Question; I am on 100mg of Test-C TRT, I am currently not lifting at all, my thinking is, I should continue to that this as it might help reduce and muscle wasting ?

I would like to here some knowledgeable feed back @Hyde your thought possibly ?

I wouldn’t stop your TRT. That would cause added issues on top of your current condition!

I would continue with your TRT, because of just what you said, it should help reduce muscle wasting. And like Sam said, stopping it could cause other issues as well, as a result of your Testosterone levels dropping. I’m sure Hyde could add to this.👍

My first thought would be that it would help reduce muscle loss and wasting.

BUT I would also ask your doctor if he feels like it is contributing to any issues with your bloodwork. Your situation is unique, and some of the treatments that you're going through are unique as well, and I doubt that they have been specifically studied in relation to whether testosterone will affect or influence them, so speaking with the specialist about if he feels like its negatively impacting your bloodwork is likely best.

I would be worried about dropping it - you desperately need all the red blood cell production you can get.

Good point ! I did ask my Dr. in Pittsburgh about 2 months ago when I was still lifting, and he said it was No Prolem, My local Dr. really did not have an answer for me she though 100mg a week was a pretty high Dose to be on. I did not mention how much I took on a blast!

She’s “one of those” dr’s. Most general practitioners don’t know very much about hormone replacement. I would listen to the Pittsburg dr

In her defense she is a Cancer Doctor and that is all she does.

Not working out right now I need to figure out the proper nutrition program, my maintenance was about 1800-2000 calories, so I guess I need to figure out Max calories to maintain muscle, but not gain fat ??

Yesterday I woke up and could not walk. Saturday or Sunday when I was getting out of the Hospital Bed I felt a very slight pull in my groin, the next day it felt a bit sore, yesterday I had to get my wife it find her days cane. When I got to the Cancer Center the nurses were all over, had it diagnosed as a sprain slight tear, put warm compression on it and gave me some Demerol thru my IV (I felt Great) this morning I woke up and it's 75% better. My Nurses are awesome !!

Part 2 of the story, How did I repay them, about 3/4 of the way I had a bad reaction to my chemo, if you have ever seen one of those hospital show where the patient is lying on the bed and all of a sudden there whole body starts to shake, that was me. So they gave me some more meds and I was ok 5 minutes later. The one Nurse told me in all her year she has seen this happen a lot and I was the only person she has seen that was laughing and joking during a seizure!

After the groin and reaction problem they put me back on the Decadron steroid, my lower back says Thank You!

They started my Chemo out very slowly today, I told the nurse to crank it up, this is a No Fear zone !! I had no reactions today

Life Is Good !!

I have diagnosed my self with Restless Leg Syndrome, anyone else deal with this? What did you do ?

Is this something you've dealt with before or something that has only been happening since you have been on chemo?

Supposedly they believe it starts when Dopamine levels in the brain are reduced and can cause muscle spasms and involuntary leg movements. Dopamine levels fall naturally at night, which is why it typically happens when you try to go to sleep. I’m not sure, in your case, what could cause it, unless it’s a Chemo side. My wife has them because of MS and takes Oxcarbazepine, an anti-seizure medication, for them. Not sure you want to go that route though, because that medication has its own side effects. With you having a seizure there’s a good chance that the restless legs is connected to Chemo unfortunately.

Nice very glad to hear! Keep it up!

I have had it for years but have been able to deal with it just using Tylenol, but that does not help during any more. I'm sure one of the many drugs I taking is making it worst.

I have heard mega dosing magnesium, B6, and ACV (4 TBSP) can help control it? Any experience with this?

I do take B6, SNS ZMA, not sure what ACV is?

I will take a look at this Oxcarbazepine and do a bit of studying.

Last night I tool a Aadvin at 8pm. (2) Benadryl at 9pm and and Oxy at mid-night, I finally went to sleep after that.

I know that they also use Prami to help control RLS. I have it, kick my legs like a dog scratching fleas in the middle of the night. Before we got a bad ass mattress I used to wake my wife up several times a night shaking the bed. I have never treated it with medicine though.

My Dr. tells me it because of the Benadryl they give me with my chemo, so they gave me some Advani today, that should take care of it. We will see ?

I grew up with some super minor issues of it, where I'd just toss my legs around a bit in bed. My dad always did, and my little brother would toss his whole body around growing up (it was hilarious) while going to sleep. worst restless leg syndrome I've had recently was a couple times in the past 8 months after severe leg days where I'd get legit tingling sensations and nothing but standing up and getting out of bed would make it better. I have no idea if it was like... lactic acid, early doms, some supplement I took, dehydration maybe?

It is better today with the Advani, but they only gave me a half does, maybe tomorrow I can test drive a full dose?

Today I woke up feeling great, I went to work from 6am till 9am and then off to my Chemo, they added a new additional drug today (Pentostatin) so now my IV in Fusion last about 4 hours. No sides so far so that's a good thing.

Over all a great day !!

Give it a week and find out. Glad you are feeling better though for sure!

Probably is wise to hold out a week like Kleen said just to be safe. Glad you had a great day though.
Like you always say “Life is Good” 😎

I am hoping next week I can start at least walking out side every morning.

Platelet Count 36
Normal range: 140 - 366 K/µL

I can't lift till they are over 50up, the only way to get them up right is a Transfusion or a Stem Cell transplant, the Chemo kills them along with the bad stuff!

I can’t remember are you getting a stem cell transplant after chemo?

im sure it’s got to be hard going through that and then not getting to do some of the things you enjoy. On the bright side you are a very strong individual and when you rebound you will get to be back to the iron!

Yes, after I go into remission, I will be checking into Hershey Penn State Medical Center for about 28 day for a Stem Cell Transplant. after that it take about 100 day to recover at home. My immune system will be at Zero after the transplant, so the 100 is to let the new stem cells dig in and start to work.

They tell me I will be considered to be in remission when my WBC (White Blood Count) get back in the normal range, which is 3.9 - 9.5, mine was as high as 410, yesterday it was down to 22.8 we are getting close !!!

Thank you all for the Prayers, Positive Vibes and words of encouragement! You have made a difference in my life!!

Stem cell treatment is becoming pretty popular for a lot of things now a days! Will be interesting to see how you feel and progress after the treatment.

Mine is a lot different than a treatment, they will kill (with Chemo & Radiation) every stem cell in my body and than replace them with donor cells.

I have used this off and on for years, and I still can't tell you if it works or not ??

It's tough but I know if I am not spending 1-1.5 hours in the gym a day, I need to be very careful. However I do need to eat enough to maintain the muscle I have, give my body the nutrients it needs to heal and not get fat. The Struggle Is Real ! But I have never walked a way from a challenge !!

It’s good though that you are doing what you can by keeping nutrition in order, and even walking or what ever activity you would be allowed, because when the Doctors give you the green light you will already be ahead of most and basically hit the ground running, or should I say lifting.💪

Looking good! Victory is right around the corner!!

Is Hershey the one with the great food? Do you actually like... pack a suit case for a 28 day stay or do you have to stay in the medical robe the whole time?
