Jackellpets 'Running the USPLabs Rack' Log

Update:

I have strained the tendons in my left forearm to the point I can't pick my nose without pain.

Have a physio's appointment tommorrow - will be taking the week, if not two weeks off training.

Will be dropping out all supplements except SuperCissusRX and Poseidon.

Bummed out, but it's my own stupid fault.

Sorry to hear that. My lower back always seems to give me trouble everytime I start a new log, preventing me from performing dead lifts or barbell rows (back staples). I actually had a rehab log with 3-AD/Mass FX because on the first day of my cycle, my lumbar gave out in a serious way, but I'd already began the cycle, so I said screw it, Rehab Log  All this to say, I know your pain.

Honestly though, because we workout, we are accustomed to experiencing our bodies on an elite level, and I don't mean that in an arrogant manner, but we experience our bodies in a strength, stamina, power and endurance manner all the time, which is more then the average person, so I call that experiencing our bodies on an elite level. Nothing puts that in check like a debilitating injury. I don't mean to sound like a guest motivational speaker on optimism, but a two week set back still makes you more priviledged then most (you could be missing an arm or a leg). When I JACKED my lumbar and couldn't walk for 3 days, I honestly realized how lucky I am to just be able to walk and this temporary set back is something I'm guaranteed to bounce back from, nothing permanent.

I think I had to force myself to think this way because I can get obsessive compulsive about lifting sometimes and forcing some perspective down my throat helped me to deal with debilitating injuries.

Stay up bud

I just cooked some roo fillets. I cooked them rare, as my pa suggested and I couldn't eat them. Got maybe 150-200 grams down and decided to call it a day. The meat was really nice and tender, basically fell apart as I was eating it, but I couldn't stand the strong taste of the meat. It has a pungent smell to it when cooked too that just didn't sit too well with me.

As if you read my mind Volcom, what forced the perspective down my throat is a downhill bike crash that left me staring in my knee cap through "minced meat", my reaction to that was, "Oh well, I guess I've done it now, there are worse things than not being able to lift for a week!!! Talk about being compulsive, the doctors told me I'd probably be able to get back on the bike in 7 weeks doing nothing extreme. Well in 5 weeks I was riding a gruelling climb up the same hill that put me in the surgery unit and two months after that I won a 50km mountain bike race. I hated every minute in the hospital, I was there for 5 days. I don't regret it though, now, whenever I have a minor injury I always remember the "hospital time". It kills instantly any desire to :rant:

Did you marinate them? It goes a long way to masking the taste. As does a ridiculously potent garlic and mushroom sauce.

Yeah, they were marinated when I bought them so they'd been sitting in it for a couple of days. Ah well, I gave it a go :)

Awww man. Sorry to hear it, bro. Rest up, and feel better. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Wish you a quick recovery. A forearm injury will require some willpower to heal (you have to quit using the da*ned thing for weeks... that's harder than it sounds).

I'm willing to bet you'll be recovered in time for Prime to arrive, hehe.

EDIT: And f**k, Shaddow. Your cuts are living up to your name, that's some crazy lean sh*t.

Sorry about the injury and not being in this log much...its first week back on campus and i been fighting to get internet :aargh:

Heal up quick! :)

***Updated Update*****

Forearms better than I thought – physio said it was a pinched nerve, rather than a tear. Something to do with the sheathing of the nerve?

He called it ‘de Quervains’ – some sort of tenosynovitis. Basically I need to strap up my wrists and forearms.

Got another physio appointment today - should be able to do at least a leg workout tommorrow.

The other thing that's popped up is some work over in Zambia, Africa for 3 months FIFO Australia. The money is too good to turn down.

Aside from avoiding malaria, I'm hoping like hell there's a gym in the hotel I'll be staying in. At the very least I'll be doing body weight exercises and cardio - diet may be the hard part.

Might be making ***Special Reports*** from Africa!

Wow you went all the way with that stuff eh! Here's hoping it's decent stuff! I got a modest 2.... :P

1) All USPLabs products to date have worked incredibly well for me

2)When I order from the US it's far more cost effective to order in bulk

3) We will never see those prices again

4) Im a sucker for a free gift!

Yeah I agree, the bets part was the shipping stayed the same no matter how many you ordered. If my credit card was healthier I would have ordered more, but I placed a large order from NP the day before...

DeQuervain's syndrome - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Just curious. Are there any particular movements or exercises that are aggravating.

I have tenderness (well, more like pain) in both biceps but have narrowed down the culprit. My pull strength has been increasing at an alarming rate. On shoulder/delt work I do a wide grip high row wide with the Invalid Link Removed

Because I keep my elbows high and wide it has my forearms and brachioradialis at a very vulnerable posture. I have begun to use straps and it seems to have relieved the direct acute aggravation.

Good luck with the recovery.

Barbell curls are the worst. DB not as bad. Get some aggrevation with Skull crushers too.Upright rows aren't much fun either - it's not so much doing the exercise, it's when I let go of the bar.

Thanks for the good wishes.

I would have gone the half doz if I wasn't worried about the 3 month rule

that 3 month rule stinks man, good old nz, bring in all the supps you want, lol

that prime deal is mighty tempting, i don't think i can resist

I have had that EXACT issue before. The pain is an intense throb that shoots up your forearms to the elbow. It subsides quickly but comes back as soon as you complete another set. I just stopped doing curls for a while and *knocks on wood* haven't had the issue again. It was approximately 6 months ago I had the problem.

Sounds like the same problem - also got pain shooting through to the outside of the hands too.

What did you swap out curls for Cub?

Me to! it sucks, had it for a quite a while when i was 18 -19 and it definitely hurts more once you let go of the bar. BB curls became impossible. IT went away over time. To this day i still stretch my forearms in between every set of every exercise i do.

a good physio, icing then a combo of voltaren gel and deep heat is helping a bucket load. Been stretching too.

BB curls are mass gainers - what to substitute for them?

Im already massive:twisted: jk.

DB curls didnt hurt anywhere near as much, incline curls. Still plenty of options. I got a mate who plays league and the guys arms are huge and he never ever trains them. Only the big compound lifts and cleans etc. They do get hit indirectly quite a lot anyway.

I hearing ya. Thanks AM.

31st August 2008: Final Report

With some physio, rest and plenty of deep heat/voltarin, (and SuperCissusRx?) the forearms are improving.

As mentioned previously, the injury, coupled with an upcoming 3 month post to Africa have effectively placed a halt to this log and my current training regime.

Although the timeframe was brief, there are conclusions to draw from the progress to date:

1. Significant gains in strength can be achieved during a fasted workout using a combination of USPLabs products built around Anabolic Pump – ReCreate – PowerFull (P-Slin optional, but highly recommended)

However I will note that users of Anabolic Pump should be experienced with the product to avoid potential hypoglycaemia issues.

2. My calorie expenditure readings indicate this stack sends the metabolism through the roof. On a bulk be prepared to eat more than initially appears intuitive.

In agreement with B5150: the fasted state, combined with the workout intensity places additional strain on the CNS, hence the bodies requirement for additional calories and rest.

3. Fat loss has been achieved, not at the expensive of gains. The scales indicate a modest 2kg (~4lb) in four weeks. What the fat loss:muscle gain ratio during that period is unquantifiable, visually I noticed my extremities starting to ‘sharpen’ (face, hands, forearms). Basically I felt as though I was just starting to hit my stride with this regime.

I believe an 8 week run would certainly produce significant recomp-like effects. 12 weeks would be optimal.

4. 24hr hydration plays a key role with this type of regime to maintain a state of anabolism – product like Poseidon supported with additional BCAAs is indispensable.

5. A good stim has been usefull for kick-starting the body into top-gear in the early AM. As mentioned on other threads, my modus operandum was to drop 4x Zap an hour before workout with some Poseidon/Swell.

Would like to thank all that supported my first attempt at ‘logging’, and especially those that provided invaluable advice along the way.

Note: this has been a non-sponsored log.

Another Note: keep an eye out for a Special Foreign Correspondant's Photo Journal on Zambian Muscle :head:

Cheers,

Jakellpet

Thanks for the log bro, sorry it had to end early, as I am with mine.

followed in your foot steps and summed my log up as well, might as well end it as it's getting messy and loosing it intended focus.

Ah well, better luck on the next log.
sussudio!

Mr. Jackellpets sir,

This log has been such a great contribution to AM and has helped a lot of people by showing us an unbiased opinion of products that are often highly scrutinized.

I really enjoyed your insight on our products as well as the others you used. Best of luck with all of your progress (which has been exceptional) as well as your new assignment in Zambia. Nurse the injury and you will come back stronger than ever, we will be waiting.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to jakellpet again.

it's a shame it had to end bro

excellent log, i must say that the most thorough logs i've seen lately have been from nz'ers

how did you find the zap? did it live up to it's namesake?

cheers and when do you leave cause i can babysit your 6 bottles of prime for you bro :stick:

this is the biggest waste of money ive ever seen, i hope u get no results for ur stupidity...

thanks Speed321, or should I call you Boxmeman? Coming from the you, the most dishonest, thieving little **** on Anabolic Minds means a lot to me.

I plan to use your little post as my signature.

I went through this exact pain, missed 3 weeks of preacher curls and it seemed to get some what better.
