Volcom's Anabeta, Adamantium, Division I, Titanium XL, Erase Log

It's the San Jose card. Details on it are still being worked out and it hasn't been announced whether or not this is the co or main event.

That fight is inherently full of interest for the MMA fan. Particulalry for the "old schoolers." It'd be over the top awesome if they got the psycho chick announcer to bring those two out.

I haven't done flat presses for about two weeks and I don't know if that is what has made an impact on todays performance, I have worked chest, but with a primary focus on incline pressing movements. Today, I focused on the flat and wow, it made me feel good. The weight felt as it should, heavy, but not insurmountable.

160lbs x 8 reps
175lbs x 6 reps

After the gym I drove to my old neighborhood where I know there is an isolated uphill street that's about 80-100 yards uphill and rather steep. This is where I did my cardio.

Uphill HIIT x 10 sprints.

I was physically tapped out at sprint number 4, the rest was me saying, "just one more... just one more." Your legs will go numb quick sprinting uphill. I think I brought this up before, but my workout partner plays football and he wants to start doing Speed & Agility drills HIIT style on the weekends at the nearest college football field, so I've been doing HIIT on the treadmill (inconsistently) in preparation and today I had to take it to the next level and actually move my body on ground. I don't want to be a cardio-bitch during our weekend S&A HIIT, so I'm trying to hammer out some ugly forms of HIIT on my own to build up my tolerance for pain this weekend.

Mean workout!! And nice with those sprint!!!

Workout looks amazing, such impressive strength Volcom, keep up the good work, your a machine!!!

Thanks. I'm really glad to be on this stack at this point. Strength is a primary focus at the moment and I'm really happy with the progress. Makes me wish I could stay on this stack.

I'm out of the Adamantium.
I'm into the second bottle of Anabeta and Erase.
About half way through the Division I and Titanium XL

The longer the fight goes, the better Rampage's chances are to win. If, and this is a huge if, Rampage can keep it competitive through the 1st, then we'll see how Jones reacts to being drug into an actual fight instead of just a lop-sided beatdown.

The smartest strategy for Jones would be to use his length and, most importantly, his leg kicks so Rampage can't get his feet set.

You feel conditioning favors Rampage? My biggest fear for Rampage is getting out-wrestled and elbow GnP'd.

More so experience in a deep waters fight that is very close. The thing that Jones still has to prove is that he can both take a shot and maintain his confidence in the event that Rampage can stifle his attack.

If I saw these two guys on the street and you asked me who would win in a fight. I'd laugh if you picked JBJ over Rampage. Some fighters are so unassuming. I'd also laugh if you told me a guy who looked like Fedor was be MMA's baddest mofo of all time or Andy Silva had KO power like a beast.

For some reason, I think JBJ is susceptible to a mental breakdown if he gets hit right on the button. Of course I have nothing to base this on as far as sourcing octagon experience, but something about his personality makes me think this.

Not to mention Rampage has the best counter left hook in the division. Super athletes tend go one of two directions: into the toilet (e.g. Gonzaga, Vitor) or overcome the situation through guile (e.g. Anderson).

When JBJ said he wanted to be a cop and Quinton was like, "I believe it, you likes spies, detectives..." lol.

aha ya that cracked me up, I was shocked with how much they were picking at eachother, I bet when they went back stage they wanted to rip eachothers heads off lol

I'm really liking the steady progression of strength from week to week I'm experiencing at this point. I feel full, but not too bloaty and I'm feeling strong in the gym.

I went for the full blown off the ground, into full drop-squat Snatch today. The mechanics & timing was certainly different and more difficult then dropping from a hang, but nailing a good Snatch is very satisfying (that was a loaded statememt).

Olympic Snatch
95lbs x 5 reps
95lbs x 5 reps
105lbs x 3 reps
115lbs x fail
115lbs x 1 rep
115lbs x 1 rep
115lbs x 3 reps

Hang Cleans
135lbs x 5 reps
185lbs x 5 reps
195lbs x 3 reps
205lbs x 1 rep

Seated Db Presses
45lbs Db's x 10 reps
50lbs Db's x 10 reps
55lbs Db's x 10 reps
65lbs Db's x 8 reps
65lbs Db's x 6 reps

Standing, One Arm Db Press
30lbs Db's x 10 reps, each arm
40lbs Db's x 8 reps, each arm
40lbs Db's x 8 reps, each arm

Machine, Behind The Neck Shoulder Press
100lbs x 10 reps
130lbs x 8 reps
130lbs x 6 reps

Cardio: 2.2 mile circle around the gym.

I feel burnt. I haven't taken a single rest day since last Monday, but I've been loving the gym more then usual lately and it's been hard for me to commit myself to a real rest day, but I really ought to before things really go downhill.

And so was that... EWWWWWW!

Great workouts love that you are sprinting and wish I had been able to follow along instead of catching up again. The already removed all the youtube vids you all had posted...

Really? That sucks. The sprints kick me arse, they always have. I think I'm going to vary between short 1-3 mile runs and sprints.

Hang clean is sick!!

Vitor is out vs Cung Le. His replacement, this guy:

How do you see that fight going down Rodja?

I almost think Cung Le style is going ot be wandys kryptonite, all tho could be Vise Versa, I dont' think Cung has fought anyone quite aggressive as this guy.

Anyone see the countdown last night?

Who is everyone going for? Rampage or Jones?

I think Wandy will fair well. Cung Le is very point strike and I don't know how well he is at countering. Wandy's flurry style combined with his chin at this point, is very susceptible to someone who can counter punch well as far as precise timing or someone who can counter-flurry. I really, REALLY hope Wandy takes this one, he needs a win.

I'll go check out the countdown and I'm rooting for Rampage with all my heart, but I'm favoring JBJ to win.

I'd have to watch some more tape on Cung Le. His best win is still against Scott Smith and he's had another long layoff. If a prime Mirko's body kicks didn't cripple Wand, then I doubt the wheel/spinning kicks will drop him. I'll be interested to see what the gameplan is for this fight, though.

LEGS, FLEXIBILITY, GRIP STRENGTH

I intended on doing some basic leg workouts today, but something cool happened and I went with it. Ever since I've legitimized my Snatch, by performing the catch at a full hams to calves drop-squat, I really wanted legitimize my Cleans. However, being that use wraps on my Cleans, I couldn't release the bar so I can catch it at the proper spot, high up on my delts, I said eff it today and went for it and to my utter surprise, I had the wrist/shoulder flexibility to catch the bar in the G-spot on the delts for the Cleans. Out of enthusiasm, I opened my legs day with full hams to calves Cleans.

Hang Cleans with HTC front squats
95lbs x 5 reps
115lbs x 5 reps
135lbs x 5 reps
135lbs x 5 reps
135lbs x 5 reps
135lbs x 5 reps
*I kept the Cleans relatively light because it's my first time "repping" them hams to calves and because I wasn't sure what my raw grip could handle*

Hang Snatch into HTC catch
*I did this with the intention of strengthening my raw grip, I'm going to hopefully ditch my wraps altogether on my O-lifts*
95lbs x 5 reps
95lbs x 5 reps
95lbs x 5 reps
95lbs x 5 reps

Front Squats - Clean Grip *flexibility all came together today, now skies the limit*
135lbs x 10 reps
155lbs x 5 reps
185lbs x 3 reps
185lbs x 3 reps
185lbs x 3 reps
185lbs x 3 reps

Overhead Squats
95lbs x 3 reps
95lbs x 3 reps
95lbs x 3 reps
95lbs x 3 reps

GRIP STRENGTH
Barbell Reverse Curls
45lbs x 10 reps
65lbs x 8 reps
95lbs x 6 reps
95lbs x 6 reps
95lbs x 5 reps

Rear Barbell Wrist Curls
135lbs x 10 reps
135lbs x 10 reps
135lbs x 10 reps

Db Hammer Curls
35lbs Db's x 10 reps
40lbs Db's x 10 reps
45lbs Db's x 10 reps
50lbs Db's x 8 reps
55lbs Db's x 6 reps
60lbs Db's x 6 reps

I did everything raw grip for my Oly lifts and performed some extensors/flexors/brachioradialus exercises for the forearms. They're not really crush/pinch grip work, but it's the best I can do here. I considered doing some raw grip rack deads just for the grip, but I was worn out at this point.

I love the workouts, such hardcore session, great job Volcom! Your logs are always awesome to follow.

I realize this isn't really the crowd to relate with or get co-enthused about Oly lifts. I never was until I started doing them and then that passion fizzled as I'd hit an unbreakable wall due to my limited technique, but now that I've legitimized my technique, I'm reinvigorated. It's also caused me to fall in love with squatting, as squatting is the foundation to an Oly-lift. I've always hated squats, so this is a new passion as well.

I know what you mean. I now look at the oly lifts as like the dream lol. I wanna generate as much force as possible in all those lifts. Wish I could do front squats. My shoulder and elbow just don't bend that far. Everyday been trying to stretch um but it still is too stiff lol.

Great job on catching the cleans!!!

Thanks man. Are you holding the bar at the catch position with a full grip? Some people can pull that off, I can't. I just have three fingers bent back touching the bar once I'm in the catch, that's the only way I can hit the position that high up on the delts.

Yea I'm the same. But I don't like "not supporting" the bar with my arms. You know? Like I like to hold it in the caught position. Not good, not correct. But I fear smashing something or breaking my wrists doing it the right way...

If you were local I'd offer to help you out, but I don't plan on going to Japan anytime soon.

I Love Squats! Oly lifts are okay, I focus on going light and do lots of reps and good form, i always end up donig these with a good kettel bell workout after a night of drinking.

Hows libido by the way? haha through the roof? Will you be adding anabeta to a PCT at all in the future? I vote next time you do a big PH/DS cycle and log it.
