nah. not a huge fan of them. i do enjoy them from time to time tho.

seattle is awesome tho. its a big city with a more intimate feel to it. and the weather, well i thought it was perfect. and i love gloomy weather in the winter, and cool breezy sunny days in the summer, and thats EXACTLY what seattle has. and its not dark until like 930 or 10.
 
How do you guys dose ZMA. It seems nearly impossible for me to take it correctly. I can't have it with food. I can't have it with calcium. I have to take it within 60mins from when I go to sleep.

Am I able to take it an hour before I drink my casein shake before bed? Will the calcium from the shake still affect the ZMA after it's been digested?

I remember now why I quit buying this stuff.

What I have gathered is that the problem with taking ZMA with calcium is that the zinc and calcium will compete for absorption with the magnesium, and you pretty much render the ZMA formula useless. It kinda screws me up too. I like to cram in one last meal before I go to sleep which is usually ground beef & cheese or ground beef & spinach, but I gotta take my ZMA too, so what do I do? Stay up late every night. :hammer:
 
Shadow is totally right on why ZMA does not work with calcium. I wouldn't take it an hour pre shake personally as it kind of defeats the purpose still.

What you want to do with minerals like zinc and magnesium are restore the depleted areas in your body from your insane workouts earlier in the day. Even if the ZMA is digested when you have your shake, you are still drawing away from it with the calcium from the shake because calcium feeds on magnesium and zinc to get absorbed into your body...which would deplete your stores again.

I have forfeited any late calcium or food in general for my zmk/somnidren gh...and i've seen better results this way than with a shake near bedtime. Everyone is different though I suppose.

I would have an extremely hard time getting used to not eating after 7pm just so I could take some ZMA.

It's tempting. I'd love to try some Somnidren-GH and skip the shake, but I'd have to give it a go for at least 6 weeks to see how it affects me...Perhaps a log in the making?...

Okay, so I just finished taking a dump and within the process I devised a plan...

I normally have three shakes a day. Two whey shakes, and one casein shake before bed. What I can do is have my dinner meal around 5pm (when I normally have my second whey shake), and then around 7:30pm I can double up on a whey/casein shake. 4hrs later, take my ZMA, hit the sack a half-hour after that. How does that sound?
 
Even further improvement on my ZMA-Diet Plan!...

Sip on 15g of L-Leucine between my last shake and taking my ZMA.

That will mean I'll be getting in 35-40g of free-form Leucine daily.

I actually take my zmk/somnidren with some purple wraath some nights. I figure I win on both sides because I am not taking in calcium and at the same time i'm still getting some protein before bed.

So I tried the diet change yesterday. Honestly, I didn't care for it at all. I was hungry by the time I went to bed, and I woke up in the morning with some nasty stomach pains.

I decided instead of taking out the ground beef meal, I'm just going to add some of the ground beef to my dinner meal. So instead of just the chicken, I'll be having beef as well.

I'm still real sore from Friday. I may try to get in to the gym to do cardio today, but my hams are killing me.
 
By the way, I'm UBER sore today. I'd call it DOMS, but it's really not delayed at all.

Then you had SOMS, Sudden Onset Muscle Soreness, which often times may lead to POMS, Prolonged Onset Muscle Soreness.

I'm pretty sure I just made those up.

Well, I'm bored as hell. Nothing is on TV. It's still too early to go to Wal Mart; the place will be packed. I was going to take today to rest up for tomorrow's big lifts, but what the heck? I'm going to go hit some cardio, and abs if I'm feeling jaunty.

I think I saw a preview for it. I'll have to check it out. I've still been meaning to see Burn After Reading but haven't got around to it. I really have to be feeling useless to go to the movies. Maybe I'll do a double-feature after my workout on Wednesday morning.

I feel ya, I really want to do some snatches today. My back was sore as hell this morning from yesterdays cleans, but the soreness has left..... wait for it.... wait for it, I just experienced TOMS, Temporary Onset Muscle Soreness. Shaboinga!

For sure. I haven't been doing regular deads at all recently, but I'd like to fit them in somewhere. Maybe I can do them every other week or something. Doing both SLDL and Sumo Deads (the style I use) in a single workout rotation is overkill. I've done that before.

I don't really know of any other big lifts for hams that I can do in place of SLDLs though. If I did, I'd switch it out and start doing regular deads.
 
Day 4

Had a decent cardio day today. Only did 45mins. 30mins on the stairstepper and 15mins on the bike. I basically just went in out of boredom. Nothing to really report. I took my BG in the morning, so I didn't notice any sudden effects during my workout, but I'm sure I'll be feeling some fluid joint movement soon from the cissus.

Pulled my right ham a little when I was sweeping the kitchen floor. I don't really think it's anything serious, just a little tender. I'll do some stretching before I go to bed. They haven't been this sore in a real long time. I'll probably have to take it a little easy when I hit them again on Wednesday.

Awesome SDLD work Irish, however, next time around, have a side-view video taken so people that are sooo bloody anal about form (such as myself :p), and can't see whether your back is perfectly straight or not, have nothing to complain about :stick: :)

I agree that a side view would be better for that vid, but good job regardless! :)

Day 5

Okay, so today sucked. I woke up with what I am pretty sure is a sinus infection. It must be the AM Virus that's going around since it seems like everyone on here is getting sick.

I don't know if all of you have experienced it before, but working out with a completely clogged head and congested chest sucks pretty bad. My endurance was horrible, and my lifts were pretty bad too. My squats suffered majorly; however, that was mainly due to my sore hamstrings. My quads were begging to be worked harder, but the hams weren't having it. I was only getting up 315x4 on squats, when I normally can hit 375x4. So, I compensated by supersetting squats with alternating single leg press. Gave my quads a good burn during my low-rep squat workout.

Shoulder press was actually pretty good. On par with what I was getting before I took my break.

Weighted CG Pullups were down about a rep.

Shrugs were on par.

My breathing was heavy and uncontrolled. I had a real hard time getting through the workout today. My head is still extremely clogged.
 
About to go hit cardio in an hour. My first class was cancelled, so it has been a very enjoyable, lazy morning. Just sitting around drinking coffee and listening to some mellow music.

I'm going to take my BG in half an hour. That will be the first time I've dosed on an empty stomach. I'll update how my workout was afterwords. I feel a little better today, but I'm still real clogged in the head. Hopefully my endurance won't suffer.
 
Day 6

Endurance SKYROCKETED today! It was great. Even with a stuffy head I had a great cardio session.

20 mins: Stairstepper
20 mins: Treadmill (had to trim incline down to 13%, hams were getting too much of a pull at 15%)
20 mins: Spin bike

I'll definitely be taking Blue Gene on an empty stomach from now on. There was definitely a noticeable difference.

Here's some pics I just took. Six days into Blue Gene run. First one is relaxed, second I'm tightened.

A few diet updates:

1. I cut milk.
2. I no longer have post-workout carbs on cardio days
3. My ground beef meal is now mashed together with my grilled chicken meal.
 
It was my 2nd most noticable...directly behind the desire to sleep with every woman in the country.

Thats exactly what it feels like to me. My freshman year of high school where not only were the girls my age attractive, but so were the ones the next 3 years up and in between, and now some of the milf teachers were attractive to me too.

I mean...Blue Gene has me straight up staring at everything.
