Movies

I just got done watching London has Fallen. Not bad. I watched Washington has Fallen when it came out, and it was a good movie, just pissed me off.

I saw Suicide Squad this weekend and I for one enjoyed it. Granted I am a DC fan, I thought the movie was great

8/10

ONLY issue I had was they wanted to make it Guardians of the Galaxy with all of the random scenes with pop music added in and it just didn't work for me

Heard it cost like 152 mill to make the suicide squad movie and they haven't made it back in terms of ticket sales yet?

Box Office is already $500 Million....so they made them dollars back!!!!!!

I'm looking forward to Doctor Strange and Guardians 2(Mainly for Kurt Russell, I'm a huge fanboy), but I'm mostly looking forward to Doc Savage. I love the old pulps. Now, if only netflix would make a series for The Shadow.

I agree the Shadow was a GREAT idea for a movie concept.....Alex Baldwin just ruined it haha

Either going to see Suicide Squad tomorrow or next weekend.

I actually liked BvS in theatres (although, the extended cut is much better), so I'm pretty excited for the DC movies coming out.

I'm more of a DC guy than Marvel to start with though.

Have liked most of the Marvel movies that have come out recently, but really didn't care for Guardians at all. My wife actually fell asleep during that one.

Anyone else in here like the Thomas Jane Punisher film, or just me?

Yes! Honestly, that and the Christian Bale Batman films are my favorites of all the superhero films.

Batman Begins got me back into comics after about a ten year absence. I remember seeing the trailer for it at a theatre and didn't even know it was a Batman trailer til the end. Then saw it and immediately ordered some graphic novels I had lost through the years. Now I've got a healthy collection again and the trilogy is to thank for it

Thats how I was. It was strange at first. Felt like a live Call of Duty game. But after 20 or so minutes I got into it.
I remember one time I took a few hits of acid and was playing nazi zombies. After it kicked in I had the most messed up trip ever. It actually kind of sucked

Same.

The Dark Knight Trilogy were very good movies.

Although, I did like Affleck as Batman in the newest film and am really looking forward to the solo film.

Anyone seen sausage party yet?

I saw it, thought it was hilarious. I was not intoxicated in the theater and I'm not a Rogen fanboy. Good combination of smart and stupid humor.

Arrgh.

Then there is the Ben-Hur remake with leads who have the charisma of third/fourth bananas compared to Charlton Heston.

Apparently quite a few remakes in the works as well.

I think remakes are far worse than the super hero fad. I agree with you, getting out of hand. They're remaking splash for the love of god

I thought it was fantastic. Netflix's Punisher should be good too.. He was solid in Daredevil season 2

Yeah, I've always liked that movie.

Wish they would have made the sequel that Jane wanted to make.

I agree, Bernthal did a good job and I'm looking forward to seeing how he does in his own show.

Late to the party, but I watched Creed 2 nights ago. So good!

The score is perfect for the gym, too

i get the Ben-Her remake the original was 59' (talk about standing the test of time)... what I don't get is the movies like Splash or Memento (this one hurts), is it just lazy, or are there nothing original left? Even Star Trek didn't need to get remade, could have created a new cast and new story line.

They're remaking memento???? Why in the world?

i have respect for Robert Zemeckis,

Back in June, the Oscar-winning director told the UK Telegraph that in regards to rebooting the Back To The Future trilogy onscreen, “That can’t happen until both Bob (Gale) and I are dead. And then I’m sure they’ll do it, unless there’s a way our estates can stop it.”

Seriously. The remakes IMO are getting WAY TO OVERDONE! Space Jam being done soon with Lebron I heard. NO absolutely not.

My issue is it is hard to find an actor with the commanding presence of Charlton Heston or Lee Marvin or John Wayne. Mel Gibson pulled off a good tough guy in his Payback, which was a remake of a Lee Marvin film and in the later Get the Gringo, but he is getting on in years.

Then there is the source material. Plenty of good books, fiction and non-fiction as source material so why redo a classic. Especially Ben Hur when the latest sword and sandals films have flopped in the USA. Maybe they do well overseas.

There is a lot to be said of what has been posted about for a few years now- that it is difficult for Hollywood to find manly men to fill the lead roles. Me as a guy from the old school cannot believe the type which are being presented as leading man material. Ben Hur is an example as I see the two leads as being the type who normally would be third/fourth roles in a film not leads.

Ah, I sound like a grumpy old man. Not at all in real life.

Well it's pretty damn tough to compete with Heston. He had the most mainly voice of all time. Clint is in second place.

Get the Gringo with Mel was VERY well done. I get it, people HATE that dude now, but he can still act

I really wish they'd have made Lethal Weapon 5....now we're getting that terrible reboot of a TV show with Damon Wayans

I like the new Star Trek movies, but I was never a fan of the original movies or TV shows. But, I would agree with your point with regard to Star Wars. Episodes 4-6 were the only good ones so far. But those technically aren't remakes, they just suck.

Why do people hate him? Maybe all the Anti-Semitism rants, the recorded phone calls where he hoped his wife (at the time) would get raped because she wouldn't give him blowies, the DUI where he called the female cop "Sugar Tits"

The list goes on and on.

He's a great actor, but because of all of that he's blackballed

In fairness, I'd be mad if my wife didn't give me blowies either...of course I'm not married though.

I didn't know about anything other than a couple racial slurs, but even those I took with a grain of salt. I didn't personally hear it. Now the wife thing, not cool. Are all these accounts though of when he was drunk? He's also an alcoholic right?

I think he was drunk off his ass, and she had promised him mouth hugs, so then he went on this HUGE rant (that she recorded) about how he was gonna drop her off in the hood and let a bunch of black guys run a train on her
