Restocked this weekend. Here's what I picked up, some more creatine, multis, collagen, SNS daily stuff, and some more XPG gels. Also couldn't pass up some good bars and energy drink deals.

Random life stuff:

Getting excited for my short trip to Vegas! Because of the flight time and time changes coming back, I'm basically there for no time at all. But already booked two meals at some good looking restaurants, still gotta fit in a premium steak dinner somewhere, and am planning to work in a trip to the Newtech gym and probably Dragon's Lair session - mostly due to AM time constraints. Some of the other gyms like Fit Club don't open until like 8 AM on the weekdays, WTF??

Dinner tonight out with my wife, no kids. That's a treat in and of itself!

We also "inherited" a dog for the next month while my sister-in-law's family goes galvanting around the world. LOL. Kids are happy though, so another good "test run" for our family on whether a pup is in our future... wish us luck!

As I say this, my daughter came down and asked to walk the dog - so a good sign the kids are taking responsibility!

There's like 20 posts that all start with something pertaining to the topic of the thread that immediately transitions into something sensational about a glp-1 and ends by saying to consult with your doctor, I made a post about how they all end with the doctor thing and now it's got a new twist 😂

Bah, tomorrow is a deload day. Boring! I am thinking about doing a quick strength meso instead of hypertrophy next. Put RP on pause for a minute. Just found out a coworker did his first powerlifting meet. Super cool. Again, this just goes to show, maybe I just need to do something just to do it. Whether PL or BB. But that also made me feel weak AF.

Well, talked some sense into myself and decided if I was going to take the deload week there was no sense in testing out strength on top of it. Even though I came in wanting to grip it and rip it! Put away my ego for now.

But, I will probably start posting my ridiculously light weights again - mostly so that you fellas can shame me into lifting heavy again. Negative reinforcement!!

M6, Wk5, D1 - Deload Week, 8 RIR

Working sets,

Bench Press, 150x5
Machine Flys, 30x8
EZ bar curls, +25x9,9
Seated leg ext, 30x7,7
DB laterals, 10x7
BB Upright rows, 20x6

Finished up with more post-WO foam rolling/stretching.

1 hr 1 mins, 147 cals.

Pre: 1 scoop Ignition Switch, 2.5mg Y, 4 caps Rev02, 1g Vit C, 1g Choline Citrate, 2 pumps L-carnitine gel.
Intra: Same as usual, +10g Collagen. Effed up and threw it into my intra vs pre-WO.

Weigh-in: 159.6#
BF: 22.9%

Weekly weight trending up, while BF% trending down.

Notes
Well, right on cue - the joints in my pinky/ring finger on my right hand started bothering me while lifting this AM. Made it a little harder to give my grip a good squeeze on curls. It was like my body was giving me that "you're old" reminder since I had an inkling around chasing strength again!

Noting that with my 2nd day back on L-carnitine gel, I am sweating a little bit more than usual.

Here's the end of my meso focus based on muscle groups prioritization just in case anyone is interested.

Life Stuff
Wife and I had a nice dinner out last night, followed by a short stroll around the block, and then finished off the evening with some Jeni's ice cream.

Thor is 6'9" and 440+lbs?
Ever seen a man that big in his 90s?

I agree that a competition might be good for you for direction. Its too bad that CrossFit has gone downhill so badly because I think old school CrossFit would be up your alley. Your best athletes were rarely, if ever, 6' tall.

There are still lots of different barbell/strength based events and competitions out there, and we do have things like Wilks scores for a reason...

but knowing you these past years, it does seem like your passion is BB-

If you want to do one, you get to choose your own weight attempts in powerlifting. It only has to be as heavy as YOU decide. The question to consider is if you will let comparison be the thief of joy, or if you could just go enjoy the experience for what it is. But I also don’t think you need to do one for any kind of external validation.

Never a bad idea to do a strength meso once in a while, at least once a year, for bodybuilding, if your body feels up for it. Also, being smart with movement choices. Choosing machines to get stronger on is safer than free weights for that purpose.

Yeah, BB is my first love! But you guys all make me just want to lift heavy things up and put them down.

Yeah, coworker basically said for his first meet he just wanted him to do weights that he knew he'd hit all 9 for 9 on. Still put up a 705 total on his first meet, so pretty cool!

I do think I'd like to do it just to prove to myself I can and validate that I'm not just playing at lifting weights, but again, that's all just ego. So we'll see.
