Dad's Corner

what i like is hearing my kids complain when their kids do the same things they did.........now that IS priceless!!!

grandkids, gotta love em!!!!!

My son just got his drivers license ! They do grow up fast .... and each age level comes with its own parental stress ...... Not gonna be up late losing sleep because he's crying in his crib (seems like that was only yesterday!) .... now I am gonna be up worrying because he's out on the road with all the other crazy drivers.

Wrap him in bubble wrap and he should be ok.

The funny thing about this post is that I laugh at my kids all the time when they bring the drama and I tell them that someday they're going to be complaining to me about their kids doing the same thing they are currently doing....and I'll laugh at them again then too.

lol...my mom cursed me...she always told me, 'i hope you have kids just like you'.

what is really funny is that as i got older my parents got smarter, lol...all that stuff they told me when i was a kid started to make sense, i guess it's a good thing i paid attention even though they never thought i was!!!

i wish everyone could grow up the way it was in the 60's-70's...... when mom's went to work and started shipping babys off to daycare is when this country started to decline, imo!!!! i am an old fashioned sexist pig, women need to stay home and care for the kids and men need to work and earn the pay!!! this is the way it was meant to be....

Good idea. Gonna have to try that. I will surely know when he gets home because of all the popping sounds from the bubble wrap. You know its impossible to resist the urge to pop the stuff whenever its nearby ;)

Not looking forward to Christmas this year. Ex wife's coming to get our son for a few months before she pops out this baby.

Going on my 1st multi day military trip since I've had my girls. It's only 5 days, but my wife is taking them up to my in-laws, which only adds to my stress. They are decent people, but just a little....shall we say, off.
Oh well, I'm off to New Orleans to go play airplanes with another unit.

My wife is getting induced tomorrow morning!!! How was you're guys training with a newborn?

Congrats! Training was hard at first, I definitely took some time off, and ended up having to do it on lunch breaks at work. Take some time off and enjoy that new little one!

Congrats bro. Like Nick said, take some time and enjoy it. Soon you will be more worried about sleep lol.

I can't really remember though my girls are turning 10 and 12 yikes!

Thanks guys and yea that's what I thought lol
Lol. Congrats man! I workout at home most of the time so training was "ok" lol. I'm worried about our second one on the way though. Luckily my son and I (almost 2) "workout" in the garage together. Workouts may not be as focused and intense at times but I get to interact and play with my son in between sets. I love it and he looks forward to it. He loses it if I don't let him out there haha.

My mom says the same thing! Which is scary lol. My wife always says that isn't fair because she was a good kid haha

Bumping this one for some ideas:
I have 1 of my 8 month olds who is hitting the "not wanting to eat" phase. She is still on a bottle with her cereal, but loses interest about 1/2 way through and I literally have to hold her still and make her eat. I know I'm not the only one who has dealt with this. What are some tricks you guys have used, or did it just stop after time?

I'll throw something in the thread. Just really proud of my little girl. She just turned eleven. Was a chubby girl and we have been worried about that for years. We worked with her thru healthy living classes - Medically supervised. Encouraged and set a good example. She went to doctor last week and had grown two inches in height and lost two pounds. She is really leaning out quickly.

Some other things I have noticed, she doesn't sneak food anymore, makes more conscious decisions and is more active now than ever. She's come along way. Her grades are straight A's as well.

Proud Dad here.

Very, very good job!

it's always nice to hear that it has just gone away for other people, gives me hope! Haha. We are finding that adding other distractions to meal time actually help... Which seems odd, but I'll take it

Awwww, Wade! They're so cute and getting so big!

We started giving our daughter more varied foods around 9 months abd she hasn't slowed down on the eating since. Hard to believe ours is 18 months tomorrow!

Thread Bump time!!!

Any other twin parents here? My 2 girls are teething at the same time and my life is a füking nightmare right now. I haven't slept in 3 days, and neither has my wife. We try shifts, but when both freak out, that goes out the window. I just wanna know that someone else here has been through this hell!

Sorry W, both my kids were almost exactly the same well tempered children during teething. Have you tried the homeopathic teething tabs? They come in a light blue bottle, and they absorb quickly. They should have them down in your neck of the woods.

Sorry to hear that! My little one had a rough time only with two teeth but they popped pretty quickly. When she would be super fussy, baby orajel really saved us and the chilled teething rings as well. I think those helped the teeth pop quicker too

It's rough. Try some ice pops or popsicles. The cold will provide some pain relief and the sugar will cause seritonin release which will help them fall asleep again.

The orajel we used was a really low dose one for infants but I think we only used it twice.

Thanks guys. It's been tough, and we've tried a lot.
Baby orajel helps a little, hell we even did the old whiskey trick for them (and me!)
Guess I just needed an outlet to vent at so I came here. My wife is going batshît crazy and the kids are just having rough nights. Although right now they are happy as can be in their walkers trying to break my ankles as I cook... Lil turds!!

Right here buddy. They work miracles.

We used the chilled teething rings, also those big fat teething cookies, I recall they were a pretty big hit. I will add this though, stay away from sugar as much as you can! Esp. in drinks. I indulged both my daughters and paid a heavy price for it later in dental bills.

Well it turns out that they both have ear infections, hence the miserableness and runny noses. Teething toys are working ok, but they get bored easy, and I'm pretty sure they like to play fetch with me. We bought those teething tablets MountainMan suggested and will try them tonight

They're gorgeous, Wade! I can't believe they're almost 1!!! ???

My youngest turned 3 yesterday. Was an awesome day. Can't believe how time is flying by.
