new quest bar flavor!?

Quest needs to make moderate protein poptarts. Enough bars... :p

I love there peanut butter cups... First time I tried one i couldn't believe that the thing was suppose to be healthy for you.

I would love to see high protein ice cream... I still can't figure out why this isn't available yet

Hard to mainstream, is it a supplement? Or a food product? Labeling, shelf life, consistency and claims all come into effect,

I looked into it about 9 months ago

I crumble them in milk and eat with a spoon. I love quest and that is my favorite product of theirs.

Most e-tailers wouldnt want to pay to keep them in freezers in their warehouses. Would be a tougher sell to grocery chains... I like the idea, just thinking of some logistical reasons why we might not see protein ice cream.

I guess I can understand that... I would think with so many people lifting and into fitness/health there would be a decent market for it. Until then I think i'm gonna buy an ice cream maker and mess around with some recipes using whey and/or greek yogurt.

I looked into some time ago as well and I think I remember somewhere in Europe that it is available. But yea I can see some of those issues coming up.

Links to this ? I was just about to order another 12 x 12 order of the bars straight from Quest. As well as some of their low-carb/high fiber pasta. This is quite a big deal to me.

Allegedly way off on the fiber content.
this doesn't surprise me at all
I'm not one to celebrate the downfall or problems of any company in our industry, but when it comes to label issues it is a black eye for all companies in the business when a company pulls that sh1t
having dealt with the owners of that outfit as well previously, I can say that on a personal level:
karma, man -- it is a mofo

The type of fiber they use (iso-malto-oligo saccharides) are does contain a small amount of calories. They are fermented in the large intestine and yield about 1.5-2 calories per gram as opposed to 4 calories per gram as carbohydrates do. Manufactures are not required to count fiber calories on the label because most fiber does not have caloric value iirc. So I believe most of the bars have around 15-19g of this fiber yealding around 30-50 extra calories per bar. Not a huge deal but should be noted on the label in my opinion

Thanks for clarifying. Agreed that while the label should be accurate, this is not a big deal at all. Won't stop me from continuing to use their products.

It will if the lawsuit breaks the bank and they no longer continue making products. That will sadden me. I'm a fan of quest bars in a pinch.

What if I told you I came up with a recipe for Quest bars that I could sell for the same price, same flavor but organic, stevia sweetened, and same fiber but not synthetic like thiers? I'm pitching it to an investor now that owns a chain of supp stores in my area. I'm even working on sweet/sour flavors like a sour patch kids version :)

So excited!!!! The most recent new bars have been significantly more tasty! My unlikely but absolute favorite is white chocolate rasberry. Tied for second is the cookie dough and double chocolate (much better than chocolate brownie)

Sounds like a novel idea. I'd be interested enough to look at the ingredient panel and the profile of the bar itself. Key lime flavor would be pretty rad if you could make it happen. Keep us posted on how it goes, hopefully we see your stuff on shelves sooner than later.

I would be game. I have yet to find a bar as tasty as quest but with similar if not better macros. Power crunch bars are the most tasty however their macros are eh ...

I did a Key Lime, found those that tried it found it to be too hard to balance the sweet vs tart consistantly from bar to bar as well as the acidity causing stomach discomfort in some. I was more successful with a sour apple batch. One of the flavors I'm most excited about is a watermelon with a slightly more taffy consistancy (imagine closer to a "Starburst") that i find is something no one has been able to resist.

Biggest issue I'm running into is the cost of the extruders to mass production and caloric testing for nutritonal labeling. Anyway if people got ideas for bar flavors send me a PM on them, I'll ship you a quanity of bars in that flavor back as a thanks for the idea.

This is pretty rad. Please keep us updated. I'm already a big fan of quest bars too.

will do. Please send flavor ideas over to me on PM. Got alot so far but almost all are ones tried (successful, not, or otherwise), too limited on demand (prune flavor, really??) or impractical due to spoilage. However you guys are a great source of inspiration, am interested in hearing more. Hoping if things go well I can sell these in bulk at reduced prices for bulk shipping to serious consumers.

In England we have a brand called Wheyhey ice cream using WPI.

Good stuff, surprisingly taste and similar texture to ice cream. The downside is the astronomical cost for a small tub. It actually puts me off buying it at all because I don't want to like it and have to finance an expensive habit lol.

Seems like you could use your protein powder to make your own though. I know that breezy has recipes for ice cream using USP protein. May be worth a look.

I think everyone should check out breezys thread. Thread is inspiration

Ill post a review when i get my hands on this, but im sure this will be a hit the last 4 flavor releases were on point, quest seems to have mastered the flavoring that works best with the base components of their bars.

I hope it taste like oreos or a hershey cnc bar either will be awesome.

White chocolate raspberry by far. I have tried all the flavors except the banana one (because I hate bananas).

Oh dear. CCCD has my top spot right now but this could be a contender

Last night made a "butter sugar cookie". Even rolled the outside in a Xylitol crystal mix to give it that sugar cookie texture my mom used to make. Pretty..freakin... awesome.. :)

"Butter Sugar Cookie." That sound like it needs to be the next quest bar flavor....

I have high expectations for this bar hoping it can top CCCD since that bar has come out nothing has really been close for me.

It has a chance of topping CCCD solo, if it is exceptional; but CCCD will always have a place for me. Breaking it into cookie dough balls and adding to ice cream = amazing.
