Dad's Corner

Just carried my daughter upstairs to bed after a nasty leg workout today. That sucked.

Just found this thread, and not a day too soon. My wife and I were planning on having kids, and we're very excited since the news of her pregnancy....what snuck up on us, is that it's TWINS!!! Now with karma from a past life not in my favor, I'm sure they will be girls (we don't know yet though) and with my wife's looks, they will be knockouts some day.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still very happy and very excited, just a tad on the nervous side. We were only planning on 1, and the $$ is gonna be tight!

Congrats man! Being a daddy is awesome. But while you can, as a father of a daughter who is already showing signs of being a hotty like mommy, I strongly suggest a gun or 2, or 5, and the scariest most intimidating tattoos possible. We all know how guys think, and since I've already scared the sh!t out of some of my sisters' boyfriends I KNOW I'll be doing the same with the little pukes who think they're good enough for my little girl. :AR15firing:

My 6yo daughter got a mermaid tail thing for swimming for Christmas and I took her to the pool the other day to try it out. I was shutting down little boys talking about her left and right. I told my wife that we need to start a bail collection because she may need it for me in about 5 years.

Welcome to the club my brotha.

Tats are already there, full back, flames, devils n angels, dragons, the whole shebang. As far as guns, I'm coming up on year 15 in the military, so that's no prob!
Now just gotta up the heavy lifting to get bigger!!

Flames, devils and angels, dragons? Good lord man, you may even scare your OWN kids!

What branch you in? My wife was in the corps. for 5 years until her dad got sick and she had to transfer to the army to be near him. She's got 19 in, just re-upped, and has a 1 month class in Feb. which is her last step before she can hit E-8. Thank you for serving. I know what a sacrifice it can be.

^ I'm hoping they will be used to the ink since they will see it from day 1.
I'm in the Air Force. Having to deploy and explain to them why I'm going to be gone for a few months will be tough. Luckily our deployments are usually not as long as the other branches, but hard nonetheless.
That's awesome your wife is almost at 20! Hope she gets E-8 soon. I'm an E-7 also, but have a few years before I can think promo.

Great **** in here guys!
Whenever I talked about being a daddy on any other site, the trolls came out of the wood work to give me a hard time. This is the first site that i have been accepted for being a devoted father. I must tell you, its an amazing feeling.

I think part of it is because as people without the huge egos we know being a good father is part of being a man.

I look at the boys and snarl at them, and they seem to go away quickly......

I totally agree with you. It's funny, the publics perception of people like us is that we are self centered, ego driven people, but I have found it to be quite the opposite. I have never found a more well balanced group of men than I have found here. I do believe that I have found a home here.

My little one is 4 and a half and disney princesses literally rule my life lol. She's got the dresses from every movie....such a girlie girl. Just like mom.

I've been lucky because my daughter is about the same age, she'll be 5 in August. She just loves princesses, my little ponies, and barbies, but she wanted to stay up and watch the Super Bowl with me, she keeps asking when I'm going to take my motorcycle out, and she gets mad when she can't find her Red Sox hat. She always has to be in the garage when I'm working on my truck too. She tried taking a tire off one day. It was pretty funny and pretty cute.

Our youngest stayed home with my folks and we brought out 6yo who was 5 1/2 at the time, to Disneyland this year. 4 1/2-7ish is so perfect for them because they are old enough to get it and not too old that they don't buy into all the fantasy. To see the excitement when they have a favorite princess and meet them is unreal.

Frozen has been the big thing in our house for the last 6 months. Reenactments of the movie, songs, made up dances, etc...

My little almost one year old picked out her gold sparkly shoes with purple flowers on them to wear to daycare today. She was so proud she had to show them off to me after mom put them on.

Yeah, I don't care how big and tough you are, you're going to cry, but no tissues, only sleeves to at least toughen that up a little.

I've always tried to be this big tough guy, and like most guys our age was taught boys don't cry, ever. But I had to say I absolutely cried the day both my kids were born. Not bawling like a baby, tears of joy, but none the less still "crying".

Touched on this one once before.....

Thanks everyone. Yea I agree I do not mind crying about anything anymore. I now know the true meaning of the movie Field of dreams when the father plays catch with his son. I tear up every time I watch it.

Oh the joys of bringing you children home from preschool, you know, the germs. My daughter came home and threw up all over the bathroom, but at least she tried to get to the toilet. And now my wife is camped out next to the toilet getting ready to boot as well. Porbably only a matter of time before my son and I are doing the same. Ugh.

Weird, my daughter came home from kindergarten really tired and complaining of her stomach burning. I made dinner for my youngest and sat on the couch with my other rubbing her stomach. Then she started crying and said she had to throw up, so we ran to the bathroom and ended up staying there for the next 4 hours. She threw up probably about 10-12 times and now this morning is feeling fine.

That is weird, little bit of distance between VT and CO. Still no fun though.

Schools are germ factories. Before she started going to school my daughter was never sick.

That is actually one of the good things. My kids got everything when they started, but now they don't get half the stuff everyone else does now because immunity is building up.

Thats a good point. My daughter hardly ever gets sick anymore.

I taught preschool while going to college and same thing, I got with everything under the sun my first year, but since then I hardly even get the occasional cold. Drives my wife nuts because she gets sick at the drop of a hat.

I'm lucky, i almost never get sick. I haven't been too sick to go to work in over a decade.

This. Always hard to see your little ones feel like crap but nature is tough love.

Same way here! Wife has been sick on three separate occasions the past twenty weeks and I haven't been sick enough to miss work for a year

Just spent the weekend at Jay peak resort at the water park. Fun times!

Aww. In regards to pictures let's just say I'm a first time dad, video and photography is a big part of my job, and I bought a nice DSLR and computer. I think I may have a problem, lol. I have a lot of pictures and need to take quite a bit of video to finish the project I'm working on for her first year, but I make sure to get plenty of time with her without the camera out.
On another note, we were dreading the transition into the crib. Turns out we had nothing to dread, she's actually sleeping better and longer since we switched! First night we did it she slept for 7 hours straight.

Just got some added work done on my kids tattoo.

I'm just attaching them from my phone using the .jpg pics my camera takes.
