I always get a huge boost switching to my comp squat from higher position work. Being able to lower the center of gravity, improve leverage with my back and load the hips harder really makes a profound difference.
This is also when drugs would be peaking for me though, so there’s a bit of a grain of salt there, but I’m talking shifting from the low 400s in my work up to 600ish at the meet. There can be a big difference when you put it all together: the optimal technique, the training peaking out, like I said drugs in my case, and of course just pushing mentally 10/10.
