Xtend vs Purple Wraath

Hey all, kicking around the idea of introducing an intra workout amino acid drink into my routine. Just something to make fasted training sessions a little more enjoyable. I've narrowed it down to these two products (both of which I've used in the past).

What are your thoughts on a BCAA(with a 2:1:1 ratio) product Vs. an EAA product (with other goodies in it) for intra workout purposes. The labels are as follows:

Xtend

I've tried both. The people wraath was a great source of energy.

Btw, you're crazy for training fasted - but at least you're getting yourself an intra workout. :)

Thanks for the input brother. And the fasted training gets easier with time. Woke up this morning hungry, but after a few black iced coffees the cravings are gone and time to hit the gym.

Sure buddy, whatever I can do to help. I'm newly registered at AM (exist at other places) but a very long time reader, happy to be a part of the community

And I love coffee... Got it right now... Mmm

That is the wrong label for xtend.

this is the correct label

If you wanted an upgraded form of Xtend look into Xtend Perform with added Peak02 for performance and endurance.
It is quickly becoming a staple for a lot of Anabolic Mind users. we have had countless logs with nothing but positive feedback.

Personally you can not go wrong with either product. Both are great. I would consider giving each a whirl and comparing what works best for you!

If you venture into the company promotion section we currently have a promo going on where you could win a tub to log your honest feedback.

I have used both products, XTEND EASILY wins on taste over purrple wraath. both products are very good but a tad different...

I've actually been taking this every now and then(been stealing servings from my brother) but thinking about switching it up. I will say I enjoy the green apple flavor. Reminds me of green/sour apple candy from childhood.

Oh yeah, their flavoring is always excellent IMO.

Neveer tried extend but have heard good things about flavoring. Enjoyed the feels from wraith. Either way you choose to go I think you should be covered.

Both are good, try them both and see which one you prefer. I like the addition of TMG in Purple Wraath, but you're not getting the full amount with a single scoop. Purple Wraath also contains EAA. From what I can recall, EAA are perferred over BCAA when cutting or bulking. I forget exactly, but you can Google it.

Also, the label you posted for Xtend is not the "wrong" label. Plenty of retailers sell that version. The one The Solution posted is the updated version and is overall better. Do not think if a retailer is selling the version with the label you posted is selling the wrong product.

Both very good products. I'd also check out Xtend Perform which I still need to get my hands on. Have heard great things about that, especially the Peak02

Both are excellent and you can't go wrong with either and I LOVE X-TEND Lemon Lime and Mango Nectar both
received 10's from me on taste when I reviewed them and Purple Wraath Cotton Candy is the flavor to try it's
uniquely delicious..

The Perform version has got my interest and theinclusion cordyceps mushroom extract seems like a great idea. I've taken a mushroom blend supplement in the past and enjoyed it.

The feedback has been spectacular especially on the performance and endurance front. Like myself I train fasted upon waking. Some people do not train well in that state, some people adapt and find their best training in a fasted state. The addition of PEAK02 will only benefit you and here is what some of AM had to say:

But the strongest and most significant benefit of Peak02 I felt from all my sparring sessions, is the aerobic increase. I felt my breathing pattern was usually on point, hardly breathing heavily most of the time and I could go for multiple rounds, due to the recovery time in between rounds. Definitely suits for those long training sessions

Endurance: THROUGH. THE. ROOF. I am 33 and I don't think I've ever felt this good when it comes to cardiovascular endurance. I can exert myself harder, for longer. My heart rate is lower than normal, and I catch my breath much faster.

Strength: While I have not noticed any major, acute strength bumps, I am very happy that I haven't lost any strength in such a strong deficit. I have made strength gains in deficits before, but I've never cut this hard/fast, so it's hard to say, but I'm fairly certain Xtend Perform is helping.

What I have experienced with Xtend Perform is improved endurance in general for workouts, I can go much longer and have a general longer "burst" of energy to use during the workout. Im able to really push my muscles to further limits before failure and this has allowed me to focus on working targeted muscles better (better mind muscle connection). I have also noticed there is a difference in recovery, from set to set and day to day im feeling more refreshed this has helped to have longer more intense workouts and hitting muscle groups multiple times per week.

Between the two, it's kind of a toss-up. I generally prefer EAA to strictly BCAA and I believe there is data supporting this. HOWEVER, if the choice includes Xtend Perform, then I'd go with Perform hands down. PeakO2 has been treating me very nicely.

I thought I remembered something along these lines. I did not write the post in the quotes, I simply found it on another forum. It was written by a member on here. Just some food for thought.

WHY EAA's more important than BCAA intra-workout:
but EAAs may impart some endurance-like effects that BCAAs simply cannot.

This is the only study done in trained humans consuming EAAs during the workout. These are legit, military-trained personnel doing both resistance and endurance work.

The findings?

"In summary, consumption of a 10-g dose of EAA enriched with leucine during moderate endurance-type exercise stimulated increased MPS when compared with an isonitrogenous EAA supplement with an amino acid profile consistent with high-quality proteins. These data indicate that increasing leucine availability during steady state exercise promotes skeletal muscle protein anabolism and spares endogenous protein."

Cliffs:

These EAAs increased postworkout MPS by 33% when consumed during exercise
The drink with the highest leucine content spared muscle to the greatest degree

BCAA's dosed post-workout for the most part are not necessary, you would be better off using them as a pre-workout for fasted training or dosed as a bolus between meals spaced 4-6 hours apart via Layne Norton's research.

It's a shame EAA intra powders aren't as easy to come by. It seems like every company these days has a BCAA supplement.

Unfortunately I was away from my computer a decent amount this summer, so Ive missed a couple opportunities to chime in on these threads. The feedback people have been giving about perform is 110% real. Ive used samples of purple wraath, and used products similar to it in the past, and I can safely say perform is the best intraworkout product ive used mainly due to the whole addition of peak 02. Itll keep you goin harder for longer, and if you check out the log i did theres some actual increase in my v02 max over time, which is highly beneficial for any athlete, especially if youre doing any kind of high intensity endurance training. If it were me i know what id choose but hey thats why supps are fun you get to see what works well for you

It compared EAAs to EAAs, but one had a higher leucine content.

Don't know if that tells us much we don't already know - Leucine triggers MPS up to a certain point. Also MPS in isolation doesn't paint a complete picture - without substrate, you can trigger it all day long and get nowhere. It's like a foreman on a job, it can pass the orders around, but if there is no materials to build with, nothing is going to get done :D

Grab a sample of Purple Wraath in the Controlled Labs section if you want man. Both are popular products. At least you can grab a sample for you to decide!

Okay so I've actually went ahead and picked up Endur3+. I didn't even realize this was an EAA product until I looked at the label. What put it over the edge is the inclusion of a carb source. I've been training on am empty stomach so it'll be interesting to see how this stuff treats me.

you could always buy intra-md if that was the case. (since you never stated you wanted a carb based powder)
Or just add your own (Waxy Maize, HBCD, Dextrose, Malto etc) which could be cheaper per serving for future reference. to the products suggested in here

I wasn't necessarily planning in having a carb source in my intra but the whole Carb10 thing caught my eye. Maltodextrin and the others usually mess up my stomach and I'd prefer to stay away from those. Next on the list is definitely Xtend Perform because I'm a sucker for black cherry flavor and there is some good data behind Cordyceps.

Have you ever tried Waxy Maize or HBCD? HBCD seems to settle very easy for most, and what John meadows does use in his Intra-MD. Which by the way is a fantastic product, no artificial colors or sweeteners in it as well. So that will help with any bloating or stomach issues from other products you may have.

Xtend Perform + HBCD is a killer 1-2 combo. A lot of people use Glycofuse + Xtend Perform and find it very effective.
