Yeah, but for prestiging he could work well, since lower CP builds up the gym faster. Unfortunately, a high CP Vaporeon will still do a better job for attacking, but that's pretty boring. Machamp and Heracross would match up very well too, and have higher max CP than Poliwrath.

It's not much fun to just throw a Vape army at everything, haha. Have you ran into any Blisseys at gyms yet?
haha yeah... theres actually a 5 blissey gym right by where I work... gonna get with some fo the locals and add to it.

they're flat out miserable. especially to prestige against since anything lower cp just takes too long and you time out. At least taking them down isn't impossible but its still not fun. Have to think theyll nerf the HP before too long.

I haven't ran into any Blisseys or Tyranitars at the gyms around campus yet, it's still a lot of Rhydron, Gyrados, Dragonite, and Vaporeon, which makes them pretty easy, but also pretty boring. What Pokemon are you using to take down the Blisseys? Are you just throwing your highest CP ones with good DPS at it (Dragonite, Vaporeon, Gyrados, etc)? I think I'd have a hard time against a strong Blissey, since my highest CP right now are 2.7k Snorlax, 2.4k Exeggutor, 2.3k Dragonite, and several others between 2-2.1k.

I keep all my highest CP's in gyms. Frankly if ive seen a blissey, I just avoid it ha. I have a couple Machops that Im gonna evovle up at some point here and hope for good moves but other than that my only real strategy is is "just dont" haha

Haha, that's a good strategy. The gyms on my campus typically don't even last a day, even the level 10 ones, but perhaps Blissey will change that.

So apparently they changed some of the quick moves again:

Water Gun: 10 > 5
Bite: 10 >6
Counter: 10 > 12
Vine Whip: 8 > 7
Struggle Bug: 6 > 15 (wow)

Bubble is now at 12, and confusion is still at 20. People on Reddit are saying that a lot of quick moves are faster again (like water gun, which has less damage again, but is faster).

So weird. I'm not gonna bother candying anything until I have all the gen2's ha. They keep killing anything that gets good when I power it up

I think I agree, haha. People are saying that Blissey is a lot easier/faster to beat now though, which is probably a good thing.

Here are some of the supposed changes:

Bite: 10 damage @ 1000ms (10 DPS) to 6 damage @ 500ms (12 DPS)
Dragon Breath: 12@1000 (12 DPS) to 6@500 (12 DPS)
Lick: Speed reduced from 1000 > 500ms (10 DPS)
Shadow Claw: 12@1200 (10 DPS) > 9@700 (12.85 DPS)
Vine Whip: 8@1100 (7.27 DPS) > 7@600 (11.67 DPS)
Psycho Cut: 8@1070 (7.47 DPS) > 5@600 (8.33 DPS)
Zen Headbutt: 12@1550 (7.74 DPS) > 12@1100 (10.9 DPS)
Confusion: 20@2100 (9.52 DPS) > 20@1600 (12.5 DPS)
Counter: 10@900 (11.11 DPS) > 12@900 (13.33 DPS)
Volt Switch: 12@2300 (5.21 DPS) > 20@2300 (8.69 DPS)
Dragon Tail: 15@1550 (9.68 DPS) > 15@1100 (13.63 DPS)
Air Slash: 12@1200 (10 DPS) > 14@1200 (11.67 DPS)
Struggle Bug: 6@1500 (4 DPS) > 15@1500 (10 DPS)
Iron Tail: 15@1550 (9.68 DPS) > 15@1100 (13.63 DPS)
Fire Spin: 15@1550 (9.68 DPS) > 14@1100 (12.72 DPS)
Razor Leaf: 15@1500 (10 DPS) > 13@1000 (13 DPS)
Poison Jab: 12@1300 (9.23 DPS) > 10@800 (12.5 DPS)

Among others. Looks like a lot of quick moves got a lot stronger.

Edit: I'll sort some stuff for now until someone puts up a whole new list soon:

Dragon Breath: 12 DPS > 12 DPS (but 2x as fast)
Dragon Tail: 9.68 > 13.63

Psycho Cut: 7.47 > 8.33
Zen Headbutt: 7.74 > 10.9
Confusion: 9.52 > 12.5
Extrasensory: 7.74 > 10.9

Vine Whip: 7.27 > 11.67
Razor Leaf: 9.23 > 12.5

Counter: 11.11 > 13.3
Rock Smash: 8.82 > 11.53

Iron Tail: 9.68 > 13.63

Struggle Bug: 4 > 10

Fire Spin: 9.68 > 12.72

Poison Jab: 9.23 > 12.5

Looks like there are now some strong moves for most types now, and fighting moves are a lot stronger too, perhaps to counter all the Blisseys, as well as help with Tyranitar, and help with the stupidity of fighting Pokemon being weak to Snorlax's good defensive quick move.

I'm not complaining, but I think a raspberry + Pokeball just instantly caught a Sudowoodo; it didn't even seem like it shook once. I'm not sure if that's a thing, and I suppose I could be wrong though.

There's a thing called a "critical catch" where the ball only spins once and it's a guaranteed catch. Happens pretty seldom but it's a thing ha

Cool, I heard about the name, but didn't know what it was.

Also, it looks like the good folks over at Reddit already did some data crunching (or at least put up links to places that did) for the update movesets.

Overall balance between types seems much better, with pretty much every type move having some good options, and fighting types should be awesome for taking down Blisseys now with another buff for counter and rock smash. Machamp and Heracross are going to be awesome, and even Poliwrath should be pretty damn good. Gengar with shadow claw should be a very fast general attacker (glass cannon), Exeggutor with confusion should be a monster, and great as a defender, etc.

I finally caught a Heracross with Counter and Close Combat. It's low IV, so I don't think I'll upgrade it, but it should be good for practicing and taking down mid-level CP defenders, if not a high CP Blissey:

Also evolved this guy who should be a decent Snorlax and maybe even Blissey counter, and has good IV:

Heracross is the "Central America" regional exclusive. It should spawn below the North American regional exclusive Tauros line, which is somewhere around Central Florida.

Has anyone caught any Party Hat Pikachus yet? I have two so far.

On a side note, I feel that the diversity of Gen 1 spawns may have gone up recently. I saw multiple Voltorb on my university campus in one day, when I hardly ever see them anywhere around here, and saw more Omanyte around than normal, as well as more Rhyhorn than normal.

Sorry, I meant I hatched the first Stage from an egg and used that candy to evolve it. That's why there's only 8 candy; I think it was 32 from the hatch -25(+1) for evolving.

I'm at 189 caught, 196 seen.

My dex is getting plump ha. I finally got 2 10k eggs today (my first 10s since gen 2) so I'm excited for them. I have yet to hatch anything gen 2. Ponyta and krabby every damn day still.

There's a Water Pokémon even going on now:
http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-news/make-a-splash-in-pokemon-go/
So far I've caught a Lanturn and seen another on the tracker this morning. I'm hoping to catch a Lapras, as it's one of the last Gen 1 Pokémon I don't have that I can't get by walking/evolving. I'm also hoping to get a Feraligator, as it's the last final evolution starter I need.

I also hatched this guy:

He may not look like much right now, but he has a max CP of over 3000 when he evolves.

event doesnt start until 4pm EST (1p PDT)...

I have a 98% phanpy I caught totally by luck like day 2 of gen2... prob gonna evolve him tonight actually since ive got 9 10k eggs in the hopper about to hatch... gonna pop an egg, hopefully hatch a bunch of larvitars or mareeps and then mass evolve a bunch to clear out my space. Should be a fun, nerd filled evening haha

Nice! Has the event really not started? I've seen more water evolutions on the tracker than normal already today. If it gets even better, that's even better, haha. My Phanpy is 87%. No Larvatar for me yet, and no more Mareep since the one I hatched a little while ago.

Nope, hasn't started yet. Nest migration tonight should be interesting too.

Shadows are:
Farfetch'd / mr. mime (someone dropped them in a gym)
Steelix (will evolve tonight)
Politoad (need another kings rock)
Tyranitar (waiting to see if I get any amazing hatches tonight... I have the candy to evolve the 80% larv I have)
Kingdra (need scale)

Hoping now that 7day spins will guarantee an evolution item that I'll get the rock/scale soon and not just more of what I don't need (have an extra upgrade and sun stone already)

Also, did you see they formally found shiny code! Can't wait to see what they look like:IMG_1490203273.117631.jpg

I'm excited for the shinies! Last time I checked they hadn't figured out what determines if it's a shiny, but the odds of a shiny in the Gameboy games are the same as the odds of a 100% IV Pokémon in GO, which would be awesome; 100% Pokémon being shiny. I'd have a few already.

The only evolution items I've gotten so far are a Sun Stone (for Bellossom) and two Dragon Scales (I have one Kingdra and need a little more candy to evolve another).

Shiny Karp and Gyarados look to be the only ones out for now. Ive seen a few pics on reddit and such since the event kicked off.

Also, lapras is everywhere now ha. There literally had been a total of 4 confirmed lapras spawns ALL TIME in the Atlanta area (and im talking like a 75+mi radius) until 4pm yesterday... now theyre about as rare as pidgey haha.

Also, shiny seems to be individual; not everyone will get a shiny from the same spawn, which can help prevent spoofing/tracking cheating to catch shinies. This means that 100% IV probably isn't going to be shiny, as IVs are the same for everyone at a given spawn. I have yet to see a Lapras yet though, haha.

Yeah I like the individual thing so people actually have to play to get them... so annoying all the spoofing that goes on.

Ever ever. I haven't seen/caught/hatched one yet, only seen them in gyms. Lapras and Porygon are the only Gen 1 Pokémon I don't have that I can't walk to evolve and aren't regional exclusives. I still need to evolve to get Cleffable, Machamp, Magneton, Muk, and Omastar from Gen 1.

man, that's a bummer. I got my first in Pitt at thanksgiving and then of course hatched like 3 within a month after ha. I got really lucky with pory and stumbled across a random one early on and then during the vday event they were EVERYWHERE in the seatac airport. I want thinking and only saved 2, 1 to evolve (which I have since) but now I have plenty of candy and an extra upgrade sitting around ha.

Damn, that's awesome.

I finally caught a Lapras! I went to the gym with a friend and checked the radar when I got to my car, and there was a Lapras right by one of the Pokestops in the mall the gym was attached to. She's low CP and IV, but I'm just happy I finally have a Lapras:

Now Porygon is the only non-regional Gen 1 Pokémon that I don't have that I can't get from walking to evolve (Cleffable, Machamp, Magneton, and Muk are left).
I also got two metal coats recently, one from a spin that I think was a 10th spin bonus, and one on today's 7th day streak bonus. Evolved a Scizor that should be a great Exeggutor counter (double super effective stack, and resists grass and psychic attacks):

And a Steelix that doesn't have that great of a moveset, but is still pretty cool:

That's an awesome moveset for the steelix! I have now gotten 3 upgrades and had only saved two porygon (just 1 to evolve) even tho I have a ton of candy. During the vday event when I was in Seattle the airport was covered in them so I stocked up but didn't think to keep more than a pair. Derp.

I'm down to walking my mareep to get ampharos and then the rest of my gen 2 are luck- kingdra, politoed, tyrogue. Hate that it's out of my control ha

Is it? I was going by the Silph Road info:
https://thesilphroad.com/catalog#208
Either way, he's still pretty cool, and he could make a pretty cool and unique defender, just to change things up a bit. I really like the Scizor's moveset, as I realized he is super effective against Espeon and resists his attacks. Makes him a good attacker against two strong defenders. I also like my Kingdra with dual dragon attacks as a general attacker, as he has a double resistance to water and fire, has very few weaknesses, and has largely unresisted moves.

You already have all the other Gen 2 Pokémon? You have Tyranitar? I still haven't even seen a Larvatar, and need a Feraligator from the new starters.

I just like it because it's a unique moveset and not his type which can make it more effective since you get his normal strengths but he can be a good attacker against things he might normally not be.

And yep on the ttar and the rest, just hatched another larv this morning actually (only my 2nd tho).

Anyone still playing GO? The Easter egg event (lots of good Pokemon from 2km eggs and double exp) is great; I finally got a good Lapras with 2 ice moves.

Yep. Gonna hit lvl 35 tomorrow for sure before the event ends. Picked up a 25 pack of lucky eggs too just from gym collecting. Haven't hatched anything fun really tho cuz I've only been using the unlimited incubator and saving my coins for the eggs

And yeah, got me a k unown (pic isn't working)

Finished the gen2 dex Wednesday... not sure when, but some time during the day I finally got the king's rock I need for Politoed... never saw it come up but it was in my bag, so that works ha. Now its just grinding out leveling up until new ones come out. That and catching more unowns ha. That should only take 15 years...

Nice! You're the Pokémon master of AM, haha. I still haven't gotten a King's Rock yet, so I need 2. What are your top CP Pokémon? Any favorites?

I cant post screenshots anymore from the app for some stupid reason. Highest CP's are:
Dragonite: 3238 (82%), 3107 (53%), 3081 (62%) - All able to be powered up 2-3x if they ever come home from the gym ha
Tyranitar: 3206 (91%) - can be powered up a bunch, prob 3500ish
Snorlax: 2963 (82%), 2921(76%), 2916(62%), 2900(89%) - All can be powered up 2-3x or more
Gyarados: 3010(89%), 2884(60%), 2841(42% - Shiny tho)
Blissey: 2738(78%), 2734(89%) - both with room to power (never have enough candies tho ha)

A couple misc vaporeon (27-2900) and rhydon (2903) too round out most of my gym dwellers

My biggest issue was stardust tho... rarely had enough to power things up when they get big. Lately I have had most of my tops sitting in gyms for awhile so I've been able to hoard 330k dust. Really only the Lax's/Blissey's I need candy for too so the others its just "if" they come home.

Favorite for sure is the Ttar. He will be my best as soon as he returns and I power him up.

Agreed! Definitely the AM Master. I'm barely half way on the first pokedex.

Nice. My highest CP is a 76% Dragonite (2990 CP) with probably 2-3 more power ups available, with the old "legacy" moveset of Dragon Breath and Dragon Pulse.

My highest Snorlax is 2699 CP (91% IV) with ZH and Eq, but my 2351 CP (86% IV) with ZH and HB is probably who I'd max out.

I also really like Exeggutor, since he has pretty high CP, does a lot of damage while being pretty tanky, and has good offensive and defensive moves. Confusion + Solar Beam is actually a really good Blissey counter, especially if it has Zen Headbut, and Confusion + Seed Bomb is a PITA of a defender, haha. I have a 2512 CP (91%) with C/Solar Beam and 2414 CP with C/Seed Bomb.

I also like Heracross with dual fighting moves and Ursaring with counter and close combat or hyper beam as Blissey counters. I finally evolved a Machamp, and he got counter + dynamic punch, which is awesome.

Scissor with dual bug moves is awesome against Exeggutor, dual fighting Poliwrath is a great Tyranitar counter, and Kingdra is a great general attacker/prestiger. I just hope that a future gym rebalance would make some cooler Pokémon more relevant as defenders. I like diversity.

Totally agree with a rebalance that would make it more diverse. Around me if you're mons aren't 2700+ they'll be at the bottom of any gym. Most gyms are 2800+ with about 40% being all 3k or more. It's crazy. I couldn't even use eggs, poli, or half the ones you like in gyms without being the bottom. I only really use those as disposable prestigers and battlers.

I have two machamps and neither one has even a single fighting move ha. So mad. I do have like 3 ursa with c/cc tho so they're my normal blissey counter.
