The town I was training in is the major city about 1hr from where I went to High school at.

Some older guy walked up and started talking to me since a friend of his was a powerlifter. After awhile he said I looked familiar and I brought up the front page articles done on me when I was younger due to my extremely challenging upbringing.

Things you forget about till reminded.

Anyway back on track with 6 weeks till my upcoming meet. Only sidetrack will be a trip to austria for work for a week in the middle of that.

A nagging injury has come back in the last couple weeks and is really bothering me after last weeks bench session. It initially stated as a pec tear last year at the very inside where it ties to the rib cage. The issue developing now is either on my rib cage or deep in my pec. Pressing does not hurt but expanding or raising my rib cage does. So deep breathing is hurting, hanging (ie like a pull up), or just setting up on the bench. Its gotten real bad in the last couple days and can easily be felt in everyday activity or breathing deeply.

My ART guy did some work on t last year but it didn’t do much since it was so deep under my pec he couldn’t really get to it.

My plan going into this meet is to just do high board presses and not take any heavy weight to my chest with my shirt on (since this really compresses the rib cage) till the meet.

Did some work to try and stretch it out and get some blood flow to it yesterday morning.

actually feel somewhat decent today considering but finally getting into my ART guy at lunch today. Hopefully some relief on the way soon...although I'm more concerned with getting 100% by my august 22nd meet. I think I figured out how to setup so I can bench without pain next week.
 
Sorry to here about the injury, sounds like you have it under control though.

Last 3/4 workouts have all been bench is there a reason for that, especially w/injury?

Active Release therapy. A little bit of issues with my left pec insertions into the sternum but the majority of the problem appears to be my intercostals on the left side tying the rib cage together. He said the only real way to get at them was surgically since they are underneath the pec. We did some work on them and were able to get at them a little bit.

Seemed to help quite a bit.

222. Got a ways to cut to make 198 on the 22nd. I would like to be down to around 216-218 prior to my 24hr water cut.

My waist size has been staying pretty consistent despite my weight gain so that is positive!

its been 105 most every day this week. have not installed air or even ventelation in my training center yet. gets hot damn hot and muggy real fast with a bunch of guys all training hard and sweating in a small room.

Been feeling sick last couple days with a painfull sore throat, but meet is getting close so there is no excusses.

I actually sweated tonight for my workout. combo of excess water i'm drinking for my water cut, the 110+degree heat in the gym, wearing full gear, and being sick. I wasn't dripping but my shirt was a damp...very unusual for me to break a sweat. One of the various reasons my training partners use as proof i'm an alien. :)

Grip and strength issues. Actually felt harder for me as this is a weak area and I didn’t have the bar speed/momentum off the floor to get me through it.

Chest is doing well and ART is working. No where near 100% but making progress. Also pulled my serrates muscle on my back(not the ones in the front) did a little ART work on them and some band stretches…think this one will be a non issue in a couple days.

been in low 220's...

should be about 5lbs lighter within 2 weeks and ready for my drop to 198.

been having a tough time holding weight down lately with my ravenous appetite...but i have been putting on muscle.

8/22/09 I am hosting and competing in the Northwest Powerlifting Championships. Hope to crush some records in the 198lb class again!

Down to about 217 walking around right now. But I've been 212-214 upon waking the last couple days with how my body has been dumping weight with all the water and salt loading.

We load the equipment on the trailer Tuesday night and will move it and set it up Friday night. It is being held in a VERY Well-to-do suburb and has been gaining a lot of interest so it looks like it will be a big crowd of people unfamiliar with powerlifting. 30+ competitiors.

Think I have most everything lined out. Several last minute items being shipped in this week but looking pretty dialed for a sweet comp again!!!

i sure hope your not refering me to the 60year old in the pic above...thats one of the guys I train. Just steps away from being the strongest +60 year old in history (regardless of feds, rules, drug use(he's clean), OR BODYWEIGHT).

anyway thats not me.
