Movies

He's acted since then and I don't think anybody is stopping him. I think he just prefers directing these days.

I am talking BIG BUDGET roles man, not something that plays in a theatre for a week or goes straight on demand

That is Nick Cage's thing lol

I saw The Shallows yesterday. Surprisingly good film. Also, Labyrinth of Lies. Excellent film.

Not a single comic book figure in sight for either.

I'm into documentaries as well so I would have to say two of the great documentaries I have just watched would be:

Darkstar: H.R. Giger

I'm a big fan of H.R. Giger; his art and life. This is a must see movie to gain a better understanding of the great art and emotions connected to what it was and how we see it in the movie Alien. His brilliance is more appreciated.

The life and times: Frida Kahlo

I just visited the Salvador Dali museum where she was also on exhibition and how one cannot fall in love with her, and her art is impossible to consider. Both artists were amazing. I loved her documentary

Dreams of Dalí: 360º

I was able to experience this with a VR Headset on, at the Dali Museum.

Documentaries?
Victory at Sea
World at War
Civilisation with Kenneth Clark
Fog of War
Shoah
WW2 in HD by the History Channel
Vietnam in HD by NatGeo
Ken Burns has directed a few: Prohibition, The Civil War, The West, The War,
The Men Who Built America
Great War (BBC 1961)
PBS funded a number of excellent ones in their American Experience Series. Too many to list.
There was an excellent multi-part documentary on Auschwitz

Forgot to add another favorite:
In Search of the Trojan War, Michael Wood
I think it is on Youtube.

Oh, yeah PBS has some wonderful documentaries, and I have seen all of those offered on Netflix as well.
Those about the concentration camps was quite moving.

I am looking forward to the following movies:

  • Alien Covenant
  • Guardians of the Galaxy 2
  • John Wick 2
  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi
  • Blade Runner 2049
  • Wonder Woman (My wife...)
  • Justice League
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
  • Dark Tower (Read this book when I was a kid)
  • The Mummy

I'm sure I missed a few, and I will most likely wait for them to come out on DVD.
I work too much.

No, I'm still waiting on some more reviews from people, and John Wick 2 and Logan are definitely ahead on my list of movies to see.

I've read about 100,000,000 positive reviews from Facebook friends. Odd to me that everyone raves about it

I'm wanting to see Logan, but I'll probably watch the other X Men movies fire because I have only seen First Class.

My girlfriend wants to see Split.

I heard A Dogs Purpose is good, but I refuse to watch a movie about animals that I know is going to be sad.

Interesting. My only concern is if it's going to try to be too political, race related, preachy, etc. It may not be at all, but I'm waiting for some people I know to let me know what they think.

going to watch 'momento' for around the 10th time.

I have a pretty diverse group of folks on fb - from both sides of political spectrum - and both enjoyed it. Said it was a creepy, well done thriller. I'm not big on horror movies but I love thrillers.

I wish I could see 300 for the first time again.....yes, I know it's old....and Fight Club for the first time again....totally blew my mind...haha

the 1st terminator...the 1st rocky...the 1st vacation....too damned many, lol.
