Bulk BCAA's from Nutra

Hi there,

I have been taking bulk BCAA's from Nutraplanet for the last 2 weeks (40grams per day) and the results have been great.

My new problem is that I'm now starting a cut and I won't be using milk with my protein powder and I have found that when I mix everything in water, the BCAA's don"t seem to disolve at all (it's really clumpy) and the taste is pretty horrible as well.

any ideas as to what to mix it with?

Thanks in advance!!

i usually mix it with crystal light energy...its only got like 70mg of caffeine in it but its enough to keep u awake throughout the day...so i mix 6-7 packets of crystal light and my BCAA's into a gallon bottle and im ready to go for the day...or just get some XTEND:head::head:

Yeah, I will use xtend during workouts only (otherwise the cost will add up)

Crystal Light, what is that?? (I forgot to mention, I'm in Australia)

Is that like Tang? (without the sugar)

I would suggest you mix it with some Gatorade or Powerade powder or something similar. Shake, leave it in fridge for a while and shake again and drink (can pre mix it before your workout and leave it in the fridge for after if you like ). Take your shake in water seperately if you have flavoured protein. I have also done this with Ribena and it wasn't too bad.

You may wish to look into Xtend if the taste is an issue

Mixing it beforehand and letting it sit (either overnight or just for an hour or two) helps immensely. Also lowering the pH of the drink by adding something like lemon juice is another trick I use. Crystal light is a great way to cover the taste.

doesnt gatorade have HFCS in it? probably not a good idea for a cut if thats the case

I've heard adding lemon juice changes the pH and makes it dissolve easier

**steveoph beat me to it

Not exactly. I don't have the bottle on hand, but I think the density is around 400 mg 1/4/tsp. Therefore 40g = 25 tsp.
(I'm a bit tired, but 0.25tsp x 100 = 25 tsp, 400mgx100=40g)
oh yeah duh...lol...that sure is a lot...I have been using about 10g a day figuring I gain some from Creatine and food as well.

Crystal Light is the name of a sugar-free, energy-free beverage (originally just a beverage powder, which could be soluble in water). It comes in many different flavors, and is made by Kraft Foods.

Originally marketed in 1984 with Linda Evans as its spokesperson (the company got Evans to endorse the product, as her character on Dynasty was named Krystle Carrington), the company later had stars Raquel Welch and Priscilla Presley as spokeswomen. The catch phrase for each of the ads was, "I believe in Crystal Light, because I believe in me!"

It has 5 calories per serving, and a serving is 8 fluid ounces.

Crystal Light is usually sweetened with aspartame, but the newer prepared beverages are now sweetened with sucralose.

Crystal Light has recently begun producing Crystal Light Energy, which contains 60mg of caffeine per serving, or 120mg caffeine per packet.

As of 2007, Crystal Light and similar beverages have experienced a surge in popularity[citation needed], particularly among those seeking to reduce their intake of sodas or juices.

Wish we had that in Australia :P

I usually mix mine the night before and let it sit in the fridge. I shake it when ever I open the door to get something by the next morning it is all dissolved.

Yes, it does. And Crystal Light has aspartame, which I also like to avoid. BCAA's are tough. I usually just suck it up and put mine in a water bottle and chug it. Sometimes I'll chew a piece of Trident afterwards to get the taste out of my mouth..

I mix 20-40 grams in about 8-16 oz of grapefruit juice in a 32 oz shaker bottle, shake it up and then fill the remaining with water. Sometimes I'll do 20g BCAA and a scoop of whey. Either way, the powder is more of a suspension than a solution, but it tastes fine to me. 8 oz of gf juice has about 23 gm of carbs.

Mixing that stuff with water sounds really horrible.
