I agree 100%. didn't know any better back in the day. I still see guys at the gym doing them and it makes me cringe. Also behind the neck lat pull downs.

I blame years of Behind The Neck Presses for how screwed up my shoulders are today.
It’s funny they never bother my shoulders but I never go to too heavy with them bc I get bad neck pain at that point. But I feel if you go light and don’t go all the way down they’re very effective in getting the rear delts and traps from a diff angle

Ya know I never do lat pulldown behind head. I did it awhile ago and didn’t care for it. Can’t remember exact reason though

I’m still getting the hang of these bfr bands, figuring out which exercises they work best in, the ones I like the best, tightness of bands etc. all I can say so far is two things: the pain in a bfr set is real but the pump and roadmap veins they give is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. It takes permaswole pumps to a whole new level

Speaking of permaswole I have three scoops of apple left and am trying to decide which to open next the watermelon or the strawberry kiwi. I just finished some lemon lime dextrose a cpl weeks ago and don’t want to hit the lawless lemon lime yet.

Macros are kinda dumb today I ate way more than I should’ve and will be around 1100 surplus so I’ll balance it out a bit tomorrow and Sunday by only being about 100 over then get back to the 500-600 plan again on Monday

One week in on this run. Started out at 179, weighed in this morning at 180.2. So 1.2 lbs is a pretty good gain in a week. Should be mostly lean mass at that increase too.

It’s pretty amazing though that I actually lost .8 lbs from yesterday to this morning though as I ate horribly yesterday and wound up at a 1265 cal surplus. But weights weird I especially noticed this when cutting bc there’d be days where you’d have a big deficit and gain weight yet sometimes a small one would garner a huge loss.

But 1.2 I’m good with if that stays consistent through the rest of the run that’ll be about 10 lbs lbm gain. Which is a solid gain. But this is just the first week. And I’m sure that it’ll only increase over the next few weeks as the x gets more and more into my system.

Gonna go hit some abs and prob do a bfr set of quads and one of hams just bc I want to but nothing super intensive today. Will do a quick post later.

A lot of stuff I do is based on feel btw. Some days I’ll hit 90 lb calf raises for 20 reps and another I might only hit 12. Like I said a lot of playing it by feel.

Damn fine day today.

Dad wanted to go to the casino impromptu, so said why not. Wound up winning 50 in the first 15 minutes. Shut it down at that point and just meandered about until my dad was done.

Back and calves today. Felt real strong upon waking this am and feeling stayed with me all day. I knew it would be a good session.

Woke up so late today. Not idea why either. So hit up a short shoulder trap session. Funny thing is dude I went to hs with reached out on messenger and asked if I wanted a workout partner. Dudes way out of shape. I told him I’d start him slow but he said no man I can keep up. So I said ok just so what u can. 25 yes 25 minutes in, he said he underestimated how taxed he’d be and he left. So I told him I’ll text him when I’m heading out tomorrow and he said he was actually busy, so I said Friday will be easy it’s an arm day...nope doesn’t want to ruin his bowling game Friday night. Lol. So I just said if he wants to work out again just let me know. I knew he wouldn’t last the whole time but Just goes to show ppl who r in such poor physical condition just need to stick to it but unfortunately most don’t. When I started out I was totally out of shape, started with bw exercise and progressed from there. I also had severely herniated discs. Man I thought about quitting before during and after every workout but then one day everything just clicked and I started looking forward to it. He reached out, I guess that’s a start. And maybe I should have more empathy but I never do when I know I went through it and it’s definitely possible to overcome whatever. Goes for anything too not just gym.

As u can tell I’m focusing heavily on traps. I’ve seen growth since I started this, which partially started bc of pressing issues with the shoulder, so really trying to push forward on weak points...traps and calves are way better since I started focusing on them...forearms are next in line

Nothing really new as to how I’m feeling etc. but recovery has definitely been better on x than off it. Strength feeling started up yesterday and was definitely here again today but bc of shoulder didn’t want to chance it by going heavy. Legs should be a damn good barometer tomorrow.

I woke up, felt like an animal, a total beast. I was actually feeling sorry for those plates I’d be squatting and pulling later in the day.

The feeling stayed with me as I entered the gym. Everything was on point. I even got my favorite rack, not that that actually makes a pennies worth of difference though. But still it’s the one I seen to pr on more than the others, probably is simply a coincidence but still...

Warmed up with 45x10, then 5 reps each for 135 and 225. Threw on another plate and easily hit the 315x2, which is what I planned on. Tossed a dime on each side, ready to take it down. Hit it for 2 reps.

Next up was the pr. 350 would’ve given it to me at my current weight but I took off the dimes and tossed up a quarter each side. Yeah I should’ve stopped as shake it off popped on the headphones...look no judgements but I made this crazy all encompassing mix and yeah I like that song,but it’s more a cardio song than a 365 lb squat pr tune.

Anyhow I just couldn’t get to parallel and yeah I looked like those dudes who are I. Every gym. The ones who put way more weight than they can handle but get zero depth...well I wasn’t happy with what I got...that’s the difference between me and them. So I then tried 350. Got a little deeper but I am not counting it.

So anyhow I finished the squats strong enough to feel decent about the work. 315x4,286x6,265x6

Felt too easy so went for 365 and got it. But of course I didn’t wait long enough and went for 375 which would b a sumo pr. But only got it shin high. So finished up with another 315x5 and 225x10

Last year I took the lg sciences bulking andro kit. That one was a stack of andros and was made to really hit in a month. I enjoyed it. It’s really hard for me to truly justify a comparison at this point for a cpl reasons. 1. Only 2 weeks in after today and while I’ve definitely felt it working so far I really feel this is something that will truly take over as I beat that second bottle. 2. Prob most important for comparison purposes is that I’m way more advanced in my training at this point than I was back then.

I’ll go back to that log and do a bit of a comparison after first bottle is done so remind me if I forget, as I am getting up there in age lol

Two weeks In the books.

Recovery is definitely noticed as while some soreness is still there no where near what it used to be

Hunger is stupid.

Strength: feeling is strong. And I can say I’ve seen affirmative results throughout the week.

Food I believe is being processed really well. May have to up my cals bc despite being at a 400-600 surplus every day except one where I was at 150 and did have 1 day of a 90 cal deficit, wound up losing .4 lbs this week. Really just happened yesterday and figured it was just an anomaly but cane in at 179.8 again this am.

So about a lb gained in 2 weeks. Perhaps I just underestimated how well this processes calories so I’ll have to pay strict attention to staying at or above a 600 cal def this week and see how it goes. I feel way bigger though so who knows maybe I’m getting a bit of a recomp effect even in a surplus. Here’s a comparison I can’t really see much of a difference physically but maybe u guys can:

Overall I’m digging the feeling. I don’t know if it’s translating to the camera yet but I feel stronger and bigger so imo seems to be doing its th bb just fine. Might just need more donuts to bolster things lol

Day off yesterday and what a fu day today was.

Ok. For those that have read my logs in the past, already know this, but for those who haven’t, well I have a type of seasonal affective disorder that brings about super crazy depression like symptoms whenever it’s dark damp gloomy etc... used to be days where I’d just stay in bed all day. Lifting has been a lifesaver for me in regards to this, as while it’s still hard af to get out, I at least know that once I get my blood going I’ll be g2g for a little while at least.

So that was the morning. But like has been the case the past while I got myself to the gym.

At this point I had a pretty good pump going and I was feeling a while hell of a lot better. Actually I felt pretty beastly at that moment. So I thought to myself shoulder feels good, I feel strong let’s see what we can do today. Put two plates up on the bar, grabbed a spotter, and it was super light. I was feeling it.

So put 245 on the bar and got that for a single and definitely had another 10 in me at least,but unfortunately shoulder felt a bit off so I took my winnings and played it safe.

Dropped back to 225 and hit an easy 3, again leaving a few in the tank. Finished doing the same with 6 @185.

While none of these numbers are great imo I’m ecstatic bc I haven’t been over 205 in months. And I like ok at this as a huge hurdle crossed where I came out basically unscathed.

Felt good. And even though relatively quick I feel like I moved some weight got a good pump and stayed in good shoulder shape.

Got home though and this damn damp cold air infuriatingly inflamed the arthritis in my spine from where I have the herniated discs. Long story but back in 2007 I was in an accident and 7 discs were in bad shape. Used to be all fu and lifting literally saved my life by building up the musculoskeletal area. But arthritis dug in and hurts like a mfer in days like this. So dad gave me a pker and feeling good again.

Halloween edition.
No tricks just treats.

First off a couple of things. That arthritis in my back was so bad last night I called the doc this am. He was too packed to fit me in but apparently the overly damp and cold days have caused a stir if this pain in his patients the past few days. Always good to hear you’re not alone. But he gave me a prescription for some flexeril, while not a pain killer he said along with some Advil I should be g2g. Will know in about twenty minutes I guess.

Second, my dad is classic. Back then n September he convinced my mom to buy 5 monster bags of Halloween candy. He’s been eating through it ever since. 2 bags left today and he’s decided to leave the lights off tonight bc he’s not feeling up to going in and out of the cold. And he knows no one else will give the candy out either.

Hit back and calves today. Strength keeps growing in feeling and once again that feeling translated into performance.

Very pleased with today’s results. Especially the work I got in post rack pull, as I was pretty spent at that point.

I wonder if the Chemical X isn't adding to your back pain a bit.
Not sure but I really think it’s the dampness and cold but I guess if it persists after the dampness lifts then perhaps idk
