Hyde’s Strength Odyssey

Looking stronk! What are you planning for openers this coming meet? I see a 405 bench as a possible attempt yes?????

If I want to do at least 405 in comp, I have to take 185kg - 407.9lbs. That is definitely on the radar for this one.

Honestly, it’s all based off whatever I can lay down in the next 3 weeks during some testing.

Yeah man ART has been the most productive soft tissue therapy for me by far. Good to hear your guy is good too!

That extra booty helped push that PR…..serious though, 451, 501, 540, 575x1, then followed by a 440x5 PR on Pause Squats, now that’s truly “Beastmode”. Looks like you’re going to be breaking lifetime best all the way around at this meet.💪💪💪🏆

BRO!!! Yeah that was bro worthy! Congrats on the PR's!!!

Awesome session, and looking like a tank! Just Back Meat Everywhere!!! Then those ridiculous delts. Just a beast!

So I have to ask just to give everyone an idea. How big are your thighs right now? Probably 32-33 inches at least eh?

29 inches at the quad & 31” at top of hamstring right now.

Here’s the bottom of that 575 last night:

Damn 29 at the quads... just tree trunks! Bigger than the top of my hamstrings... Just unreal. Only a 2 inch difference from top of thighs to bottom means your quads / teardrops are officially insane. I can't imagine what those beasts will look like lean. However you are damn sure going to find out what they are capable of moving!!!

29-31 is more like the size of the waist on my jeans from high school to age 40. That’s legit mass dude!

Idk that Floorpress was a PR, but strength is definitely jumping up there. I also can tell a very good bit of mobility/ROM difference in my elbow after my second ART session yesterday. He undid so much garbage where my tricep ties into my lat, and my left rhomboid, now I can get things off of a shelf overhead just like my right hand. You don’t realize how awful things get when they creep up so slowly on you, until they’re fixed.

So happy for your ART experience. It is a game changer. When i try to put people on to it, they always think I am exaggerating how much improvement 1-2 sessions can make on something.

Idk if I mentioned it here but I signed up for the meet on October 8th - 5 weeks out tomorrow.

Tried 20mg of Trest Ace today. Thought it was going okay because I did it subq, but it’s finally hitting and my blood pressure this afternoon is 140/80 with pulse of 68 (using 80mg Telmisartan in the morning) & I feel like crap. I’m not going to be able to push Trest and may abandon it entirely. I am going to drive bigger mg on test & mast to try to push my benchpress over the line.

Week 17 of this blast will be:

600 test e, 500 mast e, 120 dhb

I also added Ralox at 50mg daily a few days ago. Will switch to Nolva when this old bottle runs out.

***EDITED***

I’m gonna get some of that Curcuprime from XPG for my freebie to see how it compares to Helios.

Lemme know for sure! I’m snagging some kanna-ease to experiment with for my random nightly relaxation sessions lol. And plenty of Creatine as well. I wanna be a strong boy again one day

Idk if I mentioned it here but I signed up for the meet on October 8th - 5 weeks out tomorrow.

Plan this week is to double the Trest Ace to 20mg daily & add 100mg Masteron. Pleased I was able to get 4 productive months under a gram in.

Week 17 of this blast will be:

300 test e, 500 mast e, 120 dhb, 140 trest a

LFG!!!!! Full power ya?

LFG!!!!! Full power ya?

Yep, full power!

Edited my post - I am not going to be able to push Trest up to 20mg, and may ditch it entirely. Seems like it hits my bp hard just like nandrolone. So I’m going to jack up test & mast.

Planned to do ~520 for a couple doubles today, but deadlift felt radically harder than it should have. Realized that benching 375 Tuesday and especially squatting 575 Wednesday took the wind out of the sails, so I dropped down to a little speed work & cut it. Trying to do my lat work in a deeper ROM on my left side than I’ve been able to in years, so really focused on extreme intent.

How that kabuki bar feel?

Meh, it’s okay. I don’t like that Kabuki intentionally made a bar to change the physics of the deadlift bar parameters that have basically been agreed upon for years. I realize it’s still within maximum spec, but it just muddies the waters & everyone was happy enough with the stiffbar in the IPF & deadlift bar size we had everywhere else. It’s substantially longer, and that advantage tends to favor the sumo puller. The knurling is pretty sharp.

Right pinkie grip felt a bit weak on 518 yesterday, so I broke out the grippers.

Warmed up & hit a couple good progressive sets on the GG2, then closed the GG3 for a max single hold each hand.

Crazy how much difference a touch of practice makes so fast!

Hyde, I have been silently following along for some time...just wanted you to know I appreciate the detail of your log. I'll echo what others always say, that you have a lot knowledge and wisdom. Keep pushing my friend!!

Lunch of champions there…and topping it off with a Monster, that should go a long ways on your calories and carb count. Finish off with some Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and that’s a well rounded meal.😎

It’s pretty cool seeing someone at this level steadily putting in PRs. It just goes to show when you do it the right way you will have continuous improvement and reach your goals.

You know, I was thinking about this…someone just casually following this thread recently might be inclined to think this is what it’s like usually. They wouldn’t have seen the last time I weighed this much was 12 months ago, the 40lb cut since then before regaining the weight, all the hypertrophy/volume/weak point training that was carried out to reinforce & improve my base so that finally now, heading back to the top of the pyramid, new heights can be reached.

It’s been a year in the making, and it feels damn good to finally see some ROI!

And we all know a foundation of rock is way stronger than a foundation of sand…..It just takes more patience, time, and effort to drill down into the core of that stone, but we are all witnesses to your year of hard work and the rewards it brings. To be honest the challenges I’ve seen you, Kleen and Rocket battle through has been motivation for me and the injuries I’ve battled myself old and new this year to keep pushing through.

Just touching the squat bar in prep for testing in a couple weeks. This would decidedly be a deload session, after deadlifts felt so heavy last Sunday and since I will be maxing out this Sunday. Squats moved well.

@Hyde watching you navigate your training is always a lesson in fluidity! Your understanding of your programming, and intent towards your goals at all times is just a great thing for all of us to see. You set a great example here by doing the damn work systematically to get the job done, and your pivots are always still in line with the main focus of improving yourself to reach your end goal.

@gphagan1 Thanks for including me on this, that is a very nice compliment to be included with these fine gentlemen that I see as great leaders on this board!!!

It’s not perfect/maximized training, by a long shot, and I won’t pretend that there aren’t plenty of times where I could have done more or better somehow - but this is what it is.

Like for example last night, it was wife’s turn for gymnastics with son this week, so I started training earlier. New kid at the barbell club, very strong, wants help on his deadlift. So I sunk time into helping him, but I still needed to be home by 8:30 for my son’s bedtime to tuck him in - because I said I would be to him. It was 8pm before I knew it, so I didn’t do as much accessory as I would have liked.

But the #1 thing to me was not missing that moment with my son, and also the goal of tonight was to practice/maintain qualities while not impacting my max deadlift coming up. I got to tuck my son in, and I am actually plenty sore today & had good squat practice, so mission accomplished.

You kept the proper thing in the right order, your family and son first, and even though helping that kid took time away, that good deed will return good back to you. And I bet you didn’t lose any ground whatsoever.😇

Agreed! Family First, and mentoring the up and coming crop of muscle ambassadors is always a good use of time. Sounds like you got in exactly what you needed and having a lil less of a recovery hole to dig out of isn't necessarily a bad thing.

ART yesterday was 4th session; getting some ROM back in my elbow and things are feeling better again. Took the renewed opportunity to practice my bench technique touching today (where I would recently get pain & do weird things like flare to avoid the flexion). PR strength on Floorpress lets me know things are heading in the right direction! Any lat, tricep & bicep work is being spent with extreme intent to train the most ROM/tightest flexion reasonable to restore some comfort/ability there.

Sounds like ART is really working great for you and quickly. My chiropractor does it, but only if you request it. I need to commit to doing it more often and consistent.

My chiro tried to do some myofascial release on me once, he was just way to ginger with it. I was thinking c'mon man dig or don't bother.
