Danb's Mountain Dog and everything else log

Alright guys little update. Not a whole lot new going on. Tweaked my diet a little bit i upped cals by 150 a day and am rotating carbs 125/150/200 and dropping them to 100 on off days. Keeping fats around 60g and filling in the rest with protein. Weight has been holding steady at 196, and still been killing it in the gym. Also I have been throwing in a free meal every 10 days which has helped a ton with not straight up binge eating when I do get a free meal like I was when I was only allowing myself 1 free meal every 4-6 weeks. Much better for my mood as well lol.

Gotta structure in those cheat meals man, so many people fall off the wagon for a day / weekend / week after dieting too hard for too long.

Definitely man. I feel like its one thing to eat 100% clean ALL the time for weeks on end when your working towards a certain goal in a certain time frame. But.i decided im going to keep cutting/recomping until this time next year so im in no real hurry. Will a cheat meal every 2 weeks set me back a day or 2? Yes. But the way I look at it I have to keep my sanity to stay in this for the long haul lol.

Nice update Dan. Glad to hear things are still on track. Seems like you have a real handle on things!

A cheat meal once a week wont even set you back. There is no reason other than a competition and even then only in the final 4-6 weeks that someone should not have a free meal once a week. Obviously the free meals are smaller in that scenario but nonetheless. Now if you can't handle them and sabotage yourself every time then no you shouldn't. For example, If you diet and cut your calories down by 2000 over the course of a week then have a free meal that adds 2000 cals well you see my point. However adding 500-700 calories to one meal once a week especially if a lot of it is carbs is actually beneficial for most dieters by replenishing leptin which helps to bring the BMR back up, and the body is so ready for them that they are soaked into the muscle well before they can be stored as fat.

Oh there is one other time when free meals should not be had, and that is in the beginning stages of a diet. Give yourself a few weeks, preferably about a month to get used to the new eating and gain control so you don't go nuts. Plus it takes a bit for the leptin to be released as fat is burned so typically at the beginning of the diet there is no need for leptin replenishment to stoke the fire.

Think of that free meal like adding charcoal to a bbq pit when it begins to cool off you toss a little extra in periodically to keep the fire burning nice and hot.

Anyway update time. Been sick as fuk for about 10 days now. Nothing serious I have allergies pretty bad so for like 6 days I couldnt breath out of my nose, watery itchy eyes, sinus headaches ect which about 4 days ago turned into a pretty nasty chest cold. Still been lifting hard (as possible) 30 sec rest/drop sets fuking suck when you cant breath lol. Weight is holding pretty steady around 193-194. Got picked to log a killer stack from PES/SNS so ill drop a link here in a few days and switch logs for a little while.

Hey guys! lol sorry its been lacking a little in here. Not a whole lot to update on really. Hit chest and a little bit of shoulders today. I actually loggee everything on my phone but of course when I went to copy/paste it to here it deleted its self...again. P1sses me off! I belive it went something like this

Flat BB bench 5 working sets starting at 225 for 10 and finishing at 275 for 5

Wide Grip OH press-6 sets starting with 55 lbs and working up to 80. Takes my shoulders at least 3-4 warm up sets tonget loose for these

Incline DB press 3/4 lockout slow negatives constant tension
3 sets with 70's 12/9/7

Rear delt cable flys
3 sets

1 arm peck deck
4/4/2 x 2 sets with 150

Deficit push ups 2 sets

Parallel cable flys 2 sec squeeze. 3 sets

That about covers it.

If you haven't been following my sponsored log I've had going this is what you've missed...a battle with what im assuming to be a blood sugar problem. For some reason if I try to go low carb I get extremely hypo feeling. I've adjusted macros to stay at moderate carbs (around 150-200) and I have 1 high carb day a week. Which has completely solved the problem and i actually feel 10x better on a daily basis. Calories are still in the 2300 range. But once I got all that straightened out I ended up catching the god awful flu that went around. Was sick as sh1t for 10-12 days.
BUT back to 100% now and ready to rip it up! Went in today and hit back. Weight is still hovering right around the 190 range. I may do a couple more weeks in the 2300 range and slowly ramp up to 2800 cals for a couple weeks and throw a fat burner in to ramp the old metabolism back up and then drop back down. Here's today's numbers. Not back on an all put MD training style just yet. But will be shortly

Foam rolled my back and did hanging leg raises for abs. Gonna be down to a couple days a week at the gym for the next couple weeks because the gym has its daycare closed because they are remodeling so I'll have to make due. I'm thinking about doing an upper/lower body split until they can get it up and going.
 
Shoulder day. Couldn't believe the pump I had going. Was pretty painful and actually hindered my lifts at the end. The smith presses were ridiculously hard for as light as they were lol everything was less than 40 second rest with just enough rest between lifts to go to the next one.

Gave in and smoked a doe. Fuking rage broad heads blow. Cocksmoker didn't open. Thank god I put it through lungs and it still made a mess.

Other than that I really don't like the buck situation this year. Nothing but devil spikes and small basket racks on 1.5 y/o deer. Gun opens Saturday though. That's when it gets interesting. And freezers get full.

I shoot the 2" 2 blade og rage as well. I'm just going to go back to a fixed 3 cut on contact like a montec or similar. The ruts been weird. It has something to do with the small bucks.

What type of volume are you looking for? If lower volume maybe a DC type split of Chest/Back/Shoulders/Triceps, and Biceps/Hams/Calves/Quads 1-2 exercises each. If moderate to high then the layout you have above looks nice. Sometimes I like to do things a little different so my arms get hit twice a week. Once Direct and once via Compound movement where they are secondary players.

So it would be like this
chest/shoulder/Biceps where you crush the biceps while fresh, and triceps are hit as secondary movers.
Legs
back/triceps where you crush triceps fresh and bis are hit as secondary movers.

Also a nice one is to move the shoulders to the leg day so you have more time for the different angles on shoulders than doing 3 body parts on the first day.

Gun season opens here in IN Saturday too. I'll prolly drive my butt across the border and bowhunt ohio. All the crazies come out in IN on opening day shooting anything that moves. I haven't really gun hunted in a while. Hell Ive only ever killed one with a gun. TBH it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if IN completely did away with it lol
