2010 College Football Season

Im late to this thread but just wanna say UT has the best football program in the country. Its not even close.

I don't know I watched the NC game and when it was over, correct me if I'm wrong, rubbering's boys were the best. :nana:

Notice I said "program" which includes alot more than wins and losses. For example, recruiting, coaching, etc.

Well honestly having the best "program" should = championships. right? If you have the best recruits being coached by the best coaches then that should translate into wins/championships. Don't get me wrong UT is one of the top programs nationally but "best in the country it's not even close" that's a stretch for sure.

Things just keep getting more embarrassing for USC...

"Oh, sorry Alabama and Florida. Turns out we're full of sh1t."

"Sorry coach... but Miami isn't on probation."

Looks like USC fans are going to go to the same place UCLA fans of the 90s went. Back to the bandwaggoner trading post.

I remember a while back when I was on this board under another name, we were all talking college football.. Good times!!

Well, I'm all in for Michigan!!!! Yeah, it's been a tough few years, but each year shows a little more improvement!

I live about 15 minutes from the LSU campus & have to listen to those fans whine about Les Miles not winning another championship w/ Nick Satans (left Mich State for LSU) players!!

Anyway, I can't wait to see how Rich Rod does this year w/ more speed and an improved Defense!!!

I'm pretty sure that's never happened on this board. No past college football threads I'm aware of.

You must be the nation's most patient Wolverines fan. Most UM fans I know are beside themselves that Rodriguez is even getting another season.

Well, you'll get to hear them whine about Miles taking the vacant Michigan job in a few months. Unfortunately for Les, he won't have the luxury of having the caliber of recruits Saban left for him at LSU.

Anyway, I can't wait to see how Rich Rod does this year w/ more speed and an improved Defense!!!

Here, let me end the mystery for you: 6-7wins at most, and a bowl game if they're lucky.

No offense, but I thank Allah that your douche bag coach didn't take the Alabama job. At the time, he thought he was so clever. He practically gloated about it. He's not so haughty these days... for obvious reasons.

You know, I sometimes have nightmares about it... then I glance over at my framed 2010 BCS National Championship ticket... and all is right with the world once again.

why talk texas when the blackshirts are going start another highlight reel at memorial come gametime? Minus the star treatment of course. We'd like not to get screwed out of another W after a total and complete backdoor railing.

this was back in '03/'04.. Back when I knew just about everyone on the forum... AM has blown up over the past few years!

I guess I'm patient because I'm so far away from it all.. I know my family is pissed..

I agree/disagree w/ you.. We'll see. Not sure we want Les up there anymore..

I do believe Michigan will be a "Dark Horse" in the big 10 this season...8-4???

poss upsets of OSU..PSU..Iowa...wouldnt surprise me. They have the speed and talent on both sides of the ball....its all up to R.R. The front office of Michigan gave him another shot, they probably see some good in him(deep down):deal:

Darryl Clark, why couldnt we have you one more year??? You will be missed. One of the best QB's to come out of Happy Valley.

Yeah, Clark was a stud, huh. Living down here now, its harder to keep up w/ what the Wolverines are doing every day. When Aug rolls around I start emailing my brother about every or at least every other day for any updates. He went to the spring game & said Denard Robinson will give Tate Forcier a run for the starting spot this year.

I thought I read that Robinson beat Taint out for the job and is going to start. I sincerely hope Michigan gets it together and returns to prominence the Big Ten needs that. They aren't beating my beloved Buckeyes this year though no chance.

Personally, I don't think either QB is big enough for D1 football. Forcier provd that last year after a couple hard hits. MI got another running QB this year w/ a lot more size. If they don't red shirt him this year, I wouldn't be surprised if he played a bunch. I look forward to the day we can finally beat OSU again. You guys have had our number for years!!! It always chaps my ass to see the Buckeyes walking around w/ roses in their mouths at the end of the season! Lol.

After 1-9-1 in the John Cooper era I am really enjoying the dominance under Tressel, how many times did we come into THE game undefeated and ranked 1 or 2 nationally only to have National Championship hopes/dreams dashed by you guys? at least 3 that I can think of. It seems pretty clear to me that Rich Rod won't survive past this year, from what I've heard the Wolverines will need to compete for the Big Ten title to save his job and while I think they will be better I can't see that happening this year.

I know I have been out for a few months, but my prediction of my beloved Irish is 6-6, 7-6 tops. We still have no defense, and it's gonna take some adjusting on both sides of the ball this year. Hope to see at least 6 wins. Hell I'm just happy that the players aren't all at the "Hamburger Happy Hour" anymore.

Did you see Kelly's Cincinnati teams? I would get used to no defense.

Oh I have been aware of it since Holtz. But I refuse to get used to it. As long as we can score enough to keep the lead larger than 14 we'll be ok. Charlies' problem was we couldn't get enough ahead to stay ahead. Or play 4 FULL quarters of ball. That my friend, will be the game changer.

College footballs landscape has changed. The souths play has matched its passion. I dont see the north catching up save for a few juggernaut programs. ND is a media hype machine, you can only lose your winning ways for so long before they are forgotten. Beating cupcakes and then meeting real times wont be a good thing for yall.

I'n not on here to argue, especially with you, but no matter our SOS; people who dislike us will say it's weak when by fact it isn't. When our SOS is top 20, they say we suck because we got beat by a few teams. When our SOS is not top 20, we suck and only win due to our SOS. So its lose lose for ND most of the time in others eyes. I do agree however that this year's is on the weak side compared to the last 5-6 yrs. When other teams play AA teams, they talk them up as "trap games". Not pushovers. That could be said about cupcakes on our past schedules. Notice I said cupcakes, not trap games.

Enhanced...

What's your opinion on the ND/Skunkbear game this year? It's up in the air with me. Blue has an advantage this go round.

Unless you can take a great lead and keep it. Then, and only then would it be an exception.

Yeah, but it's not going to be the exception on a weekly basis. That's the kind of football Cincy, Notre Dame, and Stanford played last year. Sooner or later, the offense is going to have a low-scoring game, even if they rack up a ton of total yards. The Cincy-Pitt and Cardinal-Irish games were entertaining... but downright embarrassing for any football purist to watch.

Everyone knows that.

Well... but do they? I still think there are offensive-minded coaches at the college level who really don't get it. One would think that Paul Johnson, Bobby Petrino and Brian Kelly would have all made their defensive coordinator hires their biggest priorities. But they didn't. I wonder if there's a sense of arrogance or stubbornness that has them believing their genius offensive playcalling can overcome the inability to play sound defense.

If it's a battle between "the unstoppable force" and "the immovable object,"... I'll take the latter every time.

They are the oldest of football cliches but still hold very true; run the football thereby controlling the clock and tempo of the game and play good defense and you win nearly every time. Alabama last year is case in point, not the most prolific offense in the country but the best or very near in team defense and running the ball.

I don't know.. Being that it's @ ND, you already have one advantage. I think some of it will also depend on how both teams do the week before. We have UCONN, you guys are home against Purdue.. I think if UC beats us, (god forbid...) we'll come down there & possibly tank again.. If we get a win, I think we can keep the momentum & come down there & rack up some points!

Tressel, Pelini, Mack, Urban, and Nick know that, which is why they've all been a part of nat'l championship teams... and are the likeliest to be again.

May sound clichéd, but... defense wins championships.

Couldn't agree more. If Arkansas had a defense last year, we would have beaten Georgia, Florida**, and LSU. Those games were all lost in the fourth quarter by our inability to make a stop when it counted. I hope I don't have to re-live that frustration this year.

**and had refs that didn't enjoy phantom personal fouls

yeah, that UGA/ Arkansas game was nuts last year. i can't believe we won it. If someone had told me that Mallet would throw for 5 touchdowns and not win the game i would have called them a liar

I haven't fully developed my opinion on this yet, but because it's USC... it's funny as hell.

Yeah just read that on yahoo. They are just trying to maybe "get out earlier on good behavior". Or kissing @ss. Probably both. Too bad they won't give the "Bush Push" back. LOL

You know whats funny to me? Penn St fans. They are like WVU and UConn had a ****ty spoiled child. Trashy and WASPy all at once.
