I think he was drunk off his ass, and she had promised him mouth hugs, so then he went on this HUGE rant (that she recorded) about how he was gonna drop her off in the hood and let a bunch of black guys run a train on her

Good Lort lol

Arrgh.. just saw a trailer for another Marvel Comics film. Something Civil War.

Why the popularity of superheroes dressed in costumes with a bit of schtick?

I know we had corny stuff in the form of Arnold, Segal, Van Damme, but at least it was not usually too over the top. Sometimes. These guys with tights, masks, etc. is weird. It was bad enough when Fast & Furious went from drag racing thieves to world class infiltration team status.

Not usually too over the top?!?! Those movies were all way over the top and that is why they were fun. Hell, Stallone literally made a movie called Over The Top

Are you pretending that the superheroes are modern inventions?

The comics came out in the 1940s, and they've been making film adaptations since the 60's.

I hope you stop pretending they were as produced as often in the short term as we have had to bear with the previous few years.

Then there is the demographics of comic book readers in the 1940s vs. today. Grown men watching films based on comic books? How incredibly childish.

All the **** going on in the world and this is what you think we have to "bear"? Seems like there is a simple solution to your problem.

talking about films and the declension in quality. If you want to talk high politics or economics or social affairs start a new thread.

Pulp Fiction
The Departed
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Swedish version, but American one was good too)
Kill Bill 1&2
Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill are over 10 years. I was in high school when Pulp Fiction came out, and my 20 year reunion is next year.

God I'm old

I know, but they are two of the best films ever made lol

I will try to replace them on the list with something newer.

I would have to go with Inglourious Basterds and Burn after Reading then

I couldn't think of much. First ones in my mind were Pulp Fiction and Blow lol. The last 10 years, must have sucked.

Exactly what I have been saying. My first thought was Old Country and Get the Gringo. Had to do a Google search of films by year and scroll through to find one more that I really liked to fill out #3.

Most of the outstanding films I could recall are pre-2007.

2007-2016
No Country for Old Men 2007
Get the Gringo 2012
American Hustle 2014

Honorable mention:
John Wick
Limits of Control
Valhalla Rising

No Country for Old Men and American Hustle were really well done. Javier Bardem was freakishly perfect in that role.

I CANNOT wait for John Wick 2

Keanu is one of my favorite actors (Point Break is my top movie of almost ALL time) and I really think he found a new career in this shoot em up action flicks

I like unpredictable type of films or if predictable to provide INTENSITY.

Did you like Fargo? I know it's another older film, but I loved it. Lots of unpredictability and the Cohen brothers are some of the best writer/directors out their IMO.

Yessir.
Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, O'Brother Where art tho(I even bought the sound track), Big Lebowski, etc.

Miller's Crossing is one of my top twenty of any period.

Some of their recent films not to my taste-Ladykillers for example I find unwatchable, the original British B&W version is clever with very dry humor. They missed it in the remake. Tom Hanks is awful in it. Trying too hard to be the like the British actor in the original.

Inglourious Basterds was the last good Tarantino film IMO.

I recommend Siege of Jadotville. Mercs vs Irish in the Congo in 1961. Fair amount of historical accuracy.

My son just mentioned this movie to me about an hour ago..

So, it's a rental like most other movies. I find it difficult to justify the price of going out to a movie, and the time so me and my best friend (wife) usually rent something on iTunes since we are so behind the times. Ha.

Me and my fiance loves the movies so we go every saturday if there is something we want to see. And saturday is also our refeeds so we can pig out on protein bars while relaxing. Next saturday is Dr Strange and I really hope its good.

Saw the accountant and thought it was amazing. May be biased as I work with autistic people for a living and thought they did great job portraying him as a kid

Going to see Doctor Strange tonight, anyone seen it yet? I've seen some good reviews so I have high hopes.

He is amazing in everything he does. That's on our list for sure.

Watch Sherlock after. The first 3 seasons are on Netflix.

Just got back home from it and it was awesome. A must see for any Marvel fans but it is also a strong stand alone film.

Cumberbatch is always great and he was a great Sorcerer Supreme.

Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! I am a huge Cumberbatch fan

Recommend Hacksaw Ridge, based on MoH receipient Desmond Doss who rescued 75 wounded men while under fire on Okinawa!!!
Directed by Mel Gibson as well. Doss was also a conscientious objector who served as a medic. Should be interesting to watch..

I REALLY wish they'd let Mel Gibson do something in acting again, but alas I feel he will be a director only.

That's what he gets for going on a drunken stupor. I just want Lethal Weapon 5

He was great in Expendables 3 and I agree with you, let's see another Lethal Weapon!

He's acted since then and I don't think anybody is stopping him. I think he just prefers directing these days.
