as a side bonus for all of this work, not only will I be running these as a bulk tablet, but I also modified the new FidOmega Softmoist treats to include the dessicated liver material. These are going to be excellent!

its a +- 1g, so pretty close. thats why I threw 20 on, figure a sub 5% margin of error then. I can throw more on and see if you'd like. my pocket scale that is +-10mg is fubar
 
shitty to hear even Beverly is apparently having some quality control problems. This thread reminded me of how much I love liver tabs though, so i bought 500 of universals and 500 of beverlys

Ive only used uniliver in the past, but have always heard ultra40 is better so I figure I'll just go ahead and take 3 of each with each meal.
 
has anyone contacted beverly about this yet, they will straiten it out im sure, i have a myweigh z scale (got for 11 bucks) Its not the best scale in the world, but serves ts purpose, i need to find where i put it, but ill weigh out my new bottle and some individual tabs soon.

They sure are a lot smalle and less smelly than uniliver.

Just got my order in, two tubs of Ultra 40s. Had to go back to Bev after being disappointed with Uni-Liver.

Anyway;
1 tablet = 1.89g
Scale accurate to 0.01g

I don't know what that does for us other than raise more questions...

you are getting close enough to my results to verify.

If the 4x theory were true, then the tablets would weigh barely a gram. However, the label still claims 2.6 grams per plus fillers.

I haven't had a chance to contact them yet, but given my reasoning I doubt they will react kindly. I could VERY well be wrong, though, as I have heard nothing but good things about them personally.
 
I just emailed them, I'll let you all know when I hear back from them. My scale only reads one digit past the zero, but weighed them in at 1.8, i only weighed 3 pills (individually), didnt see the need to make a day of it :)

Let me assure you that this is the exact same Ultra 40 formula that Beverly has sold for more than a decade.

The liver is imported from Argentina for each batch.

The Liver as 4x concentrate 2600mg is the point of confusion. Because the liver is a 4x concentrate the proper labelling is as stated on the label (as 4x concentrate - 2600mg).

You could think of it this way: 2600 mg of the original powdered liver substance is the starting point. It is then concentrated 4x - getting rid of impurities, fat, etc that is found naturally in liver and the end product does in fact weigh less than 2600 mg. But for labeling purposes you use the amount of liver that supplied you with the finished product.

Dude, this is what I was trying to tell you guys all along..
If you are getting 2600mg in a 4x concentrated version, then true weight = 650mg. Now, what Roger probably didn't want to allude to is -- if that true weight is 650mg and you guys are getting 1.8g on the scale, then yeah you're looking at approx. 1200mg in fillers..
Bottom line tho: 2600mg is a hefty dosage of quality liver, and Easy -- with my logic already laid out, hopefully you see why a concentrated product doesn't have to weigh out to 2g to give you an actual 2g of protein.

No, actually it can't.

I can't make a super concentrated whey protein and tell you you get 100 grams of protein in a teaspoon. Amino acids have a set weight per molecule, and 2 grams is 2 grams.

although in general I agree with you, you can't get 2g out of less than 2g. there is no way to "concentrate" protein any more than to 100% protein, which is what 2g of protein is. thats why with whey it takes even with a reverse ion exchange isolate 26-28g to get 25g protein.

that said, i'll still likely buy the liver tabs in the future, there are enough reasons to supplement with them, but that is a muscletech grade label claim

Again, not knocking AT ALL the product - though increased dosage would have to be taken into account.

I've found, even still, that the product is still as effective as I remember it being WRT recovery. Just concerned on several levels (including that of a consumer that spent $40 on this product) about the label.
 
Somehow I missed Bev's response until now. Atleast we have some closure, and I have to agree with the people that said that's some shady math. There's definitely no way they're meeting their label claims on giving you 2g of high-quality protein per tab, unless they're counting fillers :lol:

Anyways, I've already got some UniLiver en route, I'll pick up some Ultra 40s down the road to compare.

ive got both right now, honestly, im just going to stick to uniliver from now on.

From experience, I can tell you there's a huge difference. Kinda like comparing Body Fortress protein powder (or insert other generic brand found at WalMart), to ProComplex or MonsterMilk or some other such protein powder -- that would be quality. This isn't a supp that will stand out and make you feel 'whoaaaa, I'm freakin jacked' like a PH or prew/o stim or something; it's along the same lines of a protein powder you ingest. You use a shitty protein powder, you'll get shitty results, and you won't be aware of why..
But, that being said, there is a cumulative effect with the Ultra-40's: you will see your strength go up subtly, and just feel better and stronger, after taking the recommended dosage for a few days. Again, kinda like ingesting quality food..
I don't expect everyone will be able to grasp this concept tho.. for you guys, stick with the UniLiver. If you're out eating Mickey D's on a regular basis, you won't ever be able to tell the difference between the two, I'm sure..
 
so when in recomp/cut mode, and snacks are usually kept to like a handful of walnuts or cashews, would this be a perfect time to add in like 4-6 liver tabs? so that in between meals you get fat and full spectrum of aminos?

Sure, you could do that. I don't utilize too many snacks in my serious cuts, so I usually have Ultra-40's with meals. But there have been times when I'll chew these up in between meals and pop 4 Mass Aminos along with, to keep protein synthesis rolling. They're not too bad chewing on them, tastes like a dog milkbone or something, but seems to quench hunger pangs..

well my snacks are usually a handful of nuts, a couple scoops of whey with some type of fat, or even just sipping on xtend in between meals if i know it might be 3.5 hours or more in between meals. so adding some tabs to nuts would be a lot easier for me. especially when running between back to back classes having only 10 minutes break to eat and get to my next class.
 
DEF then man, take 6 of them puppies with your nut snack (oh that almost sounds weird there, haha). Start out with 2 at a time and build to that daily till you get to 6 per serving. If you start out with 6 off jumpstreet you may experience some odiferous effects..
 
im taking 3 at a time randomly whenever i think about it

now that we know the weight of ultra 40s its safe to say at 1.6g/pill of protein in uniliver, there is likely more protein in a uniliver than a ultra 40.

the b vits are a bit higher in the ultra 40, but im fine w/ the already high amounts in uniliver

uniliver does use whey though, which you dont like, i dont see why though, im interested in an explanation.

if your on a budget then unliver are great, under half as much as ultra 40s, a much more detailed explanation of how much vits are in each pill, and they are not lying on the label/misleading w/ the 2.6g bit.
 
I usually carry some in the car for emergencies. They seem to be very temperature stable.

Merely posting my own personal observations and opinions.
I think UniLiver is poor quality crap, period. And I've crapped them out, undissolved, not just once but twice. That's never happened with any other thing I've taken.
I'm not trying to be arrogant either -- but here's the deal. There are some ppl who do not understand nutrition. These same ppl will buy crap amino acids thru a place like, oh let's say, Puritan's Pride because they are cheap (cheap because it's just a dirt cheap whey protein compounded together), instead of a quality amino like, say, Beverly's Mass Amino tabs -- which are a hi-quality peptide-bonded casein. And then they wonder why they get the results they do..
Hi quality beef is one of the most anabolic natural substances in existence. UniLiver contains sparse amounts of actual beef, utilizing whey filler instead. If you cannot understand this and think you're doing better by saving the money, then continue as is. I'm not here to talk you out of what you do.

i gotcha, its the actual beef that is regarded higher than the whey, certainly makes sense

ive never looked into the mass amino tabs, ill look at those

ive used beverlys powders and do find them to be lightyears ahead of cytosport, ON, etc

ive found for me i get the best results with ultra peptide 1, even better than with dya pro peptide or beverlys ultra size/muscle provider

right now im using san's infusion which i like a lot too

bringing up an old thread- beverly ultra 40 still they way to go even though they do not contain 2 grams of protein.

Anyone have an understanding of how much each tab does contain?

From what I know about production techniques and filler/binder requirements, I would say probably around 1.2-1.4 grams.

Thanks for the input- I am giving them a shot just for a change of pace regardless. Plus, pills at the moment are easier than powder to take due to my environment during the day.

Do you always take them with food? Chew or swallow?
 
yes, always with food, swallow them.
in a pinch (if you're going a bit past your scheduled feeding time) I chew a handful and pop some BCAA's.
there are no issues w/ chewing..I actually kinda like the taste! :shhh:
