Segansational's Motivation Log

Morning cardio session:

27:40 on the stationary bike, followed by one 5 min round on the heavy bag.

That had me going pretty good since I tried to also keep my feet moving continuously. I have zero boxing training, but even just simple jab combos plus a few body shots thrown in for good measure seems to be pretty effective!

Goal is to work up to probably 3x5 mins rounds to replace the bike on some days for cardio.

Been a tough couple of days in personal life. Nothing I really should complain about in the grand scheme of things, life is still good. But between solo parenting the front half of this week and the stress that comes with that, plus workload being high, and not getting the promotion I was up for - all and all my mental state is down. Ceel like throwing my hands up in the air. It all creeps into other aspects of my life - like my fitness goals. Feeling like deep sixing my cut, and have made some less than stellar choices with diet. This is just being real. Vacation coming up next week and coming at both a terrible and a great time!

Now that I've gotten that out, going to try to sack up again and get back to it. Pity party is over.

Upper
Foam rolling / lacrosse ball
Cat backs
Rotator cuff ex, 2x12,12

Machine Chest Press:
4 plates x 10
7 plates x 3x10

Bench Press:

Lat pulldowns:
7 plates x 3x10

Pre: 1 scoop LFG Burn, 2 caps Incinderine
Intra: Same as previous.

General note:
Lower back left side was a little uncomfortable this morning.

Sounds to me like the opposite is in order. There is one thing in your life you have control over. How you approach your personal physique goals. If anything being flustered with something out of your control like not getting a promotion, you should definitely continue the cut, and make it the best cut you have done so you give yourself something positive to take control over in your life so that can feed into the rest of your life instead of letting the negative slip into your positives.

Edit: Grammar is apparently overrated, That is one of the longest run on sentences. LMAO.

I agree with Kleen definitely stick to your goal of cutting. If not you will be disappointed in that aspect as well. Sorry to hear things have been a little rough man. Keep your head up and keep going !! You have been keeping at it, like you said life is good 😎

in the grand scheme of things, life is still good.

I like the cut of your jib. I have to constantly remind myself of Genesis:

In place of paradise lost, man was given a cursed ground of thorns and thistles that yields it produce reluctantly, and only to those who sweat for it (Gen. 3:17-19). In Ecclesiastes, “toil” refers to all work, all human endeavors in a post-fall world.

When dad and I started our business 22 years ago I think I thought it would be easier somehow than working for someone else. I'd be more selective with who I take on as customers/clients, and just set cruise control on easy street. after about a year or two I realized that it's a grind forever. I have to sometimes remind myself that even if I win the lotto, the grind will always be a requirement and even if I somehow did collect some windfall of $$$ I'm still going to have to work at something or become a fat sack who wastes away.

Hang in there homie- the grind makes us great!

I'm so sorry to hear that.

I'm one that never likes to come off as complaining myself, and when going through tough and difficult times I hate even answering honestly when people ask me how I'm doing because I hate for it to come off like I'm complaining, so I relate to where you're coming from - stress, overwhelmed, and not okay, but feeling like you should just deal with it or at least try to.

It definitely can affect us in all aspects of our life - motivation, training, diet, etc. For me, especially diet as I'm a depression eater.

I just wanted to encourage you - do the best you can do and don't be too hard on yourself for the small mishaps during times like this. Some days when life seems too much, that snack or bad meal may suck for our diet, but may be better mentally if it helps us feel better in a moment at all.

Your dedication is tremendous and inspirational - and I just wanted to encourage you to remember that even when you're not doing perfect for your standards, you're still doing better than 99% of people are when comes to sticking with diet and training.

I agree. Just saying what I felt like doing. I'm not going to though!

There's plenty of commas, you're fine

Watch out, the grammar police are coming for ya!

Appreciate you, man. I know I've got it great. Just little bumps in the road on this journey of life!

Well, I'm not a religious man, but I can dig that quote. There is something inherently satisfying that which you worked hardest for when achieved.

And kudos for you as a business owner. That's a big risk, but obviously also reward if you can do it right.

I'm not sure I could ever really take it "slow" at least not while still in my semi-prime maybe when we hit retirement...

I'm so sorry to hear that.

I truly appreciate this. Honestly, as men we weren't really raised to "share" what's in our head. Sometimes though just voicing it clears the air, then I can keep on going.

Not sure I'm inspirational by any stretch of the imagination, particularly compared to some of the other dudes in here - but thank you just the same!

This morning's session:

Cardio
27 mins on the bike, 122 cals, followed by another 5 mins round of heavy bag work. That last session really gets the sweat going! Also noticed that my lats definitely also get worked during throwing punches. Liking this combo!

Also, quick mid-week weight check in, down to 170.8#. Shedding pretty fast at the moment!

Congrats on the weight loss, good time for a win eh?

I hope things lighten up for you, trust me I know how it feels when things are amping up all around me in life while I am doing my best to stay on track with something challenging. We know you can keep things going. Like you said, sometimes just saying the thing out loud takes all of the power from it.

amen to that ! I hate bucking hay, but its hard miserable work that leaves you feeling accomplished and like you earned the right to the steak dinner you fed by bucking hay last season.

holy ****
This has honestly been the easiest cut so far too. Like I said in my original update, some of the early drop was not fat loss - but even if half is, this has been going at a fairly good clip.

While I've used TTA on many cuts before, Incinderine is new, as is LFG Burn. I know a couple of users on AM have seen pretty dramatic changes with Incinderine too. I know early on there was some mention of GLP-1 like mechanism for some of the Incinderine ingredients...

Yes. Definitely!

Legs

Warm ups:
Foam rolling
Cat Backs
Bird Dogs
Lacrosse ball

TRX squats x TRX alt lunges, 3x12 & 3x10
TRX calf raises 3x12

BB Squats:
95x10
135x10
165x8

Foam rolling to finish.

59:49, 198 cals.

Legs really have been feeling every leg workout these days. Not sure what that's about. Still having tailbone issues ever since that flight out to LV. Honestly, it's uncomfortable to sit for stretches of time. And today while squatting under the bar I could feel it a little too. Weird.

Anyways, still keeping lighter on Legs for now due to lower back. Knees aren't loving things even with Joint Edge back in the mix, maybe a little less popping.

Might try to do one heavy workout on Sunday with some high stim pre, just to keep things fun. Pull in the slanger and do some real weight again @Dustin07

Pre: 1 scoop LFG Burn, 2 caps Inciderine
Intra: Same as prior

High stim + heavy weights = party!!!

Where’s my invite?

Always welcome my man! Any of you guys on IG or into the social media thing? I've never tried it, but I know they have a live feature where you can join in with people. Could have a virtual meathead meet up!

I owed some pictures, so here's the new heavy bag set up with some new mats too. The gym continues to expand!

Plus here's a beaut that I plan on testing out tomorrow if the timing is right...

Took 3/4 a scoop this AM of Souls 4 Sale. About 20 mins in started to feel the effects, increased HR, slight jitters and cold feeling. A bit dirty for me due to the alpha-Y / yo combo. Almost didn't buy this, but the rest of the formula got me.

Heavy Chest Day

Warm ups:
Foam rolling / lacrosse ball
Cat Backs
Curl Ups
Rotator cuff resistance bands 2x12,12
TRX chest press, 3x10

Bench Press:
95x10
135x8
165x4 - felt heavy

PAUSE

185, 2 x 10 sec static holds.

Slingshot:
185x4

46:55, 160 cals.

A little dissappointing how my strength on bench has already dropped. But I think today just wasn't an optimal WO in general. On to the next!

Pre: 3/4 scoop Souls 4 Sale - the jitters on this were actually detracting. Cold sweats had me sweating through the back of my t-shirt. Will try this again next time at only 1/2 a scoop.
Intra: Same as usual

Might not have been optimal with the effect of the pre but still pretty decent. With starting your cut and everything I’d say still holding on pretty good.
I’ll have to look up this pre sounds kinda interesting!

Yeah with that recent weight drop you also know the calories have been where you wanted them - in a deficit. And that can make lifting also a bit harder, but it’s part of the process and really temporary. Once you level things out later the performance will come back up; don’t fear the process! Just do your best, same as usual.

Thanks fellas, needed the encouragement boost! No workout this AM, body just needed the rest and I slept through my alarm. But still planning to try and squeeze one more session in tomorrow morning before heading on vacation for the week.

Been doing one refeed/cheat meal per week, and am still losing the weight nicely. This AM check was 169.8#.

Glad you are getting to go on the vacation sounds like it will be much needed! Hope you have a blast with the family!!!

Thanks AK. Definitely needed. Going to try to shut off my brain from work. Headed to upstate NY, then off to Canada for a bit to visit some of my wife's fam. Should be a fun time. No gym plans or anything as we're just doing an airbnb, but anticipate plenty of walking while sight seeing. Bringing a modified supp stack, but will still at least have my TTA with me for maintenance while I enjoy some of the local grub. You know I have to get some poutine!

AM Cardio Session:
Foam rolling / stretching.
Bike, 27:01 mins, 176 cals.
Heavy bag session, 1x5 mins round.

Felt good this morning like I could've gone another round, but didn't want to overdo it before getting into the car for 4.5 hrs (yes, old man problems! ). But with the weight drop, my cardiovascular endurance might be coming up.

Happy 4th everyone!

Sounds like a good vacation, have fun!

Well, day 1 was great all around. And turns out the hotel I'm staying at has a very good gym. Tons of old cybex machines, good DB rack, dry sauna - so even though I didn't bring gym clothes you know I still had to get in a workout!

Back & Biceps

Bird Dogs x10,5,3
Foam rolling

Neutral grip pull ups x6,5,4
Right elbow was bugging me, so I think that hindered my reps a bit.

Row machine
3 plates x12
6x10
8x8
10x6

Lat pulldown machine
3 plates x10
6x10
7x9 - last rep my right shoulder gave out, so stopped.
6x8 - kept the focus on tension on the lats and stopped just short of full ROM.

Still have to keep anything wide grip like this light for my shoulders as evidenced by the above.

Preacher Curls
Empty EZ bar x 10
+20x8,7,5

Arm Curl Machine
2 plates x8
1x10,10
Really just a pump/fluff finisher.

42:16, 153 cals.

Finished off with a good sweat doing 15 mins in the dry sauna. Now off to eat a big (free!) breakfast!

Might be a good idea to lower the effort / RIR on the wide grip lat pull down, and just add an extra set instead of pushing close enough to failure that the shoulder becomes an issue. It should help and will be just as effective if not more. I would shoot for 2-3 RIR there since you have a problem with the shoulder.

Hope you all had a great July 4th!

Made it back home yesterday. It really was a great trip. A little long for my liking drive-wise, but kids had a great time. Lots of pool time, playgrounds, museums, sight seeing, visited a "farm", a beach, and even a brewery. Had some poutine and a great brisket sandwich meal while up there too!

Didn't make it back into the gym after the first morning but not stressing about it. Didn't count cals while on holiday. We'll see how things look in a few hours when I weigh in to see the damage. Not sure why I didn't bring my Incinderine... anyways, finished up most of my natty stack. Still going to keep going with Trib & FadogiaXT, plus have a few pumps of Alpha Gel just to finish it off.

Prepping for a long / crazy week of what I'm about to step into at work after being gone this long but the positive is in one week I'll be at the lake! So this week is all about a HARD cut for this week to get back under control and even lose a little more before it's shirt off every day time.

AM training session = cardio.

Foam rolling / lacrosse ball.
Bike, 31 mins, 192 cals.

Heavy bag rounds:
x5 mins
x4 mins
x2 mins

Plan this week is 3 cardio sessions (MWF), 1 leg workout (Tues), 1 upper workout (Thurs).

Glad your trip was great too and you got your fam back home safely!
Thanks, it really was a nice break.

Quick weight update: 170.8#, so only increased by 1.2# last week. I call that a win!

Son woke up multiple times last night, so this AM was a little challenging. Plus my fitbit battery died, so no alarm wake up. Anyways, got up at 6:05 so had to go fast.

Legs
Foam rolling
Bird Dogs x10,5,3

Supersets:
TRX squats x TRX alt lunges, 3x10

Seated leg ext x TRX calf raises,
3 plates, 3x10
3x15 reps

Empty bar RDLs - still feel really tight in my hams and low back, so kept it light and slow just for a good stretch.
3x10

Foam rolling to finish.

Pre: 1 scoop LFG Burn, 2 caps Incinderine
Intra: Same as usual

Glad you enjoyed your trip. Good job getting it done after being woke up in the middle of the night.

Thanks Kleen.

Cardio

30:48, 165 cals on the bike this AM.
Heavy bag session:
1 x 5 mins round
Only had enough time for one round since my kids came downstairs.

Foam rolling & stretching.

Tons of sweating today!

Wow I had to re-read that several times. lol. Just did a pole transfer and I’m melting in this heat. Thought I wrote “sex cardio”. Lmaooooooo

Sounds like a fun trip! Looks like back at it
It was! Wasn't sure what to expect honestly, since it was more with the goal of visiting extended family - and traveling with kids is very different than if it were with my wife or solo - but just a different type of fun.
LOL
Tabata style, 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off.
Trying to get tantric like Sting??

Put some more weight on this morning even after a pre-exhaustion with the machine press. So pleased with today.

Fitbit didn't record until my 3rd set on bench today, oh well.

Lat pulldowns:
6 plates x 10,8,8

Kept these light and slow, holding just slightly from lock out to keep the muscles fully engaged throughout per last suggestion from @MrKleen73. Was the right move and still got a nasty burn in my lats with submaximal weights and no shoulder issues.

Close Grip Cable Rows:
7 plates x 10,10,10

39:18, 205 cals (partial capture of my workout).

Pre: 1 scoop LFG Burn, 2 Inciderine
Intra: Same as usual

Been burning the midnight oil at work to meet a bunch of deadlines by end of week. I'm sure that it's adding some additional stress/cortisol levels, but I'm seemingly managing OK. Just my overall energy levels are dragging post 5 PM, but that could also be attributed to the lower cals too.

One more workout left tomorrow before I'll be floating on the lake!

Solid session! Floating on a lake sounds very relaxing

Last workout in the books!

Cardio, 30 mins, 179 cals on the bike.
Heavy bag rounds, 3 x 5 mins rounds.

Was pretty gassed during these boxing sessions. Break is coming probably at the right time as energy levels and muscle fatigue are relatively high at the moment.

Weight still dropping nicely and with two more days will just about hit my goal for this mini cut.

My plan moving forward when we get back will likely be to continue a cut, but just dialing back the intensity. More in line with 0.5# per week loss and flipping cardio & weight days.

Where are ya going?
Poconos, I'm in the tri-state area.
Lake house with the fam and some water toys. What more does a guy need?
Well, I'd say my guitar and a beer, but I'll have both of those things too!

And weigh in as of this AM was 168.4# (-9.2# since the start), so under where I was prior to the other week of no tracking in there over the 4th. I'm not quite finished yet either. Maybe just the hint of a shadow of upper abs peaking through.

OK fellas, one last update. 4 week mini-cut results below as of this AM.

Starting weight: 177.6#
Starting BF: 16.9%

Ending weight: 167.6# (-10.0#)
Ending BF: 15.6% (-1.3%)

Other notes:
Sleep past few nights has been garbage. Towards the tail end of this cut I had to completely remove meal 3 (snack, usually protein bar - was doing a protein shake to remove cals/fat - then skipping altogether at the end). Energy levels were definitely lower on restricted cals. Really enjoyed adding in the boxing cardio! This was probably my most successful cut to date, certainly within this short timeframe.

Current flexed look.

That is a good amount of weight pretty quickly, well done Sir!

Just checking in from the lake house. Still here for another day or two. It's been fun just doing the get up, go out on the boat, swim, eat, drink some beers, lounge around, eat some more routine. But I'm also about ready to get back to my normal routine. Plus the whole in-laws thing. Found out there's a gym in town about 15 mins or so from here, so may see if they offer day passes for next time.

Picked up a few deals on Prime days: Some C4 smart cans, Gym Reapers clothing, and Bucked Up deals - more LFG Burn, Pumpocalypse, All Bulk No Bloat, plus some basics (multi, MCT, digestive enzymes, fish oil).
