Jimothy's Back (and worse than ever)

Was going to try to knock out tomorrow’s upper session tonight since I expect tomorrow to be a bit of a cluster ****, but had my night blow up with a deal that is trying to sign overnight, so will have to try to squeeze it in tomorrow.

Might try getting up early, but I’ve been having a hard time sleeping at night the last few weeks, so that may not happen.

Yeah, agree with both you and Hyde. Not going to go crazy, but no pain or anything today either, so think I am close (or, at minimum, didn’t **** it up more yesterday).
I bet you wish you had your old Ex-wife or whatever those heavy ass metal cylinders were called you did tempering on me with.

Just do what you can my man. There is a reason you are doing this as a lifestyle coaching situation. You came into it knowing you wouldn't be able to truly dedicate yourself with your current workload. Best effort is more than good enough in your situation!

Deal didn’t sign last night, so ended up on standby until 2:30am for nothing. Have a deal closing in the morning, so likely won’t make it in tonight, but should be able to get something in tomorrow.

Decent session. Thought it best not to push the hamstring too hard, so only did the “warmup” sets for RDLs. Will see how she feels tomorrow.

Crazy that I got rid of that ex-wife and traded it in for a different one since those days.
Seems that you would have been better off if you kept the one made off metal! :)

Pretty successful session with progressive overload. Weight hovering between 193-195 these days.

Got 15 minutes of walking on the treadmill (no incline), but seemed like the hamstring was unhappy with that. Might try the elliptical tomorrow, but will mean I have to split the cardio from the lifting session.

Woke up early enough to knock legs out before work. Was fasted though and did a poor job picking load for the adductors (gym just got the machine in last week).

No cardio, but might hit the elliptical around lunch.

specifically training adductors on a machine rather than as a biproduct of lunges, bulgarians, ands squats is a new venture for me in 2024 (for the most part, I mean it's not completely virgin territory) but I have started crazy light. like 50-70lbs for as many reps as it took for it to feel right. I've been widening the brackets too. These girls yesterday were watching me do it and they go damn that's wide! LOL. I said please don't make eye contact with me while I'm on this machine.

Pushed some weight today. Work has slowed down, so I’ve been sleeping better and feeling better and it shows.

Weight is up to 195.7 for this week’s check-in. Have been using a local meal prep company which has made it much easier to stay on plan and coach is happy with the progress the last few weeks.

Looking good, you have put on a lot of size with very limited fat gain.

Yeah, coach was happy with the way we have been maintaining condition even with a near 25lb weight increase.

Went ahead and did tomorrows session today thinking maybe the gym would be closed tomorrow, but they’re gonna be open, so expecting to do legs tomorrow and rest Tuesday.

It is always nice to get the positive feedback there isn't it!

Thought the same thing, lots of scale weight while maintaining the abs showing. Like 15% bodyweight gain.

One of these days I may actually even be big and strong instead of surprisingly strong for how I look

I just don’t have an easy time building the “show” muscles.

Well, you’d probably need to start doing more than you currently do in training overall, but I’m not sure you can devote that much more time or energy to training by the sound of it right now. So either more volume or more frequently in the gym to hit more odds and ends, but that stuff also has greatly diminishing returns.

Yeah, you may need to toss in some intensifiers to push things along if you can't devote the time to put in a lot more volume. Some rest pause sets could be an easy way to add volume of hard reps quickly if you need something to push with and don't have the time for a lot longer or more frequent sessions. Of course talk to Pat, he knows what he is doing and may be willing to toss a little more at you now that consistency has been established.

No cardio. Heading back to my cave to try to finish some outstanding work. Think I’m gonna be up all night and then try to slip out of the office early tomorrow.

I will take no mention of the hammy as a good sign! Congrats on it not being worth mentioning at this point!

Yeah, no issues even with a bit higher intensity and no lingering pain or tightness after. Good sign.

Was able to push weight/reps on most everything today. Successful session.

That is great on all accounts. How is your bloodwork holding up?

Given your lifestyle, good for you to find a good solution like that. I have looked at them a number of times but never found one I was very happy with. My brother did one a while back that I think was all paleo but the price he paid per meal was what I pay for like an entire day when my wife and I do food prep. Still, given your lifestyle there has to be some give and take and it seems like this is a great solution for you. You're already paying for a coach, putting in the time, if this helps you take the meter to 100% then absolutely do it.

All he’s gotta do now is find someone to pay to train in place of him and he’ll have the trifecta of outsourcing

I will take that job. I can guarantee results. my results that is. ;)

Yeah not sure with the lifestyle guys but he had me test every 8 weeks except during prep because well, we knew we were heading into dark waters. We didn't need to be told their were sharks in it. It was a given. You have been running a lower dose though so he might not be on the same schedule since not pushing the gear that hard. As you know he is big on calories. By the way curious, what are current calories and macros like?

Have been locked out of AM this week (app was being buggy) and now I’m locked out of my account from trying to log in too many times.

So I guess this is my new one now.

We’re up to 3547 (from 3037 Calories)
366g Carb, 272g Protein, 110.5g Fat.

Think the plan is to hold here for a few weeks and let things solidify and then adjust from there. He may want to do a mini-cut type of situation or to increase again. Not real sure what direction he’s leaning.

Nice, yeah he doesn't really give too many forward plans. He makes all his plans based on what he sees happening as it happens. I am sure he has a loosely formed plan but just doesn't share in case he has to pivot and we aren't like but I thought we were doing this...

Yeah, think it just depends on how fat I am on any given check-in day.

Have been able to do cardio most of this week, but none today because I have to run back to my desk and put some documents together that are signing overnight.

Updated training plan for the next 8-12 weeks. This one is more arm-focused to build some cannons. Basically, because of the limitations for training time, the process here is to do focused training cycles that rotate which muscles we’re emphasizing. Last rotation was shoulders and traps, this one is guns.

Hopefully we get to chesticles soon, because mine could use the work

Jimbabwe lol, new name is cracking me up

I was going to ask about that, it was the number one thing from your last session that struck me as odd because you touched on it, but not very much volume there with just the unilateral press.

Last cycle had a bit more work for it with something like 3 exercises a week, but this will be just the one on the Arsenal Incline. Which is enough to maintain with high intensity (this week is like an acclimation week to nail the movements, tempo and base weights to start with for progressive overload tracking).

Nice, building the show muscles up. Did you tell him you wanted to focus on chest more?

Was gonna wait and see how this one goes before I start pushing for anything in particular. We did a lot of chest work the first few months and the last couple, so I’m just trusting the vision here.

It is worth mentioning that this upper/lower thing we’re doing rotates between three sessions that take a week and a half to get through. Mondays session (which I’m having to do tomorrow for personal reasons) has a bit of focused chest work as well as the second upper session having the incline work, so it isn’t as though we’ve completely abandoned any direct work there even for this arm focused run.

No cardio today. Legs tomorrow. Off all week from work, so I’ve been sleeping a ton. Gonna be very hard to go back to work Monday morning.

Not a fan of this app update. Gonna make me start typing the workouts out. Will likely only write up the work sets to save some time.

Check-in photos at a cool 195. Was ~198 last week, so hovering in the mid-190s right now.

Can y’all see them? On my screen it doesn’t show the images unless I download them, which seems like a ton of work for anyone trying to just follow along here.
I can see yest and wed w/out dl-ing. The rest seem redacted
I’m mid workout right now and am gonna screenshot once I’m done. Hopefully it sticks

Cool, that’s super helpful. Glad I don’t have to type it out because that would make my updates much more sporadic.

Finishing up legs right now, and will share that update shortly. No cardio today because I’m running late for a date I have this afternoon.
