Segansational's Motivation Log

Had a great holiday weekend! Plenty of down time, just chilling with family, lots of swimming time for the kids. Did get one other cardio session before going away for the holiday too. Back in the gym nice and early this AM for chest/tris:

Rotator cuff ex, resistance bands 2x12,12

Bench Press:
95 x 10, warm up
135 x 6
155 x 3
135 x 8

DB incline press:
50x10
60x6
55x6

Machine Flys
3 plates x 10
4 plates x 10
5 plates x 7

Dips x 12,10,8

DB Floor Presses, 45# - 3x8

51:12, 217 cals

Pre: 1 scoop Defiant Unleashed July 4th edition
Intra: 1 scoop Juice, 2g Cissus XT, 1 scoop Kaged Hydration

This break came right as I needed it. Was feeling mentally in a bad place, but I was reminded just how good life is!

Definitely fluffy these days. Finished up 3-AD, will be running with Icon One/Alpha Four for about 1.5 weeks more and then I'll call this run done and start dialing it back again. Lower back on left side was seemingly aggravated right before the holiday when I mowed the lawn, so will keep an eye on it. Same area as always.

Picked up a few good sales this weekend too. Have some Apex Alchemy on its way, Ryse Godzilla and Moon Pie flavored protein, and a ton of SNS/CEL/XPG alpha gel coming! The feedback I've seen so far on this stuff seems phenomenal so should fit nicely into my rotation next.
I think you will enjoy the Alpha Gel!! Looks like you had a nice 4th and now back in the groove heck yeah man!!

Glad you had a great weekend!

Yep much needed. Hope your holiday was great as well!

Got in a quick afternoon cardio session, 30:14, bike, 163 cals.
Yes Sir, spent it with my family over at my cousin's house on San Leon Bay. Got to see about 20 different houses along the shoreline going nuts during the grand finale. Was a great time with the people I love the most!

Can't beat that! We also got the chance to see several town firework displays all at once from where we were. Have some good photos that I'll have to post up.

Spent the day at the pool today. Fun for the kids, but a little exhausting for me. Still managed to get in a quick 20 min back session before dinner:

Neutral Grip Pull ups x 9,5,5

Seated Cable Rows:
5 plates x 12
7 plates x 10
8 plates x 8

Bent Over BB Rows:
135 x 8,8,7

Lat Pulldowns:
8 plates x 10,8,7

Foam rolling in between.
Pre: 1 can C4 Ultimate On the Go

after jack3d changed, and I got sick of noxplode, etc C4 became my go to for years. But this past winter I tried Steves pump addict and now I'm sold on it, when you run out of c4 you might give the pump addict a try. I find it's so strong I never need more than a single scoop at most.

Nah, this was a can I had stashed. Just a one off, not usual C4 use. That said Pump Addict's rauwolscine was too much for me.

Well, happy birthday to me! Just came back from a great trip. Visited Portland, ME and experienced the food scene there. Really terrific. Was a nice recharging vacation just me and the wife. Didn't workout or even think about the gym the whole time!

Came home to a package from Ryse Supps and cracked a tub of Noel Deyzyl's Godzilla pre-WO. Packed formula, 11g of citrulline including nitrates, creatine, beta alanine, and 400 mg caffeine. Several patented ingredients. Jumped in with the full 2 scoops because... why not? Flavor left much to be desired, semi-carbonated? My only concern starting at full doses was the 6.4g BA dose.

Chest/Tri's.

Rotator cuff resistance bands, 2x12,12

Neutral Grip push ups x 12,10,8 - Did these just to warm up and push some blood into my chest.

Bench Press:
95x10
135x6
155x3
175x2

Seated Machine Chest Press:
6 plates x 10
8 plates x 10 - This felt right for balance of muscle activation & weight.
10 plates x 10 - Didn't get tough until here, probably could've done another set higher.

Dips 3x10

Foam rolling to finish.
51:59, 163 cals.

Short week for me as we're going camping with friends on Friday. So it'll be an abbreviated WO week. Plan is chest today, cardio tomorrow, back Thurs to hit deads. Thinking I'm just going to go back to lifting with the big 3 in my workouts until I get back into a true routine. This month just won't be consistent, so will somewhat go by feel other than the above.

Supp update:
Finished up my TD run, so will be adding in some Optimize T. Still running Paradoxine.
Debating throwing in Alpha Gel, but thinking I will wait until my run of Optimize T is finished first. So 4 weeks Optimize T / 4 weeks Alpha Gel.
Cracked a tub of Muscle EAAs and some Cluster Bomb (HBCD). Dependent on what pre I'm using, this may be my go-to intra.

Post-WO: 1 scoop of Ryse Moon Pie protein. This mixed up really well with a spoon, very fine powder. Light milk chocolate flavor, hint of marshmallow, and an undertone of graham-like flavor. Think they did a good job with this flavoring!

Note: The pre/Intra combo did a pretty good number on my stomach this morning. Will prob dial back to 1-1.5 scoops of Godzilla pre when I use it.

After being woken up last night, and then some inability to fall back asleep, still managed to get up after a few snoozes for some cardio. 1 scoop of Fitmax and then on the bike, 37:04, 198 cals.

At a pretty hefty 168.6#, 15.7% BF coming off of vacation. Will need to start dialing it back soon.

Back Day.

Bird Dogs x10,5,3
Neutral Grip Pull Ups x10,6,6

Deadlifts:
135x8 - Overhand Grip

15 mins PAUSE Son woke up and I tried to get him to go back to sleep unsuccessfully. So he joined me for the remainder this AM while snacking.

185x6,6,6 - Mixed Grip

Threw in a set of Rack Deads to finish things off:
205x5

Foam rolling/stretching to finish.

36:12, 114 cals.

Stopping 13 mins into my WO certainly did me no favors strengthwise, but it is what it is. Looking at life with a positive outlook though, just meant extra time with him!

Pre: 1.5 scoops Ryse Godzilla
Intra: 2g Cissus XT, 1 scoop Kaged Hydration, 1 scoop MuscleEAAs, 1/2 scoop Cluster Bomb

good job man, good parenting!! (seems like something that's so much more important these days)

I do recall when my boy was a newborn/toddler I loved using him as a copout though "sorry we can't make that event, we don't have child care available that night and he has to be in bed by X o'clock" LOL 😅😅

Thanks man. He's also just at a fun age too right now, just coming into his own and really having conversation. We're headed camping tomorrow, so more fun times ahead. Just trying to enjoy this phase of life as much as I can!

Thanks fellas!

Spent this weekend camping. Best part of it was going for bike rides with my son. He's young enough I still carry him around on the backseat - he calls it "extra weight" for me. Very hilly campsite, so fried my quads a few times taking him around. So I guess I got in some exercise!

But it did make me realize just how out of shape I am endurance/cardio-wise. So back on the stationary bike this AM for cardio, 30:19, 164 cals.

Traveling again for work most of this week, then on legit week-long vacation!

Light-weight pump session for shoulders which I have been neglecting. Back was bothering me the other day, so I stayed light.

Curl Ups x10,5,3
DB laterals superset with DB front raises, 10# x 12/10, 12/10, 12/10

Headed to Chi town today. Should be a decent hotel gym where I'm headed, but I know there's also probably some deep dish pizza in my future!

Worked late into the evening, but somehow managed to drag myself out of bed for a cardio & abs session:

20 mins, stationary bike, 158 cals.
Knee raises, 3 sets to failure
Weighted rope crunches, 30/20/20# x 3 sets to failure

Time to conquer the day!

Hey fellas, enjoyed a week at the lake. Boating, fishing, tubing, etc. Kids had a blast. Headed to the beach this Friday for one last hurrah with the boys. Definitely will need to reign it in once I get back. Probably going to focus on full body WOs, cardio/some running, calorie counting come mid-August.

Pre: 1 scoop El Chapo
Intra: 1 scoop Juice, 1 scoop Kaged Hydration, 2g CissusXT

Honestly just happy to get back into it today. It's been a while since I took this long of a break from the gym. It was a ton of fun on vacation, but things lately have made me think about my level of drinking again. Going to try to cut back a bit. It'll be hard this weekend with the boys, but I've got to show a little discipline. Especially with physique goals. No more time to waste. Plus I'm just getting older too, recovery isn't what it used to be. So... let's see. One step at a time!

I find unless you are predisposed to an addiction that one of the great challenges with alcohol is the habit (much like those who struggle with smoking, etc). There are certain routines where you're used to having a drink or two and it just becomes a habitual way to add empty calories that don't help with our goals, I totally get it.

During the winter after hard commutes (90-120 minutes some days) it just became habit like something out of Mad Men to walk in, walk to my decanter and pour a bourbon, ideally before my wife starts talking (gotta get my listening juice, lol). Of course everyone drinks on the golf course. etc etc. So when my wife and I are going dry we keep a lot of sparkling waters in stock so that when we get home we grab that instead, maybe squeeze a lime in it. And when I golf, I rarely drink these days. I often grab Gatorade or diet coke to have with me.

I mean water is great too, but if I'm letting myself have a treat I consider a gatorade zero or a diet coke to be the lesser of two evils but still feel like I'm enjoying a treat.

I think drinking is one of those things that you should be mindful of if you do it recreationally. I always pay attention to any patterns with it that seem like I am doing it out of habit. My Dad had over 30 years of sobriety when he passed, and I spent a lot of time in Ala-Non and Ala-teen. SO I have always kept myself sensitive to when things seemed to be habitual, or too frequent. I will always back away if I see myself automatically wanting a drink at any period. I always toss out drinks if I am drinking socially and people leave. Just kind of a checks and balances thing I have always done since I have alcoholism in my family. However, I think it is something everyone should keep a bit of an eye on and adjust when it starts being a bigger priority than it should be.

Part of it definitely is habit - hard day, crack a cold one. Yard work, crack one. But I do agree about having something to sub with. On the other side, I tend to have some type of energy drink or more recently a diet soda in the afternoon. Started as a pick me up, but now it's more just liking having a carbonated drink mid-afternoon as routine.

In progress
Dragged myself out of bed this morning. Another full body routine:

Rotator cuff ex, resistance bands 2x12,12

Bench Press
95x12, warm up
135x8,8,7 - left shoulder felt tight all yesterday and delta this morning still.

Neutral Grip Pull Ups, 3 sets to failure (x8,6,6)

Cable preacher curls
4 plates x 10,10,10

Close Grip BP
135x10,7,5

EZ bar upright rows
+50x10,8,6

Front delts felt fried. Honestly, think I just need to get back to being comfortable with feeling uncomfortable. Two days back into it and I'm feeling sore, muscles/joints feel it. But that's what this lifestyle brings with it. Reminding myself that.

Quick foam roll for upper back tightness.

45:35, 181 cals.

Pre: 1.5 scoops Oracle - Went back to the well on this. It's already starting to crystallize, something with a yellow tint. Mixed up easily enough though. Tingles hit hard fast again.
Intra: 1 scoop Bomba EAAs, 1 scoop Kaged Hydration, 2g CissusXT, 1/2 scoop Cluster Bomb

Yeah, not sure what it is in the oracle but the last scoop or two of mine crystalized then softened into clumps. I used one of them the other day and I was surprised to see it like that already.

Well, complete fail this weekend for me. But, here we are, Monday morning on the bike, ready to get myself back on track. Feeling ready to change up things for the better.

30:52, 191 cals
Plus incline crunches, 3 sets
Medicine ball twists, 3 sets

New plan:

Weight loss focus
Cardio 3x/wk (bike, may incorporate running on weekends)
Upper/lower body split 2x/wk (will inc to 3x/wk if I feel up to it, or throw in a bench or deads day for maintenance).
Tracking calories/macros
Limiting alcohol to only weekends

Supplements:

Still TBD, but finishing up with maybe 1/3 bottle of paradoxine.
I do have a bottle of Epichaos I could use, that should help a little with leaning and muscle retention.
Thought I had a capsule fatburner, but turns out it's just stims. Super old bottle from Nutrex! Unopened though, just PEAs, synephrine, and caffeine. May look into the stash further, as I do also have things like DMAA/DMHA that I could stack with caffeine & yohimbine which is more tried and true.

Edit: Just found a bottle of ForskolinXT!

My wife is ramping things back up so we might go dry for a while to help cut calories as she cuts. I told her maybe we should look at one of those at home carbonation devices. Why do you feel like the weekend was a fail, Seg?

Like you said, no use worrying about what’s behind you - it’s what’s ahead that lies in your control now!

I always think this! Lol
Went too hard on the booze. But, yes, onwards and upwards!

Will be using this week to calibrate my current macros/light clean up of diet. And current plan is a 12 week period to lose 12#. Would be put me roughly around 156# give or take. Once I get there will see if I continue to push/cut harder. Or if the weight starts to drop faster.

Some bad news, turns out my bottle of Epichaos is probably out of the mix.

Good (maybe better?) news is that I have a fresh bottle of Ursa gel which I'll get to use instead!

Also, looks like I'm going to end up around 2k cals for the day. But way off for macros, high on fat/carbs, low/under on protein. Will be monitoring that, particularly the low protein intake.

Morning AM folks, was dragging a little when my alarm hit, but got up for a lower body/leg day.

2 caps of Ergopharm Amp (!) to kick things off, plus 1 scoop Ghost Pump TMNT Ooze pre-WO (non-stim).

Light stretching/foam rolling to loosen up.

Bird Dogs x10,5,3
Seated leg ext, 3 plates x 3 x 10

Banded pull aparts, 3x12
BB squats:
135x10,10,10
Joints felt creaky this morning...

RDLs:
95x10,10,10

TRX calf raises x 20,20,20

Foam rolling to finish.
47:15, 147 cals

Flexors felt tight, right side of my lower back felt a little off this morning from the start.

No headphones or tunes this morning. Bluetooth ran out on my beats, and my new phone doesn't have a headphone jack.

Intra: 1 scoop Juice, 2g CissusXT, 1 scoop Kaged Hydration

Will be adding in 2 pumps XPG Ursa Gel post-shower.

this was a frustrating discovery when I found that on my most recent phone as well... bluetooth or nothing....
Right, they should send a little cheapo set of bluetooth with them like they used to send a cheapo wired headset. I actually have 3 sets of bluetooth headsets so I don't run into this too often. I have like an 8 year old pair of sony's in one gym bag, 4-5 year old samsung bud pro in my work bag, and Beats FitPro I try to keep with me at all times. That way if I forget them or to charge them I almost always still have a set I can use.

my favorite pair are my ugliest $25 Tozos off amazon! in fact I like them so much more than my others I gave my expensive ones to my boy lol
Really? WOW, they must sound pretty good. What kind were the ones you gave your boy? I might have to look into those Tozos since one of mine are starting to die. I only get about 2-2.5 hours of listening on the oldest ones so don't always trust them to make a whole training session.

I'd say the Tozo's sound good, but I wouldn't call them "great". they do an OK job of blocking out surrounding sounds even when music is turned off. But the best part is they stay in my ear, they are easy to control volume and fwd/reverse with a tap, and the battery charge holds very well. now days I get in a habit of throwing them in my console with the usb charger when I get back in my truck but they can last quite a few sessions off a single charge (enough that I can forget to recharge them!) It says they hold a charge of 11-48hrs? I can't verify that but I know mine have only been dead once or twice on me ever.

Cool, for something that sounds good not great that is a good price range. They probably at least sound as good as my oldest pair of sony's at 8 years old. Which still sound surprisingly decent.

I'm loving the TMNT ooze. Currently have legend all out and gamer non stim.
Yeah, I gotta admit, Ghost flavoring and collabs are always on point. I do think they're a bit overhyped/overpriced, but this is the 2nd time I've gotten the TMNT drop.

Ghost Burn Shredder was pretty good too.
this was a frustrating discovery when I found that on my most recent phone as well... bluetooth or nothing....
Yeah, ended up buying one of those USB-C to headphone jack connectors, just so I could use some of my regular headphones with it. But I didn't want to have to go back upstairs to get it and risk waking the household up...

I've had a couple of decent bluetooth pairs before I bought the Beats over the ear headphones. Soundpeats capsule were good, but I sweat through them from running and one ear bud stopped working. QY7 also soundpeatw were good (the kind with a wire between the two buds). All relatively inexpensive.

Quick Ursa Gel review:
This stuff is more like a true lotion than other XPG TDs I've used. It comes out white and actually is a little thick/sticky [insert joke here]. Smell is a little chemical, but not terrible.

Morning came too soon, but thankfully 2 caps of Ergoamp and the brain fog wore off. A little sore this morning after legs plus a 20 mins afternoon walk in the heat yesterday and yard clean up, but did 37 mins of stationary bike for 238 cals. Followed by some ab work. Managed to keep myself in check yesterday with diet. Hoping to tackle some painting around the house later today if I can find the time.

Not exciting posts lately, but this is what will hopefully keep me accountable. Cheers!

Upper Body:

Seated Chest Press Machine:
3 plates, warm up x 12
8 plates x 10
9 plates x 10
10 plates x 10
Increased the working set weights since last time.

Lat pulldowns:
8 plates x 10
9 plates x 10,10
Made sure to go up on my last two sets.

EZ bar curls:
+50 x 10,10,8
Inc of 10# since last workout.

Dips, 3 sets to failure

DB laterals:
15 x 3 x 12

~45 mins, fitbit didn't record it right.

Slept awfully last night. Kids collectively were up 3 times last night. So my schedule this morning was just a bit off, but made it happen!

Another good day yesterday on cals. Hitting closer to my macros as well. Today should be able to stay on track, the real test will come Friday/Sat as we're going out for dinner and hosting some friends here.

Pre: 1.5 cups coffee, 2 caps Ergoamp, 1 scoop Ghost Pump TMNT Ooze
Intra: 1 scoop Juice, 2g CissusXT, 1 scoop Kaged Hydration

you're a good dude. keep fighting the good fight

Are noticing impact or was this the first application? The only ursa I've ever used was Apex Alchemy and it was interesting.
This was after my first application. No noticeable effects yet to report, but the TD is just completely different than any other I've used before.

I had a pair of Tozos and hated them. The right side would cut in and out constantly while using them. So damn annoying. My wife bought me a pair of AirPods Pro’s almost two years ago for Christmas. I highly recommend them! I know they’re pricy but the sound is great, connection is great, battery life is great, very comfortable and the noise blocking feature is on point. Worth every penny.

Another cardio/abs session: 32 mins bike, 214 cals, followed by incline crunches & russian medicine ball twists. Some foam rolling for lower back release and stretching. Again, lower back felt tight.

Rough macros for the week have been just a hair under 2k cals:

1,985 cals
46/32/22% c/f/p
Will be working to reduce the carbs down in order to inc the protein %, aiming for 40/30/30 ratio.

Weight check in:
8/15 - 167.8#
8/19 - 167.2# (-0.6#)

I'm bummed, my ursa, triton, and epi all came in yesterday and I completely forgot to apply this morning before i left the house lol. we had a late night out with friends and I was a bit out of routine this a.m.
