Feeling pretty awesome today, my friends. I was baptised through the Catholic church as an infant, but yesterday, I made the decision to be baptised at my new church. It's a great feeling in knowing that it was my decision and not tradition.
God Bless you all,
Jim
For some reason the Holy Spirit has led me to ask if your are saved?
FYI - I am posting links to a couple threads that some of you new guys and older guys may have missed. If there is an interest in the topics and discussion please post such in the threads linked below.
At this time the Social Group is closed and I am not sure I will be able to invest the time in keeping it up to the level I like and I am accustomed to presenting but time will tell.
Anyway...enjoy!

Absolutely blu! I have gone through some tremendous trails here lately, I, myself, strayed from the trail, my wife was layed off from her job, and my 19 year old son was on a drunken stuper, well on his way to becoming an alcoholic. It's only through the love of the Lord, my God, that I have pulled through. He is a merciful and loving God.

Jim,
Congratulations on this. It will change your life forever.
I was sprinkled as a child in the Presbyterian Church, and I am sure that was a nice ceremony for my parents and family members. I left the Presbyterian Church many, many years later when they I found out that - as hard as it may seem to believe - the Pastoral Staff of my Church (and others above them, including and up to the Executive Presbyter of the Presbyterian Governing Body in Southern California) were parties to a cover up of my ex-wife’s affair. All of this caused me to think about my spiritual journey, and question some of the past traditions I had participated in; especially when I could not find a Biblical basis for a good deal of what we had been doing. And all of this gave me cause to find a Biblical-based Church; one based on establishing a relationship with Jesus Christ, rather than ceremony and non-Biblical tradition.
I read about Baptism, and what it meant; truly meant. I asked questions and spoke to elders. I looked at the essence of Baptism, and realized that meaningfully accepting Christ as the Son of God, and confessing your sins and repenting of them, is decision, confession, and a commitment an infant is incapable of making.
So, although I long ago accepted Christ in my heart, I obeyed the Gospel and was baptized in December 2009; four days before I married my wife in a covenant-based ceremony.
This was the best decision of my life.
I got a great recharge out of it the second time, same as the first! Great admonition and reminder of what a "real man" is. Thanks brother Dave.
Hey Fellas,
Please pray for my son who is in the hospital, we had been going in and out of emergency since Saturday evening, and ended up with the ambulance taking us in there.
He started shaking and I sure couldnt tell the difference between a seizure and a bad case of the chills and called 911 immediately, and I was applying a warm cloth to his forehead, neck, and back to cool him down.
He had a fever over 100, and yesterday it hit its peak of 40.4 degrees celsius, for those like me who dont know what that is it is 104.72 Fahrenheit.
Fortunately the Tylenol is keeping the fever down, and the antibiotics are doing there job, yesterday he did not need to be administered the tylenol as much which to me indicates his fever is slowly going away.
Anyways Im a complete scatter brain, and my only priority at this time is my son's healthy and safety, and to reduce the amount of pain inflicted on my son at the hospital.
It turns out to be a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) and it took 2 hours to finally find a vein for the IV.
He was throwing up his medication and not keeping his water down even though he would drink a lot.
All in all my labor day weekend was truly a weekend of non-stop labor to keep my son alive.
The doctors have run several blood tests, did a catheter, and they may have to do another one.. This is where good CHristian goes out the window, and I see my son suffering at what I perceive to be half a$$ed foot dragging hospital policies. Get the job done, do it right, and do it now! No need for repeats especially when my son is in constant pain, and is jabbed like a pin cushion.
Why the need for the repeated tests? They have before, during, and after conditions met.
They are trying to rule out any possibility the kidneys may have become infected, or started to get infected or any abnormality there.
ANyways I am unusually frustrated, have a very short fuse about all this and am praying that God have mercy on my son, and his health, he is a baby, and a very happy baby even through this mess he is still playful with me and his mom, and we spend the night together and he looks for us.
Please keep him in your prayers, that The Great Physician guide the hands of the doctors, and clears the minds from distractions of the nurses and lab techs, and give them clarity and wisdom.
Thank you all.

@BlueHealer Not yet, they don't know exactly what it is, and they want to eliminate the chance its a kidney infection. I did some reading last night and the reflux into the kidneys can be corrected surgically. I may have the pages open on my browser at home and will pm you later on tonight with them.
No "parts" replacement, just some structural procedure, but the diagram was for males, and their urethra is longer than a females.
Im borderline hysterical and God is keeping it in check, am trying to hold back the tears no joke.

Sounds like a pretty safe bet that his kidneys were infected if it's become systemic with fever! I'm praying for the little fella too, my friend.
Bluehealer, check this out for your daughter:
2g/day of D-Mannose may afford your daughter an alternative to chronic ABs. I suggest you look into it bro. Natural, non-toxic, and promotes no antibiotic resistance! It's sweet too, so kids shouldn't complain about taking it.

Also, taking Xylitol daily has been shown to lower cavities in kids by up to 70% while also providing protection from recurrent UTIs, yeast infections, and even ear and respiratory infections.

Either one of these might be something to consider if your kids are prone to recurrent infections, and you don't want them taking ABs all the time.
God bless the children and the parents who care for them!
An opportunity for a new job that may lead to greater utilization of my skills and greater fulfillment down the road but less money. It will very easily be a rate increase but they can only gaurantee 40hrs at this time. The difference would equate to $12k+ decrease in gross.
God grant me wisdom.

Really I am only as unhappy as I chose to be. The fulfillment and achievement is where I struggle. Based on my post above it is my believe, from evidence and experience, that the fulfillment and achievement that service for the Lord delivers will substantially exceed any I would find at any employer. How unhappy are you at your current job?
A point I did not mention in my OP is that the shift will be a swing shift of 12:00 noon to 8:30PM. This will cut into my family, most importantly, my Father-Daughter time. It would be a very big disruption to the small amount of balance that this busy family has.
Additionally this shift will interfere with my evening Mens' Ministries service and fellowship opportunities as well as my own growth in group study and fellowship.
My employment is what I do for money, and is ultimately a vehicle and means to an ends - supporting my family. It is only a job.
On the other hand I work for the Lord. I know that my service for him in reaching other men in my mens' ministry work and is my calling and my gift and work for an eternity.
My heart tells me what is right and my head tries to convince me otherwise. I'll be in prayer as I have to have an answer before noon tomorrow.
Thanks for the prayer and support.

I am presently slotted to lead and or participate in some significant Mens' Ministry work at my church that I have witness transform the life of other men and their families as well as my own.
I am leaning in a direction.
Thanks!Sounds like a no brainer to me brother Since you feel it's just a job and know that it will interfere with everything that is of eternal importance with the only benefit of the new job being the utilization of skills you have acquired. Just my 2 cents, you're a man who prays I'm sure you will have God's guidance on the matter.
Hey. Just going to update this...
I chose to decline the position and thanked them for the sincere interest and asked them to keep me in their mind if a regular schedule shift became available. I believe I made a very good impression on them.
I'm excited to start of a new 24 week session of Invalid Link Removed this next Thursday night. This is my true passion and I know God will reward me and bless me and my family for my trust, faithfulness and above all - obedience.
Thanks for the prayer and support.
I think you made a good choice DD. Spending time with your children while they are still young is so very important. I was on 24 hour call, 7 days a week when my first two children were young and I missed out on a lot. I was fortunate to have a second chance at raising my third child with a normal job schedule. It is fantastic. She came ten years after my son and is definately a gift from the Lord. Cherish the time you have with them NOW. Soon, it will be too late.

Luke 2:49 (New King James Version)
And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”
A man was sleeping one night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light, and God appeared.
The Lord told the man he had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to Push against the rock with all his might...
So, this the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sunup to sundown, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might! Each night the man returned to his cabin sore and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain. Since the man was showing discouragement, the adversary (Satan) decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the weary mind: (He will do it every time)! You have been pushing against
that rock for a long time and it hasn't moved.' Thus, he gave the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure. These thoughts discouraged and disheartened the man.
Satan said, 'Why kill yourself over this? Just put in your time, giving just the minimum effort; and that will be good enough.' That's what the weary man planned to do, but decided to make it a matter of Prayer and to take his troubled thoughts to the Lord. 'Lord,' he said, 'I have labored long and hard in Your Service, putting all my strength to do that which You have asked. Yet, after all this time, I have not even budged that rock by half a millimeter. What is wrong? Why am I failing?'
The Lord responded compassionately, 'My friend, when I asked you to serve Me and you accepted, I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all of your strength, which you have done. Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your task was to push. And now you come to Me with your strength spent, thinking that you have failed.. But, is that really so? Look at yourself.. Your arms are strong and muscled, your back shiny and brown; your hands are callused from constant pressure, your legs have become massive and hard. Through opposition you have grown much, and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have.
True, you haven't moved the rock. But your calling was to be Obedient and to push and to exercise your Faith and trust in My Wisdom. That you have done. Now I, my friend, will move the rock.'
At times, when we hear a word from God, we tend to use our own intellect to decipher what He Wants, when actually what God wants is just simple obedience and faith in Him..
By all means, exercise the Faith that moves mountains, but know that it is still God Who moves the Mountains.
Hey guys,
Have a short encouraging testimony to share with you all that are exciting, it is quite shocking to say the least...
We just had a phone call today from India with a testimony shared by one of my family's friends, it was a testimony about some folks who were Preaching to hindu's and had a clash with some extremists, about 100 of them or so, these Christians were beheaded....Whats interesting is, angels were said to have appeared just after they had their heads severed and miraculously restored them to the bodys of the dead Christians, they were transported into the midst of those radical hindu folks who beheaded them, they were shocked as they said ... What kind of God is this that brings the dead back to life? After that event approximately 90% or so of those radical folks from that one incident gave their lives to Jesus and got saved that day. This has been verified, I beleive the event took place in Gujarat, in an area called Bhuj, in India.
If i get any more details or updates on this story I shall keep you guys posted. Please be encouraged and blessed as you read this. We ARE in the last days, and Jesus is still alive and working miracles in the lives of people today, just like this story. God bless you guys!

I have a prayer request. My final custody hearing to gain (hopefully) custody of my 5 year old son is tomorrow. Its been a very long and hard road to get here, and I hope and pray that the judge sides with me as it is in the best interest of my son to be with me. I also want to say thank you to Dr. D who has gone out of his way to help me out and listen to what I've been going through the past 3 years with this. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow.
