That's always rough. 9.5hrs has been my sweet spot lately. If I get any less, I don't operate too well.

I know what you mean, but you have to look at it from a totally different perspective. It's all part of your necessary routine. To perform optimally, your body needs the proper recovery...you do want to perform optimally, right?! -

There's training, supplementation, diet, and REST/recovery. It's all part of the big picture.

Yeah, I know, I just wish I didn't need that much sleep, I know people who work well on MUCH less, I wonder how they do it (maybe they lie :lol:)

...or who knows? Maybe we would both decide to ditch the Scotch and then hit the gym for some insanely heavy squats and deadlifts.

And I would take your precious RPM!

Seriously, it was MILES away from a PR-breaking workout, I had no energy to push beyond a comfort zone, hell I was almost in discomfort Invalid Link Removed at warm-up weights.

I did :
* walking db lunges,
* squats on smith,
* front squats superset with deadlifts and
* leg ext superset with leg curls.

Maybe it was the shear volume of sets per exercise, I seriously don’t have a clue but I must have done something right ‘cause there was not a part on my legs and butt that was DOMS-free yesterday and today!

For the last couple of nights I managed to get just over 7hrs of UNINTERUPTED Invalid Link Removed (I slept like I was dead!), which is not ideal but nonetheless- a BIG IMPROVEMENT. Felt great today, so much that I spontaneously decided to do a HIIT session. :woohoo:
Did a sprint up a goat track on a hill. It is a popular recreational site so there are lots of people on the track late afternoon. Usually, if I get stuck behind someone I use it as an excuse to slow down. Not today, I was “politely yelling” at people to get out of my WAAAAY !!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Seriously, I superset compound movements quite regularly, as A SHCOK TO THE SYSTEM,
it is the best way to FORCE your body to break boundaries.

Only to catch up my breath, :lol: Breaking between a superset for any longer than that, defeats the purpose of it. You need to force yourself to keep going. Once you do it you'll be surprised in what you can achieve 'cause your body will be switched on for a battle against a higher level of torture. Invalid Link Removed

If you can be bothered to go back to DAY36 (page 6), you'll understand what I am talking about, I did a similar workout back then.

DAY 52

I realized only yesterday why have my workouts been crap for the whole week (apart from cardio).
I’ve been having problems with lower back stiffness, think my matrass is the culprit, gone too soft - ready to be dumped :dump:

I’ve been waking up every morning feeling like an 80- year old grumpy woman :rant: Back was so stiff I couldn’t even bend down to touch my toes.
Worst thing is that the stiffness was so bad it would hardly go away with any amount of stretching and warmup Invalid Link Removed
So when I did my leg workout starting with the smith machine 4 days ago it felt more like a spine-crushing than a leg-crushing workout. Invalid Link Removed
Because of that, I bailed out from doing powercleans&presses on DAY 51 :ntome:, and instead I did LOTS and LOTS of core workout and stretching. I also tried to sleep on the floor the following night, desperate for a firmer surface…didn’t quite work :sad:

And morning DAY 52 I woke up irritated (back was still stiff) but determined I was going to WORK IT OUT !!!!!!!!! :aargh::aargh::aargh:

I hit the gym half an hour earlier and did some SERIOUS stretching and ab work. Felt reasonable so I decided to do :

1. Deads superset with
2. Squats :D


It is the reverse of what I’ve done on DAY48, also, I did regular squats in place of front squats ‘cause I can lift more that way. …. And to spice things up, I did CHAINED DEADS, 11lb ON EACH SIDE :head:

1. 66lb + 22lb (chains) 10
2. 50lb 10

1. 94lb+22lb 8
2. 66lb 8

1. 110lb+22lb 8
2. 83lb 10​
* Still warming up (need to give my “recovered” back an illusion that it is not going to be a hard session, :lol:), felt damn EASY


1. 132lb+22lb 6
2. 100lb 8

1. 132lb+22lb 6
2. 121lb 8​

* squats still feel too EASY, crap I underestimated myself :confused:

* Following 3 sets, same weight:

1. 132lb+22lb 5/6/5

And no Adams, I did not throw up, takes a bit more than that :p

This is the first time “I saw a sideview of myself” doing squats, I always thought my knees were going past my toes, BUT THEY AREN’T!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I really wish I had access to chains and bands in my gym. I feel like I'm missing out from some excellent additions to my workout. I've always been interested in Westside Barbell routines, but I have never been able to incorporate them into my training because of the equipment required.

Workout looks great, DF! Glad to see your backs doing better. I know that can be frustrating.

Seriously, there was a guy in our gym (one of the very FEW serious ones) that would drag his own chains every time he trained. Until the gym manager bought some and then before you knew it, everyone was training with chains :thumbsup:

Not a bad idea. Perhaps when I change my program up again, I will do this and use some WB-style programs.
 
never tried squats and deads in the same superset. god, that sounds wretched. i do them the same training day for sure, because it really finishes my legs off. girl, you are hardcore.

Indeed, but it is that pleasure that goes with pain that makes me do it ! :aargh: :fool2:
On the other hand, my bis and tris suck because I neglect them. I guess doing dead+squat superset kind of routines 2wice a week is not a convincing argument to grow arms of steel :rofl:

Back is no longer giving me issues, I guess yesterday's shock therapy worked :D

SNAKE ATTACK !!!!

For those of you who have been following my log regularly, you may remember that a couple of weeks back (page 5, post #139), a snake ate my precious genetically engineered experimental mice. Well, the hungry monster has been on the hunt again, this time it didn’t eat my mice but it bit the facility manager who was trying to remove it ! With these:
