So we should all cater to our least denominator?
I guess so.
So we should all cater to our least denominator?

So a company is supposed to be morally obligated to those not smart enough or too lazy to research because...?????
Admin said:Thats your interpretation...I think anyone with an ounce of common sense knows its not real HCG. You would have to be a real idiot....if you see HCG in the title and recognize it, you already know what HCG is anyway...therefore you know its NOT the real stuff. How stupid would you be if you knew what HCG was then thought THAT was real HCG....
Ask RPN.
Checkmate.
That's not entirely true... I would say the majority of people looking for weight loss products are unaware that it isn't real hcg. I have ran into countless people who tell me theyre taking hcg and when I tell them its not hcg they look like I just killed their puppy. How much of the population do you think is smart enough or not too lazy and fat to research before they buy??? Honestly? You know as well as I do that we are the minority (people who read before they buy).
Bottom line its pretty misleading. Who asked me? No one. I'm just saying.
Refresh me please.....before you checkmate on an arguement that is opinion anyway...
I would surely hope you would know the back story on a former site sponsor (that is no longer around anymore). If you missed that story (and the lawsuit), I would refer you to google (just like these reps are doing about their products).
Quick summary: Customer didn't research, acquired liver failure, sued RPN, no more RPN.
Sorry, I don't remember every detail about every company. Maybe you can PM Matt and ask him to comment and see if he agrees with your summary.
Please refresh on how this applies to this so I know how you checkmated me....LOL
Refer to my post #52. You are quoted.

Also, you might add legally (as well as morally).

Really? What product are they taking that they think is HCG? I'm real curious....

Have you ever went inside of a GNC, Vitamin Shoppe etc...? All of them say HCG.
I'm not saying either way what a company needs to do. Profit is the number one concern. A company with morals is a mystery to me - never seen one. All I was saying is, its misleading and everyone knows it is. Partially the reason the fda is so close to annihilating the supplement industry.

Bottom line is it isn't the responsibility of a company to account for the "uneducated, lazy, ignorant, moronic, etc" of their demographic. As a consumer it is your responsibility to research what you are putting into your body. Maybe we should stop producing prohormones because SOME people aren't aware of PCT and won't include one? Might as well right? Just because someone is stupid enough to believe the product contains actual HCG and is too lazy to read the ingredient label and use google is no fault of the company but the consumer. Companies sell to grown adults, not children. In this day and age with all the information available online that are only clicks away, there is NO EXCUSE for someone to not know why they are taking.
This is the supplement game gentlemen. This kind of marketing tactic is not new and is being used by hundreds of companies. If you aren't going to take the initiative to research what you are putting into your body and are expecting supplement companies to hold your hand, then maybe it is time for a new hobby

I don't care either way I'm bored at work and this was an interesting debate. I still think it's misleading. Everyone knows it's misleading but thats how it's done.
Admin said:As I said before, if a supp came out and was proven to get results, you people would buy it no matter what the name was.
Peoples morals and ethics only go so far.....on both sides.

I agree with bikeswimlive on this issue. I think supplement companies should be legally and morally responsible to their customers. This style of marketing will eventually give the government all the ammunition it needs to take over the supplement market. Bottom line, I just don't purchase products from supplement suppliers that I believe are shady or deliberately deceitful and I can name several.

This has absolutely ZERO to do with the governments interest in taking over the supplement game.
It's kind of disappointing that some supp company reps are taking the approach of "we'll market any f*ckin way we want, its on you to do your homework, if we can fool some people into buying it , go us!, sucker born every minute, f*ck you ya dumb ass consumer we have your money now - quit crying about it!"
I realize its you can market however you want within the legal guidelines... doesnt mean you should.

LMAO!! There are millions of dollars in this industry and pharma wants to get involved and have the ability to overcharge for naturally occurring ingredients. That is why the supplement game is being scrutinized not because of the names of supplements.
Obviously but if your girlfriend lies to you on a consistent basis would your defense be "its cool bro she lies all the time."??? F no!!

It amazes me how some folks get peeved about the name of a product, but never call out the companies doing the real bs marketing.
lmao
for example:
Average protein company ad: "Get ready for the most AMAZING protein this world has ever seen!! With isotopic laser based technology, we can simply put, supply you with the PUREST of proteins!!! Don't buy other whey protein blends that have regular basic cheap whey manufactured with all kinds of harmful minerals and metals. Get the GOOD STUFF. And with an enhanced space shuttling delivery method you can make SURE your body is getting ALL the whey protein it needs. Get yours today!!!"

If you don't want go buy from companies that you feel are morally irresponsible than don't. It's a free market and this is the basis of it. Don't like something than don't support something. If enough people feel the same as you and don't support them then eventually it will change. Problem is that this is generally accepted and people will buy just about anything for the promise of gains or fat loss and companies will always take advantage of their naivety. Don't like it? Then don't support them by not buying their products. Simple as that. The company has every right though to market their product whichever way they want as long as it abides by the current legal regulations. If you want to start regulating these supplement companies even more, well that is a slippery slope and will actually lead to the end of the mom and pop supplement companies and open the door to Astra Zenica selling $100 bottles of fish oil.

Admin said:OTOH if you lie yourself all the time don't bitch about someone else lying....
Lie to myself about what? Whaaaaaaaa??? Confused.
Admin said:You said "Obviously but if your girlfriend lies to you on a consistent basis would your defense be "its cool bro she lies all the time."??? F no!!"
And I said "On the other hand, if you yourself lie all the time, don't bitch about when someone else lies".
Get the point?
Dude...it's an analogy.Nope I sure do not. If I lie all the time? What have I lied about? Because I said we'd obviously buy them? I never said I wouldn't. I was pointing out that just because thats the norm doesn't make it right.
Dude...it's an analogy.Example: A hypocrite complaining about someone elses hypocrisy.
