Ok not sure where this belongs but this is where Im putting it.

Anyone else have a gf who is apeshit over this? what herbal life is basically a meal replacement drink (MRP) that contains "aloe" and some other goofy shit

She rants and raves over it all the time on how good it is and how well it works. It seems just like another diet fad IMO.

If somone eats 2k cals a day

replace 3 500 calorie meals with 200 calorie shakes 1500 --->600
+ the remaining calories consumed in the day which would be ~500.

My gf is a runner so shes tiny anyways and almost has a 6 pack so to put her bf into perspective. about 5'6'' 120lbs.

Is there any science beind this because from what I gather its just calorie reduction + exercise = weightloss

Yea plain and simple, this is where the loss comes from. This is another fad in the sense that those who they target directly are the ones who are replacing a whopper and fries with a protein shake, just clever marketing.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. Seems like just an overpriced slim fast.

I hate to bash her cuz she gets so pumped up about all her stuff. She has meetings and weigh ins and she loses lbs n inches but honestly she seems the same size and thats small.
1. Herbalife is a pyramid scam

2. That MRP has a terrible formulation. Just terrible.
Ill have to look up the formula / ingredients in their shakes but I assume its the cheapest stuff they can find. Stuff like this makes me mad

It's soy and fructose for the most part. The supposedly beneficial ingredients are way far down the list. My computer doesn't want to load the .PDF right now, or I'd link you to it, but the nutrition facts are on Invalid Link Removed:/

Yum, soy and maltodextrin... the secret to a healthy lifestyle. Have her switch to something like Core Nutrionals MRP or Scivation Solution 5.... both are far superior and most likely a lot cheaper. Not to mention leaps and bounds healthier.

hmm so ~90 cals 9 protein 13 g carbs / 9 from sugar

This doesnt look like a good setup at all, they add grahm crackers, fruit n stuff to it as well. This is looking to be more of a generic "shake" than one targeted for weight loss let alone nutrition.

The other one is 200 cals 20g protein 23g carbs and main source is soy protien / malto...
Like a effin post w/o shake 3x a day?
Dont even say anything. Just show her this thread. After that, it's her choice.
I shall, aftering seeing the nutrtional facts it pretty ****ty for how much she pays

Thanks for the suggestion, I will definately atleast try to get her to switch!

side note, the only MRP ive used is met rx white box chocolate and it was 10/10 ez but pricey.

they suck others in is what I think resolve was getting at based on their results

these are the first ingredients listed
isolated soy protein, fructose, corn bran fiber, powdered cellulose, artifical french vanilla flavor, guar gym, potassium chloride

It's the same as any other MRP. There's no miracle drink or foods. A lot comes down to calorie reduction as you mentioned and exercise. That's what equals results. If she thinks it's a miracle supplement and it's doing her wonders it's hard to tell her otherwise and hey if what's in it isn't necessarily causing her physical harm then I wouldn't be too concerned with it. If she asks you if you think it works you can explain to her that it's all about calories in vs calories out and taking in a protein shake with fruit would be just as benificial or even better for her then what she's taking. The best meal replacement IMO is 1-2 cups of milk, 1 scoop of whey (or other protein source) , and a fruit of choice.

Oh just like working at the super market? You hav a distric manager than under neeth you have managers for the store than you have the super visor than than the cashiers than at the bottom of the pyramid the box boy. So again what part of the pyramid is a scan? Think before you write. Don't speak out of your ass before you talk cause some of the largest supplemnt companies are direct selling companies such as amway nuskin and Shaklee.

Pyramid schemes are illEgal. Each wave of people must recruit a larger wave of people and this is all in an effort to pay off people higher up. The farther down the pyramid you go, the less likely people are to even BREAK EVEN, let alone make money.
I've heard of herbalife being a pyramid scheme as well. Sounds like an all around sh*tty company.

Herbalife are in the same vein as MaxiMuscle, LA Muscle and MuscleTech over here...overpriced, underdosed nonsense products.

The problem is that all the people in that position get paid an hourly wage. With Herbalife, you continually have to reqruit more and more people to keep making money. Those people then have to reqruit more and more people to make money. The chain continues, this is a pyramid, although it probably isnt harsh enough to make it illegal, but genuinely, it is.

lol DJ do you sell Herbal life?

Makes you wonder huh? lol.. yeah.. also if you get involved in the pyramid scheme see how long you keep your friends. All the sudden you turn into a salesman and no one wants to hang out with you. I had a friend who got involved in a pyramid scheme and sold products and everyone got annoyed with him and stop wanting to hang out with him. It got to the point where the guy offered to fly cross country to see me just to recruit me and then when I said no he didn't talk to me for months. He made me feel like the only reason why he was coming to see me was to sell me and that's it and then he was dissapointed that he lost in a sales opportunity. It can get between friends and your money. It took awhile before we were cool and he no longer does it. It's bad all around.

lets end the pissing match, dj seems like a sensitive guy. if he has a problem with me he can PM me.

I don't sell heral life although I know the medical director from the company and she is not a bad person. Again some of the largest supplement companies are sold threw a independent distributor vs a store. Just cause someone sells it out of there house vs z retail store or online does not make the company bad. Your correct that you have to market your self vs having a marketing team market it to you such as tv and mags such as wallmart or vons.

Again tell me what illigal activita are they doing?

No one in this thread ever bashed the people who work for them. My gf knows her distributior cuz she cuts her hair and goes to the bar at which she bartends.

my gf's sister is starting to become a distributor too, the thread was not intended to bash people who work or support herbal life.

it was intended to get other opinions on their MRP / vitmains n stuff

Again tell me what illigal activita are they doing?
none, the orignal pryamid idea is people owe people money and it builds up.

as the HTS pointed out its the same concept

DJ, I seriously picture you as a very sheltered person. Anytime some body says something in a thread, you start an argument. In fact, I am not sure if I have seen you in a thread without arguing, but that just might be a matter of chance. No one here bashed anyone working for the company. However, any company that calls for distributors that need to recruit more sellers, who then reqruit more, .......etc......., that is a pyramid, plain and simple. MLM type structures are not all illegal, but they make you push the ability to sell the product on your friends like a hard drug. That is where the criticizm comes from.
