Prayer Request Thread

hey guys i was just wanted to ask you to pray for me and my friends as well as everyone else who was affected by the tragic accident. A couple weeks ago seven of my close friends were involved in an two car accident that claim the lives of four people. My friends were traveling home late Saturday night riding in a Cadillac Escalade and were coming to a T-road when a car, the driver was drunk, traveling down the rode slammed into them killing two of my friends, i pray instantly, and one who would later pass away at the hospital . Four more of my friends survived through the twisted metal and one has made a full recovery and two others just got released for the hospital. But the both have long way to a normal life. One has a broken back, neck, leg etc.. other shattered everything below his waste, both are stuggling with day to day activites. But me and my friends still have one girl who is still in the ICU. She was the driver who was not drinking. She had a stroke while the accident occured. She is in much need of prayers and wishful thinking. This is a strong girl who smile for the first time yesterday so everybody was extremely happy. She cant talk, cant move her right side, and has so many complications it unbelievable. If you could pray for all my friends and family who are invovled in this I would greatly appercaite it. Thank you..

here is the story if anybody wants to read it.:REMEMBERING THREE TERRIFIC BOYS: A holiday weekend. Going to a friend's clubhouse near Carlyle Lake. The crash was so horrific, they didn't know what happened when a speeding Grand Am ran a stop sign and slammed into the Cadillac Escalade they were riding in. They just wanted to have a good time after school was over for the spring semester. Three dead, four injured in one car and one dead, one injured in the vehicle that ran the stop sign. Thankfully, a conservation officer, making his rounds, came upon the scene about five minutes after it happened.

Lives changed forever. Only 21, Blake Thole, Justin Haar and Derek Garrison were boys just beginning to make that transition to adulthood, becoming men. They were full of life. Friends who enjoyed each other's company. They were quick to laugh, ready smiles. Just good guys. They were loyal to their families and friends, appreciating the bonds forged over the years. Hard-working kids who made their families proud.

Derek, who worked at PJ's Diner in Breese and in the deli at the Carlyle Super Valu, was dating Nicole Maschhoff. He graduated from Mater Dei in 2006, where he ran cross country, and had attended Kaskaskia College for two years. He was the kid who made everybody smile, put them in a good mood, pumped up the atmosphere. He had everybody's back. Derek was seated next to John Lampen, his best friend since freshman year in high school.

Justin was going out with Casey Athmer, who was alongside him in the SUV's middle row. He lived in Beckemeyer, graduated from Central in 2006, and worked as a carpenter. He liked living close to his family and friends, whom he cherished -- didn't want to move away. He was quieter than his more gregarious friends, but was the kind of kid that everyone liked, real solid individual. He played softball and played basketball in high school, liked to watch sports, especially the NBA.

His longtime friend and Central classmate Blake sat in the back with their buddies. Blake, who graduated from Central in 2006, had been a standout scholar-athlete. He played football at McKendree University, where he also excelled in the classroom, making the President's List and Dean's List for outstanding grades.

The ever-popular Blake had big dreams. After graduation from McKendree in December, he planned to go to law school at Northwestern University in Chicago. He was double-majoring in accounting and economics/finance. He worked at the Maid-Rite and at True Value Hardware in Lebanon. He had accomplished a lot in a short time.

They are gone too soon. They will live in the hearts of many forever. It is such a tragedy, and although we know they are in a better place, our hearts our heavy for this loss. We must think of their loved ones struggling with goodbyes. We need to help the families get through this tough time. God bless you, Drew and Karen, Myron and Doris, and Pam and Michael, and your families.

Three of the four survivors of the accident remain in the hospital. John Lampen of Breese is at Barnes Hospital, but has been moved out of ICU. He has extensive but not life-threatening injuries. John has been a part of our family since he and Charlie were in kindergarten together -- he's always been a live wire, fun to be around, and so devoted to his pals. He wants to be a teacher, and he'll be terrific at it.

Crystal Fuehne of New Baden is in SLU Hospital in critical condition. She was in a drug-induced coma and they are hoping the swelling goes down in her brain. News was better by Thursday, she opened her eyes. Doctors were encouraged, according to friends who went to visit. She never met a stranger, loves to talk to people. She played softball at
Central and is a strong girl. She attends SIU-Carbondale and wants to go into sports medicine. She's a fighter -- we're pulling for you Crystal!

Casey Athmer of Damiansville is at SLU Hospital with broken bones. She's a fun-loving sweetheart who everyone just loves. She's in school and has switched majors, so I don't know what she's studying. She graduated from Mater Dei in 2006, was a cheerleader. We're here for you Casey. Elisha Engelmann of Albers was released from the hospital Sunday afternoon. She's a 2007 graduate of Mater Dei. Thank goodness! We are grateful for any glimmer of hope.

Those hospitalized need our prayers and support. They will have a long recovery period. Bodies will heal, but emotional support will be a factor in helping them get through this. They will grieve for their lost friends.

It's a terrible tragedy -- just awful, awful, awful -- a sad reminder of the fragility of life. We don't know God's plan, and it was an act of God. Let us pray for all the girls, boys and families touched by the accident. When they hurt, we all hurt in such a closeknit county.

I have a request, I know it might seem dumb and immature.. but for the last couple months I've been going through a lot of depression and the last 3 weeks I've just lost it.. I know it's dumb because of my age, but everyday the last 3 weeks until Monday I've been drinking and smoking ciggaretts everyday (cigs for the past 2-3 months since it started) also stopped working out and eating right. I just want everything to get back to normal and me get to how I used to be. I'm trying to quit all the above and start working out again like I used to but it's really hard because I'm still going through the depression and everything. I don't have anywhere else I could think of saying all this so I just thought I'd do it here.. thanks for taking the time and reading this.

And I'll deffinitly be stopping in this thread and praying for everyone else.
It's not dumb and immature at all brother.
You're a bigger man than you realize to come out and share that with us.

Do you have some Christian brothers you can lean on and build you up?

NOT unusual! You guys are under a lot of pressure at that age, feeling the need to know what you want to do with your lives, whether to attend college and if so, where to attend, how to pay for it, etc, etc... Do not feel alone, it's just that you are in a place where it's safe and productive to voice your feelings. We will pray for you, for sure, but I want you to make yourself a "pro-active list" of things that you miss about yourself and your life prior to the depression settling in. Then when you wake up tomorrow, choose 2 things from that list to begin re-incorporating back into your daily routine. Do this each day til you are feeling better about things, then stick with it. A routine is very healthy for you now. There is a measure of security within.

You don't have to have all the answers today or tomorrow, or ever. You just need to stay in close touch with the One who DOES have them. If we had all the answers and the ability to figure everything out for ourselves, we would not need a Savior! He wants to feel you fall into His arms, bud. He so enjoys our realization of total dependence upon Him. Get there. And trust Him. He has a plan for your life and He loves you immensely. Right there, right where you sit, His eye is on you and He's overwhelmed with love for you, His child.

And mark my word. There will come a day when you find yourself in the position of encouraging someone who is in the very same place as you are in right now. Keep us posted.
Great counsel keeper!

It is truley amazing to see such pain, and so much hope in one place. The power of Christ in the words of everyone here is evident in every single post. Lift or die, I am so struck by your story. To feel the sorrow of others is a gift. He moves in mysterious ways his miracles to preform. The people in this thread are warriors, blessed with knowledge. I feel proud and honored to share this page with a group of such outstanding souls, and hope that all of you continue to further yourself in his image, GOD bless you all for eternity.

Hay I just want to say I love all you guys and I mean that, God is so good. I have seen his faitfullness even in my disobedience fellas. He continues to bless me and my family even in the famine we are going thrue. It is so good to know that we are not of this world and do not have to go thrue the things they do, we are a part of a kingdom that never runs dry, there is never a reseccion in the kingdom of god. Brothers and sister do not loose faith, beat your flesh into submisson with the word of god. Look back on all the battles he has brought you thrue.

Dismiss and rebuke every lie the devil has told you. Go after your dreams and goals and dont let whats going on stop you. Cut loose people in your life that can not lift you up and continue to pull you away from the lord. They are being used and they dont know it but you must seperate yourself. Jesus said his mother, brothers and sister are those that do the will of the father. Try and reach the lost but if they dont receive shake the dust off your feet and keep moving. I belive this is for some one that will read this, the holy spirit had me come back and edit this and add this for someone.

I have truley seen the hand of god on my life, he has allowed me to go thrue some things in my life that have turned out for my good even though I couldnt understand at the time WHY. I know I can be a little radical in my post at times but thats just me, I go hard for the lord, ya know. I grew up in the inne city and seen a lot. My personality has changed but I still have a swgger to me that comes out in my ministry and talk. I have a heart for the youth of america and god has allowed me to reach many. I can get on there level and talk to them in a way that others might not be able to, its a blessing. Chritans are not robots we have our own personality and diffrent ministry, but we are apart of the same body.

Edify your brother and sister in the lord, lets get on fire and crush the serpents head, repping Jesus till I die.

Continue to pray for me and Im praying for yall.

Man god is so good, I just gotta say it again. God bless yall.

I agree NattyT, often it is the ones we love that are used against us and it can be hard for us to break these bonds. However, we cannot exercise Faith only when it is convenient for us. Such faith is no faith at all.

Lift or die, I will deffinitly be praying for you man, I hope everything works out for you.

Likewise :)

It takes a lot of humility to grasp the true values that the Bible teaches us :)

"Thus says the LORD, 'Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches'" (Jeremiah 9:23)."

"'But let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,' says the LORD" (verse 24).

"Then he [the angel] said to me, 'Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words" (Daniel 10:12).

"I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid of a man who will die, and of the son of a man who will be made like grass? And you forget the LORD your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth" (Isaiah 51:12-13).

I also feel blessed and honored to share this thread with all of you :)
I think one of important duties we have as Christian warriors :D is to be good witnesses in the eyes of God. To recognize His work in our life and praise Him (I recently started doing that in my workout log :)). Too many "Christians" give God a bad name because of too much pride and sense of righteousness. They are quick at anger and judgment of others. I myself used to be one of them.

Hey, that last paragraph is especially worth a second read. Good stuff there. It's so easy to stand in judgment. It's harder to realize that as we look down our noses toward someone, perhaps they have not had the same advantages we've had. Perhaps God has not yet dealt with them on that particular issue. They still have plenty of classes to attend, as DO WE ALL.

Think of how Christ sought the company of sinners. He did not most often choose to be around the Pharisees, Sadducees or other religious leaders of the day. His compassion for the lost drew Him to them. He did not beat his message over their heads or argue, He just loved them.

Thanks for this Keeper, I couldn't agree more.
Great repentance only comes through great sin. And only once we repent do we qualify to receive the Holy Spirit :D

It also drew them to Him :)

"Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, 'Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?' Jesus said to him. '"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets'" (Matthew 22:35-40; compare Mark 12:28-31).

I'm going through some troubling times but that is ok. I know it must be His plan, and His plans are always to our benefit :)

We must stay faithful, no matter the circumstances. Besides, there is much to gain from suffering. For suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope" (Romans 5:3-4, NRSV). :D

I've been reading biographies of Calvary Chapel Pastors tonight and I found something I want to share with you:

Finding God Faithful
When former professional model Greg Howard found out he was HIV positive, he thought his life was over. In fact, it was just beginning. He started down a path that led to Jesus, a wife who loves the Lord, and a ministry life that testifies to God’s faithfulness. Today his HIV is undetectable and his life is a powerful testimony of what God can do when we have reached our lowest point.

Pastor's Howard favorite quote from the Bible:
Philippians 4:13 (NKJV): I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

And this one is one of my favorites :)

God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it (1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV).

I'm still covering your friends and their families, Lift or Die. Please keep us updated.

hey guys thanks for all the prayers they must be working... Johnny one of the surviving victims had another surgery this past week and it went very well... he is still bound to a wheelchair and he will be for a couple months, but just a promising sign... Another great accomplishment Crystal the driver of the vehicle was moved out of ICU to her first rehab room and has be able to take her first shower in since the accident.. (7 weeks) she still has a trach in her neck so she is unable to speak but seems to be more aware of her surroundings.. we taught her "I love you" in sign language and shes been using it... she has been able to sit up for a short amount of time and the swelling in her brain is subsiding.. she had multiple surgeries to go..and a long long road to recovery.... but looking more positive than before.. this thread shows great people are everywhere and willing to help others out... this terrible accident has brought not only my friends and i closer together but also my whole community.. i again thank everyone for their support..... I know my friends are looking down on us right now try to help me and my friends through this and they will look out for you and your family too... God Bless...

It's going pretty good so far, thanks!

You somewhat remind me of myself at 16/17. I was deep into a depression due to many family/personal factors, drug usage, etc. At a time before I knew the Lord, it was that depression and my stubbornness to find 'my answers' that lead me to his feet (I posted a brief testimony on DR.D's 'proof of Gods existance' thread last year).

Comming from someone who has been delivered from this devils cloud - do not waver in your faith and in your desperateness/intensity in your prays. Wait on him; seek him for stregnth and protection against the enemy. He will deliver you (Heb. 11:6).

I have a few personal points I would like to share with you: :)

#1 - Your individual, secluded time seeking and worshiping him is key. Yes flesh and social factors/needs are important, but remember this is a mental/spiritual battle that can only be won by his strength and power through us. HE is our source. It can be easy to want to "stay busy" to get away from the feelings, but this time is paramont. This may mean that you must put your life on hold a little to create this time, but its more than worth it to attain a higher level of strength and intimacy with the Lord.

#2 - Pick up some new Christian worship music (Delirious, Jeremy Camp, Matt Redman, SKC, etc.) and use those new songs/albums as a 'memorable entrance' into your victorious triumph through this cloud! :)

You know, I still have some of those CD's that I bought at the time and when I listen to them now it brings back such great memories of the things the Lord has done in all aspects of my life. It again reminds me of just how faithful he has been to me....even when I have been so unworthy of anything.

#3 - Fellowship with other brother/sisters in Christ is essential in overcomming this. Ask God to put a brother or sister(s) in your path, or to put a church on your heart (if you do not already attend). If you have a friend in the Lord already, do not be shy or affraid to reach out to them.

#4 - Use Gods word in those moments of weakness/doubt/fear. The above scriptures posted by the others are a great tools to lean on in these moments. Spend some time reading them, memorize, write them down and keep them in your wallet! :D When these moments come when your feel down/out, use them and praise him for his faithfulness.

Remember, God said HE IS Faithful and he will not leave nor forsake us (Heb. 13:5). God is not a man, that he should lie or change his mind ;) (Numbers 23:19).

Lastly, depression is indeed strong and at many times can be overbearing. It has been many peoples downfall, both Christian and non-Christian alike. I stand here today as someone who has gone through this fiery trial and has been completly delivered. You will be amazed at how much he will transform and renew your mind and outlook on the world (Romans 12:2). It will lead you to great joy and happiness into a newfound purpose in life, for him.

We will continue to pray for you. Please keep us posted.

In Him, -J

Sorry to hear about the tragedy and your loss, Lift or Die. Sounds like some good things are happening as a result. I will certainly pray for you, the familys and the survivors. Please keep us updated. :)

I have indeed experienced some fresh insights as of late, just as you say. My new wife left me a few weeks ago, pregnant with my unborn son at that, and I fasted and prayed for 5 days straight after she left. The experience resulted in some spiritual clarification for me.

D - I am genuinely saddened by your circumstance. I am very sorry to hear, my brother. You have been on my heart and mind since I read this a few days ago. Wait on him and yes praise him, even in the middle of this strorm.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10.

Sometimes, these trails and "life shaking" events are seemingly the only way that He can get our attention and snap us out of a mindset or behavioral pattern. I went through a few a while back and at the time was like "what did I do for this?" and "why is this happening?". I did not respond as well as it seems you did with immediate, long-term prayer and fasting.

After the fog cleared, he showed me the error in my ways, in my thinking and the simple non-biblical based 'compromising logic' I was using to justify my decisions. Needless to say, I did not repeat those patterns and decisions, though some were not that easy to fix. I am forever greatful for the re-direction, which in itself has lead to specific blessings in my life.

During moments of reflection and examination of life/self (which every Christian should have often), I sometimes say things like "man, why didn't I listen to you Lord?" or "why didnt I see this obvious thing?". These experiences and internal faults greatly exemplifies our finite, sinful nature and humbles me even more. Its times like this that make me affraid to "steer my own boat", and resultantly has made me wait on him even more going forward in this walk.

I will continue to pray for you and that the Lord will give you the peace that surpases all understanding....

I have been away busy with work for a while and am just now catching up. It is great to see prayer in action, and the faith of you all. I just read today in Timothy 2, the very first verse,

1 Timothy 2
1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

Notice the emphasis on prayer, it is "first of all...", it is possibly the most powerful action we Christians can take, and it is great to see people who love to pray, and who are praying for others, intercessory prayer, prayers of mercy, it is a truly beautiful thing, I am sure that this thread is a sweet smelling sacrifice to our mighty Lord.

In reference to some of what Dr D has posted about deception, I am in agreement with him. If you read much in the Old Testament, I was recently in Ezekial, and the Lord was chastising the prophets and priests of Ezekials time as they were preaching peace, and all was well, when in fact Isreal was ready to be taken captive for their sins. Though we Christians may truly be doing well, America is not, and many are preaching peace in this day, while America is being swallowed in immorality and perversion. We think we are progressive in our thinking and our acceptance, but all we are doing is accepting a deal with Satan. We need to pray for America and our leaders

Timothy 2:2
2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

We as a country are not on the right track, the smartest economic minds will not get the economy going again, this is a spiritual problem of greed, and materialism, and false god of money, and poor morals. Our president and leaders need our prayers, I am sure they are tyring their best, but they are wrong, they are trying to move us further from God instead of closer to Him. I urge you to pray for our leaders and America, as seen in verse 2 of Timothy 2, this is completely Biblical, and at this time completely necessary.

I ask that you all will pray for my Cousin Jen she was in a bad car accident and is in critical condition. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers as well.

I’ve been pondering about what I said a week ago in response to:

And I believe it is not the right thing to do. While it is true that the scripture tells us “not to walk as the rest of the gentiles” do, it doesn’t tell us to cut them loose.

Why ? Think about it, we are the salt of the earth, each one of us is called to be a witness for God’s work and to fulfil God’s plan...and what exactly is God’s plan ? To be re-united with His children in eternity.

You also know that havens will rejoice for every sinner that gets turned onto the path of righteousness. This brings me to our principal duty as God’s witnesses. We must assist other people who struggle fighting the wrong battles for they have been deceived by the greatest deceiver of all. We can’t help these people if we cut them loose from our lives.

"Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins" (James 5:19-20).

We shouldn’t be afraid that these people will turn us away from God, if we do fear that, it means that we ourselves need prayers. You see, this thread is full of people who have received God’s grace, we know better than to rely on our own understanding, we do know that we must act and pray based on faith and not based on sight. Therefore, satan has NO power over us. :D Yes we can still expect to be tempted by satan because we are his strongest opposition, but once you accepted God’s spirit you will always seek Him first and in response He will ALWAYS provide a way of escape.

God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it (1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV).

It is our relationship with God that keeps us away from sinning and not our isolation from “risky” situations.
It is very important to realize that. That leaves us with the responsibility to help others who are not yet as strong in the spirit of God. We must pray for them instead of accusing them, judging them or cutting them loose from our lives, for they do not see the unrighteousness of their own ways.

"And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth" (2 Timothy 2:24-25).

The kind of deceit they are under can only be eradicated by fasting and prayer. I call all of you to pray for people that you know need prayer. I have a friend that needs mine. I’m sure that everyone here knows people that could use a prayer. Whether it is a family member or a friend, pray for them. Pray also for the government. I don’t want to turn this into a politics thread but I think we can all see satanic influences that are upon world leaders.

God is in the business of answering prayers and forgiving sins. Let us be a part of it ! It is our duty and it is our responsibility.

"But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, 'Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.' And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only . . . For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also" (James 2:20-26).

Just think of Jesus and what He endured for our salvation. That alone should be enough of a motivation :)

I ask that you all will pray for my Cousin Jen she was in a bad car accident and is in critical condition. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers as well.

Will definitely be praying for her and your family as well. I pray your family will witness a manifestation of the divine healing power of Jesus Christ. Amen

James 5:16
16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Isoc, to support what you said about our nation, look at this by John MacArthur:

When God Abandons a Nation
When abortion, sexual sin, vulgar entertainment, corruption, and anti-Christian hostility come to dominate a nation, you have to wonder when God's judgment will start.

God sometimes judges a nation by abandoning it to its sins,
letting sin run its deadly course. Sin isn't merely something He punishes-sometimes it is the punishment.

So what does it look like when God abandons a nation? Is that where we are today? What hope do Christians have in making a difference in the world if God, Himself, has given up on it?

Does that not resound truth? We have examples of this type of judgment on nations in His Word.

Amen Dragonfly I couldn't agree more, we cannot isolate ourselves from sinners it's definitely not the example our Lord set for us. Truth is more people in my life are not saved than are, and I absolutely feel a sense of urgency to pray for those who do not know Christ.

Matthew 5:14
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Mark 2:15-17

15 Now it happened, as He was dining in Levi’s house, that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him. 16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, “How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?”
17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

I have been away busy with work for a while and am just now catching up. It is great to see prayer in action, and the faith of you all. I just read today in Timothy 2, the very first verse,

1 Timothy 2
1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

Amen Dragonfly I couldn't agree more, we cannot isolate ourselves from sinners it's definitely not the example our Lord set for us. Truth is more people in my life are not saved than are, and I absolutely feel a sense of urgency to pray for those who do not know Christ.

Looks like there is hope for the unrighteous :)

Paul said that "the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (1 Corinthians 2:14).

As for us who have received God's grace, He didn't give us just enough for our own needs but enough to share with others :)

God may just be testing us believers. We need to pray for those who can't pray for themselves.

"Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?"

As isoc pointed out, prayer is perhaps the most powerful tool we can use as Christians. The reason the world has fallen to sin may reflect our own failure to pray.

I recently went through this series. It helped me a lot to understand how to pray effectively :)

Amen, I like those analogies; well said for sure. We servants of God must help those lost and not disregard them, this is the purpose of Christ's mission. Jesus had to explain to his disciples this concept, yet christians till this day do not understand this concept.

im really glad i found this thread i had no idea it even existed. its really nice to see that theres so many people of faith on this board. for anyone who reads my posts this is probably repetitive but i would appreciate it if you guys could pray for me to completely recover from my anorexic thinking. ive made alot of progress but its still there someday and i just really want to get over it. ive been thru pretty much everything you can imagine and more for only being nineteen, addiction, jail you name it ive been there. But ive always managed to pull through it with gods help so if you can remember to pray for my recovery id be very appreciative and will start following this thread more and praying for others aswell. thanks everyone

Consider it covered, Greg. And open your mind to new possibilities. Often we paint ourselves in a corner, so sure that this is just how things are. We miss out on blessings and favor that God wants to give us, simply due to a defeated mentality. I can understand how that could happen with you considering all you've been through, but today is a new day. You have just shared your need with a little army of prayer warriors, not only the ones you see actively posting in this thread, but others that pray for the needs listed, but don't post. New day. New power. Expect change. I mean it, look for it. And I challenge you to praise God out loud when you're in your car or in the bathroom, where-ever, just tell Him He's an awesome God. Tell Him you love Him and tell Him you're expecting Him to turn things around for you. Scripture tells us "He inhabits the praise of His people" so when you praise him, it brings Him right to you! When we praise before the help comes, I think it really touches His heart. You're in good hands, but you have to grab on! Go for it. Refuse to accept the way things have been as the way they have to be! New day.

Definitely will be praying for you Greg. Those things that have happened to you do not have to define who you are or who you will be become. God Bless you man.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

My prayers are with you Greg, I know something about the things you have experienced, the good news is that there is a solution, a better way. Abandon yourself to GOD, in the fullest way possible. Do not be burdened any longer, its all a matter of handing it all over to HIM. Today is a new day, and you are not destined to fail, you have the love of GOD on your side, and that is everlasting. You have not only been forgiven, it has been forgotten. A friend of mine had a dream a few years ago, that he had died, and was standing before GOD. He had led what might be considered an exemplary life compared to most, but as he stood before GOD, he hung his head in shame. GOD asked him, why do you hold your head low before me? My friend replied, "I am so ashamed of all the things I have done". He then proceded to list some of his transgressions. As he spoke GOD stopped him, and said "I am going to have to take your word for it" GOD had already not just forgiven him, but cast it out of memory as well, as soon as my friend had begun to seek HIM out. Seek HIM out, and you will be cleansed of all the things you have done in your human experience. This is a great fact for us!!!!

After reading a few of these posts i feel quite humbled with my request.

I've never been good with asking for help, but it's somethign im trying to work on while im still young.

Im taking my MCAT test for med school in 2 weeks (Aug 6th) and i would appreciate some prayers that for these next two weeks i can put my anxiety aside and focus so that i can have the tools to perform at the best of my ability on test day. Im applying to med school in august and ive been breaking my butt since i can remember so that i can get in...and it looks like all i got left is the MCAT...so the pressure is on lol.

It seems its easier for me to get into a streetfight...wrestle in 3 day tournament...or lift weight that should crush me over and over again, then walk into a standardized test. Kind of messed up right?

My prayers are with you all and thank you for your time.

I am reminded of the Obedience that Christ demonstarted with accepting the cross. Let us not forget He chose to accept the cross out of obedience. He chose obedience anticipating the greater reward - God's reward.

At times I need to remember my role in this relationship. My role is to understand my instructions, accept them, and to be obedient to follow them.

In Phillipians 4:4-7 we are instructed and it is our choice to be obedient - to accept instruction - anticpating a greater reward - God's reward.

The Instruction: "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."

The reward: "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

My prayer for you and me is the ability to be obedient.

I'm not sure my post belong here, but I just wanted to say that this thread is a truly beautiful place and I've never seen anything like it before.

There's a lot of respect and caring about the other in here and it's a very calming place. Those prayer request seems to be a very good way to share things that are rarely shared and often one would be very alone with those things.

It's a very strange thing to me, but I guess I will apologize as I haven't been as respectful to the bible as some of the people here seam to be. If it lead to places like here, then there's definitively something somewhere that is worth it. It's sort of confusing.

I do not want to hijack this thread and will let room for prayers.
Have a very nice day.

None of us are as respectful of the Bible as we SHOULD be, in light of the suffering that went into it's content. But God's mercy covers the distance between where we SHOULD be and where we are in this life. That's the simple beauty of it.

Please, Phoenix. Join with us and help in this prayer effort. God doesn't have a specific format or any kind of requirement for prayer, just talk to Him. You don't really even have to go into detail, just whisper the name of one in need of His attention. He already knows every need they have, but the effort our combined voices creates greater power. So help us out. And if you have any questions about how it works, pm me, or any of the warriors in this thread.

And thanks for your encouragement. The derail was most welcome!

Tie the strings to my life, my Lord,
Then I am ready to go!
Just a look at the horses --
Rapid! That will do!

Put me in on the firmest side,
So I shall never fall;
For we must ride to the Judgment,
And it's partly down hill.

But never I mind the bridges,
And never I mind the sea;
Held fast in everlasting race
By my own choice and thee.

Good-by to the life I used to live,
And the world I used to know;
And kiss the hills for me, just once;
Now I am ready to go!

Farewell, to you all.

I would like to ask for a special prayer request. My best friend's girlfriend (soon the be fiance) has just found out that she has what doctors think to be cancer that has spread from her lymphnodes to her hip bones. She is at Vanderbilt hospital currently.

I would greatly appreciate if everyone would say a special prayer for her. She is only 22 years old and her name is Courtney.
