Well here’s a progress pick, at 186 lbs.

Been on a low carb diet, but have kept my caloric intake pretty high thanks to a whole lotta meat, peanut butter, coconut and pork rinds. Strangely, my weight is barely dropping, but I’ve shed some water and seem to be recomping. Would think my losses would be outstripping any muscle gains, but my weight is barely budging, though my clothes and weight belt fit better. Usually I drop 7-10 pounds in a few weeks. This time, I’ve lost around 2-3 pounds in 3 weeks.

May switch over to intermittent fasting because I do need to lose 5 more pounds, to fit better into my clothes and because I’d like to be a little leaner, as well as a little lighter on my feet, which are bothering me when I ski and hike.

man you got huge traps still.

I envy those of you that can do a low carb diet. I just simply can't. even when it's not intentional, I can tell when my carbs are too low. My brain turns to absolute mush, can't concentrate at work, get tired. headaches, my arms and chest feel flat and deflated. I have to have my higher carb intake, just makes cutting a bit of a bitch cause what's left to cut from the diet becomes fats and that can be difficult.

Thanks man — my shoulders have always been disproportionately large, dwarfing my chest and biceps.

I actually feel solid low carb, though it does make you flatter. And I can even perform cardio wise when on such a diet. My problem is that I’m still overeating highly caloric food. I’m fricking hungry.

Man you are looking solid!!

Thanks man. But I’m a little thick for my liking tbh. Then again, my ego likes strong more than svelte, lol. It’s a quandary wrapped in a conundrum, I’ll tell you!

Diet is always the hardest part for me. Diet, then cardio, but I could workout all day every day!

More veggies. You aren’t going to end up high carb pounding baby carrots and celery, but it will help fill the tank and keep you more regular to boot.

Another Saturday morning bargain. Going to pick this up, to go along with the other single one I bought for $60. This one is brand new too!

Quad feeling good on the pulls?

Feeling great, thanks for asking! Still feels like scar tissue (small focal point of pain) when I’m hiking uphill. Now it’s time to man-up and resume squatting after taking 8 months off!

Those are fun. My buddy has a set of those at his house I’ve played with frequently.

I’ve got 5-30 lbs separate pairs, now the adjustable for 35-50 lbs, 60lbs separate pair, and then adjustable Olympic dumbbells take me from 55 to 100 lbs. Hoping to pick up more separates bc I hate the Olympic dumbbells. The 20” ones are just too long and a bitch to rest on your legs.

Sounds like a pretty good set up!

How often do you use the loadable Olympic dumbbells?

How often do you use the loadable Olympic dumbbells?

Not as often as I should, like once per month. Need to start doing more dumbbell work for chest.

Seated Overhead Press
Warmups
125x5
145x5
165x6

Lateral Raises
3x8

Quick and dirty.

Powerhousing

solid pressing man, 165 x 6 is some weight. have you broke 200lbs on an overhead?

Thanks man. Haven’t gotten over 195 lbs since this comeback. Used to be able to do about 200 lbs standing. But sitting is def easier. Should hit 200 lbs in next month. I’m gonna need to in order to keep up with my progressions!

Just picked up a 210 lbs set of Wright crumb rubber bumpers, barely used, for $120!!! I don’t even need them but I couldn’t resist at that price.

Where you finding all these black market deals?!!?!!?

Facebook Marketplace. Prices are really depressed locally bc of supply glut and I find people on this venue price things below market so they end up really cheap. But you need to be a vulture to get the best prices!

Weight: 184 lbs

Angled Multi-grip Bar Bench
Warmups
185x3
210x3

Feeling pretty strong. Think I’m good for 280 lbs on this bar, and I’m guessing ~290 lbs on a regular barbell. Would like to hit 315 on the regular barbell by end of year. Seems reasonable.

3x4-10

Skull-crushers
3x8-12

Triceps Rope Pushdowns
3x10-15

Wife hit 4x230 lbs on hex bar DL today. Not bad at 45, 119 lbs. She’s been training the movement for a year now.

175x4 (comeback rep PR)

Think I’m about ready for 200 lbs with a spotter. Time to train the wife how to spot!

Lateral Raises
3x8

As way of background, I tore the fascia In my left quad last year, 8 months ago. I tried to return to squatting a couple times over the first couple months post injury, but the pain was ridiculous. Some fear combined with a new demanding job resulted in me putting this off for a lot longer than I should have. I suspect I still will need to work through scar tissue as the quad still bothers me on hard climbs.

At any rate, the first session is in the books. Just a quick 6 AM workout before work.

Rear Squats
45x10
95x5
115x5
135x5
155x5
185x5

No pain, it all felt good.

Glad to see you getting back under the bar! Just keep it very light and work some more reps/sets for now. Let everything adapt.

do you wear knee sleeves? I started with 5mm then later went to the thicker 7mm rehbands. they have lasted me for years. I find that when I try to squat without them I get that weird soreness in my quads. mostly areas AROUND my knees but not my actual knees. I can deadlift without them, but won't squat without them.

I do have them, thanks, per your urging in fact, but didn’t use them this last time. Mine aren’t very thick, not sure of width. They are $20 cheapies from Amazon. I’ll reintroduce them if I started getting pain around the knee.

Feel like the dedicated DL work kept my legs reasonably strong, to my surprise. I’ll know more after the second squat session.

Thanks buddy.

Wow, that injury sounds unpleasant. What was rehab for that like?

I never really did any, other than discontinuing squatting and some limping, lol. But it sure as hell hurt when it happened and then the several times I triggered it trying to reintroduce squats.

yeah back in the day I had some rocktape sleeves that were probably $30-50 or something for the pair. mostly cause they were the 'name' at the time, got them at the xfit games etc. the 5mm ones I wore a hole through them doing normal xfit stuff. burpees etc, but I used them a LOT. they would roll down my leg and I was constantly fiddling with them.

When I upgraded to the rehbands I never had an issue again, I think I've had those now for at least 7 years. thick 7mm material, I've washed them a handful of times but they don't slide down and do a lot for my knees and quads.

Thanks man. You’re the one that recommended them to me before I got mine. I think mine are 7mm. They are reasonably thick actually and as tight as, well I’ll let you complete the thought.
