I'll answer these as I get to them and not in any specific order:
What does Hollywood have to do with technological advances? I get the feeling you completely missed the point. Cell phones, GPS, jet airliners, computers, etc. all came about due to military research.
I have never heard anyone say the most of the things we enjoy today come from church.
The NBA has virtually nothing to do with the U.S. economy.
"Clinton was the most adorable U.S. President in past quarter of a century" WTF do you base that on? I spent quite a bit of time overseas during the Clinton years and he was an international joke.
Why did the attacks happen? Many of the seeds of hatred were sown during the creation of the Israeli state which was pushed by the Europeans more than the U.S. Yes, we have lent them our support and rightfully so in my opinion. The Russian invasion of Afghanistan was also a major influence in the socio-economic situation in which the hatred grows. The U.S. support of the Afghani insurgency during said Russian occupation and our subsequant withdrawal of that support after the Russians left allowed the Taliban to spread. Osama himself was angered when he was not allowed to recruit his own army to expel Hussein from Kuwait. Instead, nearly every middle eastern nation supported the coalition.
I'm sure the argument will be made that we had no business intervening in the middle east in the first place. All I'll say to that is look at the impact on the economy that unstable oil prices have had, both in the 70's and today. Who's to blame for our dependance on oil.....we all are.
That's pretty much all I've got to say in this thread. After reading your responses to what others have posted, you are not going to change my mind. I respect the fact that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I truly believe you are naive when it comes to international relations and foreign policy.
