I'm taking today off and will make em up tomorrow. Tired from a long run today, I've begun training for the Marine Corps Marathon.
Hell yea, I've been running my ass off and dieting for my training. Is yours next month? My marathon is May 25th :) I've dropped 5 pounds in less then a week from all the running.

I've missed all this week, but on one of my training days this week I have pull ups in my workout so I'll do 200 then to catch up on this and on my 100 every other day workout :)

damn wish i would have seen this thread earlier. I love doing pullups. Keep up the good work fellas.
Well, stand by for my next challenge then. I haven't decided for sure, but it will probably be the same format, but with burpees.

Got my 32

Doing sets of 10 then doing the last couple really slow. I've been doing mostly pull-ups over hand grip, but mix it up occasionally. Tomorrow I am going to do them all chins.

Nope, but I like to travel.....Do I get extra points if I add weight to my pull ups?

5 sets of 10 on my lunch break with 15 pound on me
I think I am going to start doing a few sets here and there with my flak jacket on for the extra weight. It seems to be around the right amount of reps vs strength ratio for me. I won't be doing it later in the higher reps. After this is done I will be doing pull ups with real weights eventually working up to 45lbs.


I forgot, your in the LA area aren't you? You said you were going to run the LA marathon. I just moved from out there.

I may be out :(

i sliced the top of my finger open yesterday at work. can't grip anything without it hurting like hell. However it has healed alright over night but still sore. I'm catching up for yesterday today aswell :(

Don't give up man, you can do it, catch up, tape that bitch up, work through it, what doesn'y kill you makes you stronger, pain is weakness leaving the body or my fave... Be Hard When It's Hard!

you need to do a few other to make. we were 35 today. good thing is all you need to do is add 5 tomorrow. There was a post somewhere around 4-6 or so that someone listed what number was on what date.

hmmm..let me ask something

well i wanna do this also..even if i dont get counted on the participants..

just wanna ask something first, i have a history of right anterior shoulder dislocation..it happened 3 or 4 times and the last was a year ago..it affected my shoulder and my back as well but currently i go to gym to gain some strength for it..

do you guys think i am fit enough to do this challenge?..well i'll just go around light weights of course...

Do some shrugs......it helps shoulders.

As far as pullups.......thats for you to judge. Doing like 5000 in 100 days, try to take it slow, bud

Glad to have you join. Definitely keep strengthening the shoulders and don't be afraid to go light on the weights and work up slowly. Being someone with a shoulder injury in the past I know it sucks, but one needs to be careful with them. As far as pull ups go I would say you are fine to do them just follow a few key things and you should be good to go...

- Listen to your body, if your shoulder begins to hurt etc. you may need to ease up
- When doing pull ups don't just drop to the bottom of the movement and yank the joint
- When doing pull ups initiate the movements with the proper muscles and pull through properly. ie start with your lats, back then through the shoulders and into the arms. Proper form all the way through the movement will ensure each part of the body is being used appropriately and not diffusing too much stress on anyone singular part. Pull ups are are a compound movement.
- Switch methods and grips up - work it all
- Probably stay away from kipping pull ups because they do tend to yank a bit more on the shoulders when you swing/drop back down. I would think strict/dead hang would be best for you shoulder (but don't just hang completely limp at the end, you'll feel the difference if you try it.
- Don't be afraid to use the dip/pull up machine, bands, or a partner to help you out if needed.
- Continue to do shoulder exercises to strengthen your shoulders. Just go slow and easy. You don't want to hurt your shoulder again
- Again, listen to your body. If it say's things are good keep going, if getting painful, ease up.
- And have fun. Some of the guys and one gal in on this challenge may gripe every now and again particularly if the miss a day I know they all love it
