Putting Progress Pics on Facebook

Member
I have lost about 50 lbs over the last year and gained some muscle, and I took some before and after pictures, which I thought about posting on facebook. I know I've heard some people say that they think it's kind of douchey to post stuff like this on facebook. I'm just wondering if others here post their progress, before and after photos, etc. on social media sites like facebook?

Ill post progress pictures on facebook. This is the lifestyle i live and i have a lot of friends on facebook that share this same lifestyle.

I post pics every now and then. If it is that big of a deal to some people then delete them off facebook haha.

if there is anyone on your facebook that would think it was "douche baggery" then ------> unfriend!

i don't....i used to take pictures of myself, for my own records....but i don't even do that anymore, don't really feel a need...but if u do have before and afters u want to post...theres a good app for u phone that will block the pictures together for u

They'd probably feel that way because they're too lazy sitting on their asses doing nothing but complaining about their own physically-related shortcomings. Ignore it.

I think people think it looks douchey because it comes off as a "look at me" type of pic. Also to other men it can seem kind of ***gy. Why does everyone need to see pictures of you with your shirt off anyway? I mean for me, its about what I think about myself. I could care less about others opinions and I'm certainly not the type of guy that craves compliments and attention. I mean I might post a pic or two after a cut (not a bulk lol) but when I did that I realized how queer I look posing in the mirror so I took it down lol

Thanks for the feedback/opinions! Basically none of my friends share my interest in fitness, but no one has been critical of me for losing fat and working out. I had thought about posting this before/after picture just to share the progress I've made over the last year: about 50 lbs of fat lost and a bit of muscle gained. I just felt like I looked a bit odd taking a pic in the mirror. Lol

Agreed. Also, you found some crazy places to hide that 50lbs. I know when I lost 50lbs I looked like a stick. Then again my history in the fitness world is very brief so far.

I lost this fat at an extremely slow pace over the last year. With the exception of the first 3-4 weeks, I never really lost more than a pound or so each week. I tried not to eat too far below maintenance in order to preserve muscle. I'm hoping I can bring in the 6-pack for the first time in my life within the next two months.

thats impressive man! good work

Guess I was the only negative Nancy here sorry guys. Not trying to put a damper on OPs hard work. He did do a great job and showing others is by no means a bad thing

I think there is a difference between someone who posts a huge transformation pic and someone who CONSTANTLY posts pictures of themselves "working out." With that said I can understand someone who is legitimately aspiring to be a bodybuilder posting pictures.

Like tom here posting pictures of himself allll the time dressed up like john madden.... lol

First off, excellent progress! If you're thinking of posting them, you should. In my opinion it wouldn't be douchey. Maybe it will inspire some of your friends that wouldn't normally make the effort to lift.

The douchey Facebook pics are the ones where someone says "Hey, take a look at my new shoes" and they're shirtless flexing their abs while pointing at their shoes.

That's what I was going to say, your fine posting progress pics, and by the way, AWESOME progress! It's the ppl that post new pics of themselves EVERY SINGLE DAY that look like d*uche's and it's not always fitness ppl either. I have a girl on my page that posts new self pics of her and her litlle 6 yr old son EVERYDAY, like 3-4 a day and it's kind of creepy.

Jxn- I can already see your abs coming in a bit!!

Thanks for the feedback! It is good to actually see for the first time that there are abs that have been hiding underneath all of the fat. I have never done any kind of body fat testing, but I'm wondering what my % is at this point. My best guess would be 18-20%, but this is just based on relative comparisons. Just wondering if anyone could offer a more accurate estimate?

Great job man, that's a huge difference, keep it up!

Be proud of your gains and of your progress! You don't do this for their satisfaction, you do it for your own. So why worry about their opinions!? Post away my friend, post away!!

Wow amazing work man. Post that ****. You look like maybe 16? percent bf. Your friends should be proud. Its not douchey if its real progress and not some stick figure that happens to have abs wearing a hat that says swag on it as they make some stupid ass face for the picture.
Nothing douchey about being proud of that kind of work. Once again, amazing work.

Edit: posted on a revived post. Hope he still got the message haha.
