White Rice during cutting

Hello,
I've always heard bad things about having white rice during a cut because of the glycemic index level. So my question is, if I have protein and fat with my white rice meals, doesn't that cancel out the insulin spike everyone worries about with white rice? White rice is brown rice without the bran and germ layer where the phytic acid (storage form of phosphorous in plants) is stored. Phytic acid is an anti nutrient as it inhibits the absorption of many minerals and can lead to deficiencies which can cause a laundry list of issues. Conventional wisdom says brown rice is better for losing weight as it has a lower glycemic index, however glycemic index is not as big of a deal people make out of it for non diabetics (post workout you still want high Glycemic index carbs). If you eat 100g of carbs from brown rice and 100g of carbs from white rice (both w/ fat and protein) it will make little difference in terms of fat loss, but in terms of health white rice is better. Fat and carbs slow the absorption of carbs. Any feedback would be appreciated. thanks

Brown rice is freaking gross to me. When I eat rice, it's usually either Basmati or Jasmine.

All that fiber is what contributes to gastrointestinal disease and malabsorbtion of nutrients due to destruction of the villi. I'd stick with the basmati plus its delicious

from personal experience, i have yet to notice a huge differenc in the high/low gi category when it comes to carbs...i only notice a difference when it affects the overall calorie outcome..

Is that the fiber or the grain seed itself? I think there is a difference according to paleo.

lol..

Jasmine rice you say? Hmmm

Do these forms offer any benefits over traditional white rice?

Not from a nutritional perspective, but they taste much better.

K, just just wondering if I was missing out on something.

I used to buy only basmati rice but now I just stick with plain white rice (more cost efficient) and once in a while some quiona

I have had my best gains ever from cutting with white rice, I think too many things are studied way too far in depth. I also cut eating chicken thighs and legs rather than breasts. I think the reason is that I am actually satisfied at the end of a meal, then there is no need to dive into a bag of chips or crap like that.

I grew up on Jasmine rice. Basically thought that was the only kind of white rice for the longest time. MMMM going to have some this weekend.

For me and my body rice is a no no on a cut along with mostly any other grains just chicken and vegtables

For those who hate brown, use 1-2tbl olive oil a and vegetta in rice cooker, or just some brown sugar 1-2tbl spoons

White rice falls more in simple carbs catagory If ur sensitive to carbs like me, brown and dense is the way Togo I personally love BR

No, it does not. There are some micronutrient differences and a little more fiber to brown rice, but, other than that, there isn't much else.

So adding two table spoons of sugar is better? Lol

I am about as Carb intolerant as one can be and it makes no/negligible difference. Its the amount that is important.

Like Rodja touched on there are some small differences that really don't concern me.

If you like, and prefer brown by all means eat it. I'll be eating my jasmine rice.lol

I've always been bloated alot from white rice, the brown sugar thing I never used my buddy dose. Imo I think its a huge difference.

I have always eaten white rice. Being half Japanese my family pretty much ate rice throughout the generations.
On cuts I tend to take it out as I have a very hard time controlling myself lol.
But brown rice... kills me. I pass it whole and usually cuts me up inside (Well that's what I figure as I bleed from the bottom whenever I eat brown rice). Also, I notice my joints get really painful....
Could be related to the unprocessed lectins that grains tend to carry. White rice being husk/bran-less would mean that it is basically pure glucose when digested. Similar to how potatoes are mostly just starch once you remove the skin (Where most of the potatoes' lectin are)

Different cultures handle different foods, I belive that you bring of Asian decent you have much easier time with rice than me
