Dad's Corner

So my moms mad that I won't bring my 2 year old son up for a visit while she's dating a registered sex offender
 
First unscheduled trip to the Doc's today :( girls are pooping soup. It's pretty gross, I feel bad for the lil ones
 
Yeah man, the most annoying part in the beginning is not knowing what is doctor worthy and what is going to ride itself out. We are very calm, rationale people and found ourselves at the doctor constantly only to be told that there is nothing to do other than comfort them and wait.

Just wait til daycare or school starts.
 
Yea, we called our doctor alot but thankfully never had to go in besides the regular checkups. We seriously called alot cause we're first time parents
 
Anyone ever try to get a stool sample off of a 3 week old?? Not very easy! I have to tape a bag to their arses!!!

My boys got man sized poops so this would be no issue, in fact just the other day he pooed in my hand while I was changing him, potty training is not going well I've had dogs that were easier to train lol
 
Enjoy it sir! I know it's hard going back to work but it makes it so much sweeter when you get home.

sure am man!!! Although don't tell that to my sleep schedule. They are hitting the "need to be held" all night stage.

Well my baby will be turning 16 this year. Very proud of her, she works hard in the classroom and on the softball field.
She plans on trying out for the powerlifting team at high school. What else could make a dad proud.
She is way tougher than me that's for sure!
 
Spent all of yesterday in the er with my son poor guy took a spill out of his high chair got a small fracture in the back of his skull he's doing good now though.
 
He's 2 and yeah I freaked when they told me that, but apparently it happens all the time and as long as it doesn't break all the way and there's no bleeding its not a big deal just gotta be extra diligent about making sure he doesn't hit the back of his head for a few weeks and he's got a follow up in 2 weeks for another ct scan and xray
 
That had to be scary for you. I woulda freaked out.

Ever heard of nurse maid elbow? Yeah, freak out city. I was going to pick up my daughter when she was 2 and had a hold of her wrist, then she decided she didn't want to be picked up and threw her legs out from underneath her to go in a sitting position. That popped her elbow right out of the socket- but you obviously don't know that the first time and I thought I broke her arm. I am yelling for my wife and just grab her to rush to the doctor. We get there and I am in full explanation mode so they aren't thinking anything terrible and they kind of half laugh and tell me to relax, it happens all the time. ???? Apparently the joints don't form all the way until they are 4-5 and they easily pop out, but it is really painful.

Yeah, that and also her actually breaking her arm from deciding not to wait for the slide at daycare and trying to jump off the top. That was a wonderful call to get.

I am now officially terrified that my daughter is close to walking, lol.
 
I need a cup, was watching planet hulk with my son, he walks up to me says hulk smash and hammerfists me in the nuts

Right on BigRed...my 10 year old is a softball girl too. This will be her third year in select ball. We're trying to work on batting left handed and slap hitting now since she's so small and fast. It seems like our whole summer is planned around softball.

Dang Oscar...a skull fracture. Ouch. Kids will be kids, but after the first trip to the ER you get a little more cautious. It's a bad feeling taking the little ones to the ER. My 7 year old broke both bones in his arm at Animal Kingdom a few years ago...talk about a nightmare. It was so bad that my wife puked in the hospital room from nerves. Apparently it didn't heal correctly and he re-broke both bones playing hockey in the basement about 7 months later and this time I was a nervous wreck thinking something was wrong with him that it didn't heal.
 
Yeah no more high chair for the little man, had to bust out the little tyke table and chair

Very cool!! Mine is pure power, not much speed..lol but we are working on that!
 
If your daughter is only 3 weeks old she's waking up because she needs to eat! Little babies can't carry much food in their stomachs and they're growing at a tremendous rate, so they have to eat every few hours. Once she gets a bit bigger and can hold more food she'll start sleeping through the night, it's entirely natural, people are *not* nocturnal, we sleep at night it's our nature. You don't have to do anything to encourage that behaviour, it will happen all by itself, not soon enough though right!

I have 3 kids and I raised them mostly by myself because both my ex-wives are basket cases. Raising kids is not that hard, you don't really have to do a lot in terms of behaviour modification, most things come pretty naturally. Just be there and take care of what they need and you'll be fine and they'll be great.
 
Hello all, new dad checking in. Not new with kids, huge family and massive amounts of nieces and nephews. She was in the NICU for she first 4 days but finally home! She does not like her swing or bouncer will wait a month or two.

How do you guys warm up bottles? Trying to find the most effective way.

I just use warm water for the bottles(not too hot ofcourse)

(Tap water in Holland is super pure by the way)
 
I bought a bottle warmer for my girls, but didn't leave them in as long as it said...got way to hot. If you have a few minutes b4 they need to eat, I would just put the bottles in a container of hot water for about 2-3 min, usually did the trick
 
Congrats man! As far as bottles go our baby did and does not like warmed bottles. When taking from the fridge I ran it under warm water for a short time. If not we give to her straight from the tap.

Congrats man! Quickest is a bottle warmer, but it is very easy to over heat. I preferred to run the bottle under hot water from the tap.
 
We started off warming the bottles for our first and realized that we were creating our own issue by getting her to expect it warm all the time. Not to convenient if you are out an about. So we weaned that and just started getting her used to room temp or close. Made life easier.

Our second would drink it cold, hot, whatever. As long as it was food.
 
Ah smart cutting down the warm ones. We have to go down stairs warm a pot and pace bottle. My tap is hit or miss or how long hot water takes. Thanks for the suggestions.
 
Get off warn water as soon as you can. Rom temp all the way. Ours even likes cold now
