Kabuki's "VIDEO" Log - a little crazy fun for everyone

Thanks, I just took some caliper measurements this morning. What they calculate out to means jack **** as it’s obviously not right…but the delta between where I started does mean something.

April last year (average of 3 measurements)
Thighs 15mm*
Chest 14mm*
Abs 22mm*
Abdomen @ Widest 42”
* Taken about 3 weeks into the start of my cut after loosing several lbs first.

This morning (took largest of 3 measurements)
Thighs 6mm
Chest 6mm
Abs 9mm
Abdomen @ widest 34.5”

Now the recent measurements say i'm at below 7% BF wich is absolute HORSESHIT. I'm guessing I'm in the very low teens however. I'm about 214 in the morning and 218 in the evening right now. Down 30lbs from when I started and 40lbs from my peak.

The combo of Recreate, Anabolic Pump, and a decent diet has done wonders.

Nice work Kabuki. That's a dramatic change, but it's too bad that your lifting numbers have gotten so embarrassing in the process. ;)

I'm actually heavier than you. Crazy...

Hurt myself this weekend :(
My low back hasn’t felt balanced the last few weeks and I should have known better as the weights felt heavy for last weeks deadlift and for this weeks…

735x0 Right as I was going to lock I felt my back pop so I set it down.

Did some heat, ice, stretching, and Epsom salt baths this weekend. Going to try and get in and get some Active Release Therapy done on it today. I’m still breaking in the suit I’m wearing so I need to squat this Wednesday. Unfortunately the ART will be out of pocket as I’m between insurers with leaving old job and starting new one. New insurance doesn’t kick in till next month. Oh well.

The active Release Therapy helped. I’m know where near 100% but I was able to bench last night. Due to time restrictions I did not get any assistance work in…yet again.

Bench

Also bumped my Super Cissus intake up to 6+/day in the short term and taking massive amounts of digestive enzymes on an empty stomach per my ART practitioners recommendation. Supposed to help clean up all the free radicals from the injury when taken on empty stomach. Anyway taking 10X recommended dose 3-4 times a day.

I’ve got every confidence that between the recuperative efforts and Super Cissus dosing I will recover amazingly fast as I always do.

have not seen you drop in for awhile. yep its amazing how small i've gotten...i don't even feel like a big guy anymore.

I'm doing ART. google friction massage! My art therapist recommends this.

you get super cissus for free dont cha?

i'll check it out. you'll LOVE ART....especialy if you like pain:biglaugh:

Had some more ART done yesterday. Really starting to feel like I’m making some progress after that session. And going to run in and hit it again at lunch today, and maybe do some light reverse hyper work this weekend.

Sent in the forms and payment for my COBRA health benefits today to cover me till my new companies insurance kicks in. Because all this out of pocket will add up quick at this frequency.

yeah it takes a few sessions fo r me anyways to get in the groove. My arm isnt fully healed it is a lot better.(Ive been to four sessions including today) takes time to learn your body as you know strong man!

Had some more ART work done on Friday. Hit some other areas such as the hammies as we hit the back the day before.
Did some stretching on Friday and Saturday.
Sunday I did some light Reverse Hypers
Jumped out and did another set of 25 Reverse Hypers before heading out the door to work this morning.

I felt really good after the sets Sunday night but I think the one set this morning was not quite enough.

nice avatar! cookie monster was my hero when i was a kid !

i think the amount of weight you lift is absolutely demented. i'm pretty sure i'd be happy with a workout that hit your warmup numbers. keep it up man! :D

TODAY I START MY 20Lb 24hr Cut.

started feeling funny yesterday before lunch but after eating felt fine the rest of the day...untill last night when i started to get some light diahrea.

Weighed 217.4 after episode which is 19lbs over were i need to be by Friday Morning.

Woke up today the day i'm supposed to start doing my cut. Was not planning on starting cut till around 10-12 this morning. But had a lot of diahrea this morning and feeling very depleted as of right now. I don't feel sick so not sure if something just disagreed with me or not.

Weighed 212 after episode and 214.4 after light breakfast.

This is not a good development at all and I've got a lot of thinking to do today.

Still have things to figure out today for meet on Saturday like renting chairs, make a couple hour drive to pick up light box, call and see where the F*** the trophies are, pick up trailer to move equip, not to mention a full day of work and meetings I have to hold that I have to get through first. Same time I need to decide if I'm truly sick and if I'm going to compete as my back is still not 100%. I have another ART session scheduled which I obviously need to cancel with my current plan fo the day, but perhaps I can squeeze it in tommorrow...although i'm not working tommorrow its quite busy as well :(

Anyway on a good note....I had to quite wearing my wedding ring yesterday. I've leaned out to the point where I was worried it was going to fall off. Have to get it resized now. And I'm on the last belt loop of the brand new belts my wife bought me just a couple months ago.

But my damn crazy hectic life right now is killin me...but thats kind of what Kabuki likes:thefinger

if you decide to go for it, could you detail your competition cut? thanks, and good luck, here's hoping for no red lights :dl:

doing this sick before even starting totally blows. But were on.

217.4 PM last night
214.4 this morning
207.6 right now.

i feel like a million bucks right now compared to the nearly delerious yesterday. I've got that stomach bug cleared out. That made yesterday insanely tough menatally and physcially.

had scale breaking at 204lbs last night before bed. got 3 hours this morning to cut the rest.

How are you cutting all this weight so fast?

**** this is insane...tyring to get the meet setup and everybody logged in and the million details all taken care of since I'm trying to compete as well...and doing a major cut and recomp in the middle of it.

MY BRAIN IS FRIED!!!!!

Anyway...I made it. Back up 15lbs so far.

Back at it today. Just some light stuff this week. Joined a commercial fitness joke so that I could get my light work in on my lunch break at work. I will have a couple 30min sessions there a week and two heavy days at home along with a GPP/Core/team building Saturday workout.

man, you are ridiculously strong. Keep up the good work.

i wasn't sure if you were still around...good to hear from you!

Here and there. I've been back in the gym consistently for over two months now. Never stopped, just got real inconsistent. I've been doing a lot of cardio, which is completely new to me. I'm really just trying to maintain strength and size and get cut for the warm weather. I have a little bit of extra help too!:fing02:

Weighed 208lbs this morning with my waist at its widest point being 33.75”. That’s over 8” off my waist from where I was this time last year.

Damn the commercial gym is so depressing. Another 30min lunch session.

dude your a true powerlifter and have stayed with it though all these years. Props to you.

just like it says in my sig. vision, consistency, hardwork. thats what it takes so thats what you gotta do.

had some work done last week and then again yesterday trying to reset my clavical. its slipped sometime in the last year and I have not started to deal with it. If you check my log back in early 07 i pulled it away from my chest in a snowboarding accident tearing tendons and ligamanets. when it slips i seem to have some reduced pressing power. hopefully i can get it back in place after leaving it out for such a long period.

also did some trigger point on my left glute which is all tweaked out for some reason.

My back is still bothering me. Didn’t know till it came to do squats. I can feel it when standing with the weight on my back, as soon as I’m squatting the pain disappears. The ones with no belt I could definitely tell. Based on the fact that it is still there, and the way it hurts, and conversations with my doctor…It is likely that I have a disc bulging. I don’t think it should be an issue, just need to continue with the chiropractic and ART therapy which can help these situations, and make sure I keep strict form and don’t do movements that can jephordize it.

Still amazed every time I walk into my gym now…it’s a gym!!! Still lots of little things to do with cleanup, bolting equipment down to floor, ect…but I’m so happy!!!

Made up some 36" and 48" loadable Maces before heading home tonight. Knurled up the handles as well. Also unloaded the 100' of 1.5" dia rope I bought yesterday.

tommorrow is going to be fun!!!

Had a large team over on Saturday for my Birthday. We setup a number of alternative conditioning methods so that we could determine effectiveness. Everyone was pretty beat down after 2-3hours of this activity. Then BBQ and lots of drinking (well at least for me). It was ONE HELL OF A FUN DAY!!! Some of my non lifting friends even jumped into some of the events. We never got around to compiling a final score for the day but pretty sure I took it easily :)

Rope 1.5”dia rope with one 50’ section in both hands. Tied off the end to a large tire and started oscillating it in upward and downward waves using your whole body. Total time able to keep waves going.

Rope with one 50’ section in both hands. Total time able to keep waves going.

Mace swings. Done with a 36” and 48” mace with a number of different weights.

Sledgehammer strikes to rubber tire. Number of strikes in 40 second intervals (20sec left, 20sec right)

Turkish getups with sandbag. Used approx 70-100lb sandbag. Had another 140lb bag that we never touched. Can’t remember if we did number of getups for a given time or the other way around.

Pulling a 44” mud tire and rim with rope hand over hand for time.

Pulling a 44” mud tire and teenager sitting in it, hand over hand for distance.

Sled pulling

Some swings with the Indian clubs.

Tossing a 40lb sandbag for distance…ok this was just for fun.

Can’t remember if we did anything else.

Overall Review.

Well, sled pulling still ranks very highly in my book. It is a simple classic that challenges the system in a number of different ways, and is easy to setup. I won’t do much as I have done writups about various sled pulling programs on numerous boards. However I was flat out surprised at the impact of the rope in comparison.

Oscillating the rope was just like doing HIIT Sled work where you’re barely able to finish a hard 45sec burst and want to puke. Whet awesome is that it hits more upper body, abs, and even seemed to loosen up my back which was bothering me this week. Most people really noted it was tough on there abs which I did not (but I’m not a good person to review that as I do standing WOD training as it is). Between using the sled and rope one should be able to develop some awesome conditioning and really hit all the muscular systems in the body. This will be my focus on conditioning days for awhile. I’m also really excited to get this setup so that I can do HIIT sessions rotating the intervals between Sled forward/backward and Rope. Should just be sickly had. Might not be for time…but for how deep the puke bucket gets :)

Next up for review was the sledgehammer. I was really excited by what I had read with this training but it really didn’t compare to the rope training. Its positives was that it was much harder on the forearms and will certainly have a great impact on grip strength. It will certainly help with imbalances in muscular coordination. Lastly it can be hard to avoid as I have the tire and sledge right out the door to the training room. I think this will be good to add as a 4-5min session at the end of some training sessions especially as it has a couple other benefits outside the rope and sled.

Maces and clubs. I didn’t find these of any value in regards to conditioning in comparison to the tools already discussed. However next to the rope the Mace was simply my next favorite toy of the day….well it could be my favorite. I just LOVED the way it hit and brutalized my shoulders. This is going to be an integral part of my shoulder development program. Nothing about it. I wanted to go do some more last night. Did I mention I loved the Maces!!! Conditioning however….bah. don’t waste your time…buy a rope.

Turkish Getups with sandbags. Definitely a good conditioning tool but again not comparable to methods noted so far. However I could certainly feel that this is a great tool for functional strength development and core work with decent conditioning results at the same time. I will be integrating these on my 1 day a week focused on these goals.

Never got around to making or purchasing some kettlebells to test for this day. And after what I discovered with a couple of these tools we used it won’t be a priority as I have some sick plans worked up with what I have.

Were taking this training to a whole new level this training cycle. Admittedly I won’t be pushing bigger numbers in the next 6 weeks as the team focuses on bringing conditioning levels up.

Was busy between each set installing large hooks in wall to hold chains, implements, ect.

Overhead lockouts w/75lbs in chain (approx 30-40lbs deloading)
130x8
220x5
270x5
310x5
360x5
310x8

Couple sets with the Mace

Dumbbell Floor Press – w/band wrapped under body into hands
80+#2 band x8
80+#3 band x8
100+#3 band x8x8x8
Damn! My shoulders were screaming by this time.

Rolling BB extensions
125x8x8x8

Lying Band Supra Lockouts
#3x8x8

10lb Sledge swings alternating with one training partner (approx 30 on/30 off)
6min

Tweaked my neck later on while moving a heavy sandbag into gym that had been sitting outside because everyone was afraid of moving it…with good reason. It was freakin hard. Brought a band with me to work today so I can do some band traction at lunch and hopefully pull it out.

Can you get some videos of you using the mace?

at some point. little in way of time right now and cable for camera is needs replaced. but yes I can.
