Hyde’s Strength Odyssey

Once I make it through this pack I’ll look for those you mentioned. Yeah it’s definitely a once a week treat for a refeed for me. It was spicier than I thought it would be. I cant imagine how spicy the others are.
I feel Rose is slightly less spicy than Carbonara, and way better.

Extra Creamy Carbonara is the least spicy, and also delicious.

A lot of stores sell only a few types at a time, so you might need to Google what in your area has what if you’re looking for a particular one.

I found the ones I got at Target. I’ll check my local grocery stores to see if they carry them

40 reps at 265+, 71 at 221+ - blasted.

Pinned another 200mg mast e this morning, plus took 75mg Var and 10mg Trest Ace from an old nearly empty vial preWO. I don’t know if it made me any stronger, but it gave me some solid heartburn 😭 Only took 2iu GH instead of 4 to help offset water retention; hopefully 2 will be high enough for the run.

Holy bench o mania!

For real, 40 reps at 265+ is a lot of bench tonnage.💪
I just calculated everything 221+ and it’s about 19,000lbs.

The first time I pushed my bench to 390lbs, I used a similar method, inspired from JM Blakley. In a nutshell, pound sand on heavy bench every week until you have no choice but to get better at it 😝 There’s a lot more nuance to his work than that, but the gist here is specificity reigns & I’m 5 weeks from the platform.

Going to experiment with a mid-week carb spike this afternoon. DiPasquale talks about it in the Anabolic Diet, among many diet tweak variations to help dial things for individual goals & response. Since my lower body training is critical to mission success, makes sense to try it here.

He says up to 1,000 calories within the acute meal doesn’t seem to shift the body out of a fat-burning state (similar to if you’ve read the Carb Nite principle). Obviously calories overall still matter for net energy balance, so yesterday and today just did 8oz salmon/day instead of a pound, replacing with lean protein.

This is probably going to be a pack of Buldak noodles with a couple pieces of thin-sliced seed & grain toast for about 100g carbs & 700 calories ahead of training. Plus a piece of tilapia to make a fish sandwich.

yes I imagine there is. its been a long time since I paid attention to my tonnage moved but since I started seeing it in your log it got me thinking. I was like, I bet I could move 50,000lbs if I just hit 135lb bench 370 times.

But I feel like this gets into the specifity and a lot of what my skills were in the xfit days. I don't feel like 370 reps at 135lbs is going to get me a 320 bench. its going to make me really good at 135 for 300+ rep days

that said, I still kinda want to do it lol.

Tonnage without specificity is useless.

Anyone can appreciate that lifting 1,000lbs for a single =/= 1lb lifted 1,000 times.

So raising tonnage within useful intensities that can cause an adaptation is imperative. Plus, it’s going to be specific to the movement; curls, benchpresses and reverse hyper reps are entirely separate things of course.

bros' competing at 198 in like 5 weeks and will put up the same numbers zero doubt.
God willing, I’m going to do my best to try!

Didn’t realize it at the time, but I don’t believe I’ve ever pulled such a heavy triple (from the floor or blocks). Not that I couldn’t, but just that it’s never happened. This was big to help condition my pull to heavy weight, my grip, my lockout strength.

Had the ramen, toast, & fish as my preWO meal as planned, which didn’t hurt anything - not sure if it did make any difference though. I was absolutely blasted after getting through frontsquats. Took 100mg test c this morning, and 50mg tren base an hour preWO. Haven’t had that in years, but finally got ahold of some & it hits just like I remember - really helps dig down to that primal fragment of the soul.

Excellent session! Look at that V-Taper! I am sure you are not used to seeing that. I bet you are looking pretty damn lean right about now too. Way to keep grinding and going after your goal!!! You are going to crush this meet! I can feel it in my bones!

Lats felt very strong this morning, and I think I need to keep upper back work on this day. The squat & pull days are becoming so intense there isn’t energy leftover. I found just by going in earlier today and stretching training longer I could do everything I wanted.

One of our guys was maxing his deadlift today at the end of a long training cycle. I was watching his 535 and 560, and they were hard as hell - he was starting with the bar too far out, having to reel it in once he broke the floor. I told him as much, he listened, and he ground out 590lbs for a lifetime PR. He couldn’t possibly have made this lift the way he had been setting up, because it was insanely hard, but because he took the right positions he was able to. And it was clean! I felt good about that; literally saved the training cycle for him, months of work that would have been wasted.

Man that’s awesome…he will always be thankful for that. It really is amazing sometimes how much more weight someone can lift with proper form and technique. And you probably saved him from a potential injury.

Now that’s a great session and awesome for the guy pulling a PR with some tech advice 🤘🏻
