Need a protein powder that doesn't wreck my gut

I've been using G N C's Wheybolic for a long time but it never left a good affect on my gut. Too much gas. But I need something after a good lifting session. Is there anything out there that goes easier on your gut or are they pretty much all the same? I usually blend it with some skim milk, strawberries, blue berries, rasberries and blackberries. Recommendations?

A whey/casein blend is both more effective and easier on the gut, as the casein digests slower and extends the period of protein synthesis.
A blend with added digestive enzymes is what you should look for, PES Select Protein has been my favourite since its release and no gut issues at all.

If you want to stick to whey I would take a look at Cellucor's protein.

USP's OxyElite Pro is another that I have used with no bloat/gut issues

There's plenty of user reviews that would say PES Select protein is the answer to your problems. The flavors are amazing as well. Thank me later. :)

select is a great productz! also have a look at iForces line of quality proteans as well as VPXs. all great quality protein sources.

I've had similar issues.

If you're looking for a good non-dairy, vegetarian-based protein, research Vega-One.

I'm lactose intolerant, so if I intend to have more than one shake in a day, I need to avoid whey concentrate or I feel miserable. I think I read that casein's got lactose as well, but don't quote me on that. I just make my own blend, since I prefer blends and all the ones without lactose are expensive.

I'm lactose intolerant.
guys - if he wanted non-dairy or was lactose intolerant, he wouldn't/shouldn't be using the milk in his shakes, rather water instead....
I am not a wheybolic fan, but that is lactose-free isolate/hydrolysate mix, and if you are having problems I would first try eliminating the added milk you are using

other than incredibly poor taste and ridiculous pricing, I have heard no previous complaints from ppl re. stomach issues while using this

Good point. I missed the milk part. Definitely try mixing with water as a first fix if your protein is already lactose-free. Insofar as knowing he has lactose intolerance, I've known a number of people to develop it suddenly in their late teens or early 20's (myself included... took 6 months of unhappiness to figure it out).

Another idea is to drop a cap of digestive enzymes with your shake... perhaps you're kicking back the berries or something.

Better than water, mix in almond/coconut milk.

Regardless, there is still an undisclosed amount of milk concentrate in the Wheybolic 60.

I have a sensitive stomach & have to watch what I take in. I bought pes select protein wondering if it would cause havoc to my stomach. I use lactaid milk with it & I've had no issues. I also use a probiotic & ginger caps that help me tremendously.

Vitasport's Pro7ein is pretty easy on the gut. It is a blend of 7 different forms of protein, however it's not the best tasting stuff in the world.

The only protein I'll even touch is from now on is from JBN (Just Be Natural).

They were at the Olympia and I grabbed a few samples at their booth along with their pre-workout.

Absolutely no stomach issues whatsoever.

Makes me wonder what kind of crap is added or at least where other companies source their protein.

Check them out! jbn (dot) com

Also, USP Labs protein seems to work out pretty well too. Gotta give them some credit haha.

Haha it wouldn't let me post a link. But no noobie here.

I used to be around the forum when Iron Lungz was around here, I just took a little break.

How ya been??

iron lungz - there's a blast from the past
good dude, wonder what he's into these days..
well welcome back then....you seem to be a fairly tall dude

Thanks! Yea I've been focusing on my consulting business and it's finally picking up momentum.

I've been way out of the loop as far as supplements and what the latest craze is, lol.

Went to the Olympia in October and started to get back into the swing of things.

one thing you can always be sure of:
the latest craze is sure to be ever-changing, and ever-evolving..(and many/most times not worth a damn anyway)
history teaches us this

the Olympia is always good for resurrecting the hunger of old tho, very inspirational..also helps push out those latest "craze" products you speak of eh?

:D

Didn't even realize 'craze' was a supplement, lol.

It's insane how many companies there are there!

I still stand behind JBN's protein though!

I would look at the Muscle Feast whey isolate or even their Casien amd Premium Protein Blend. They do not have any extra fillers and crap and are naturally sweetened.

Sign up for their newsletter and they will set you up with an account with a permanent 26% discount off the advertised prices on thier site.

It pretty much the only protein I buy anymore and I have yet to have any stomach issues with any of their products.

I would also recommend Muscle Feast, TrueNutrition, or NOW. These 3 companies have the cleanest highest quality protein powders I have ever used. Absolutely no bloating, cramps, gas, or any other form of stomach issues from the protein produced by these 3 companies.

I'll have to give Muscle Feast a shot as well just to maybe mix things up a bit. Any flavor recommendations?

Good proteins not in any necessary order

PES select
Oxy elite protein
Pro complex (not a blender)
Monster protein
Intek
Myofusion
Trutritiom protein

I used to like pro complex..then I found out how it was made, and the isolate was ion-exchange process
not a fan -- esp at that kind of price, for something that destroys the nutritive properties of the dang protein to begin with

Cellucor whey is awesome. Pronom 23 is great! Trutien was a bit disappointing in the taste department. *they didn't do peanut butter well according to my taste buds*...more to the point. How much protien are you getting a day? If it's over 1g per lb that's where people get gas. Just raise fiber.

Try out Beverly International's UMP Protein powder. Easy on the stomach and is super clean, just like the rest of the supplements that they make.

Hmmm, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Muscle Tech's Nitro Core yet.

Wait! I forgot.

This thread focuses on proteins that don't turn your stomach, crop-dust strangers in public and send you running to the bathroom to spray porcelain.

Haha

protein doesn't usually upset my stomach...but isolates are usally a bit lighter on the stomach, something like isotean

Pro complex is reasonably priced for the profile you get per serving.
debatable
any protein you are paying top dollar for, using ancient and outdated processing methods that destroys the nutritive portions of the protein, is really not a good deal even if it were free

Would be interested in hearing non ion filtered options? I always went with procomplex because I want the highest yield of protein per gram.

Going a little off topic but thoughts on Carnivor?
horrible
bev international used to make a great beef protein (Ultra Size), but discontinued it in favor of new design UMP
theirs was the only beef protein in existence that did not use crap beef gelatin for their protein
carnivore is substandard beef sourcing

The muscle provider contains concentrate not a big fan of that idea for the price you are paying per serving and the additional lactose.. what else you have in mind?

oh I'm not recommending my friend, you just wanted suitable comparison to pro complex, so i gave you one
me, i don't go all gung-ho on specific proteins..actually use couple different kinds that i pick up on the cheap from my dude who runs his own supp shop

bottom line, I'm a real food kind of guy, much prefer me some steak over a shake :)

I have tried both their chocolate and unflavored powders. They use stevia (reb 97)in their natural flavoring system. I must say that I am not a fan of stevia as all forms of stevia taste more bitter than sweet to me. Taste wise, the chocolate is light and slightly bitter, even more so with the premium blend due to the hydro whey. Tastes kind of like a very lightly sweetened dark chocolate flavor. I'm not a fan of vanilla or strawberry so I've never tried those. The unflavored is not too bad and I prefer it. It can be slightly bitter but it pretty much tastes like really clean milk powder. I am used to drinking unflavored proteins now, but occasionally I'll add some honey and/or cocoa powder. If I had to pick a flavored one, I would say you can't really go wrong with chocolate.

Always good to know someone that's for sure. A shake can never beat a slab of steak I agree.

Threw a red flag for me.

Take w grain of salt

Add up the macros that's your serving size. Then add you "sweeteners" that accounts for 3-5g additional for the scoop

So example

100 cals

23 protein
1g carb
.5 fat

25g serving. Scooper size 30cc or 30-32g BC it needs to account for sweeteners

Just saying
