holy shit bro, shins bleeding??? I always get bruises on the top of my knee caps, but bleeding shins???

was a great workout though...I'll be in town another week (trip got postponed), we gotta hit another workout!
 
doing good man. i haven't had the privilege of bloody shins yet, but i thought that's what baby powder is for.
 
Beastly W/Os G! The 455 dead is sweet but the 405x5 has my attention...repping 405!! That is nice. Glad you like the reverse grip rows. Much better lat connection for me as well.

Amen on the form up there in the 400s... Very hard to be perfect when you're maxing out man... Just as long as you're not looking awful - you should be fine (i.e. round back)... I had to really fight to get the weight up on reps 5 and 6 on 405 the other night.
 
I was a big shin bleeder back in the day of heavy deads myself. I always thought it was bad ass. But it was when you knew you were in the groove using the correct form. Dudes would freak out when I would leave the blood trail on the bar. No wiping things down near the squat rack.
 
G, you deff have a super strong back no doubt and forearms!! Your wo's seem to just get better and better! The weight is looking good to at 202! :)

i would think a nice solid break would be a wise decision before running something like test

I agree. I am pretty lethargic at the moment... I know I am putting my body through a lot of ish right now with DS's. Time to give it a break for a while.

Hate to high jack your log but have a quick question for you guys! When I strength trained I always used mixed grip when doing max effort, low-rep deads. I have recently been doing heavy, unstrapped deads in the 4-8 rep range like I have seen in your logs. What kind of grip do you guys use when taking a set to failure?

I do my light weight RDL's with an overhand grip. I use safety or "mixed" grip when going over 300 lbs. Just switch your hands up so you don't become dominant on one side more than the other.

I can't wait to deadlift with you again Money. Its nice to feel that you KNOW the 405 is going to lift these days... rather than wondering if its going to budge on a max out. :lol:

Yea, @ equinox we definitely got some stares... i don't think that gym witnesses people doing deads very much.
 
Mixed grip scares me after seeing a bicep rupture from using it.

Kind of is... They have parties on the actual Equinoxes every year... and people go and get pretty crunk. The spring Equinox was last week, floor was full of drunk chicks, and I was trying to get my deadlift on.

i just don't trust anyone with them. and my son would loose it if i was gone for a day. he looses it when i don't take him to the store with me :( the good news, is he makes up for it : says hi to all the girls, asks them their name, and i get to check out the eye candy while he's got their attention :)

The leg day of death.

Warm up - plates on the quad extention.

Squat - 135x15, 245x12 PR, 285x8 PR, 315x3 PR!!! , 185x20
Hack Squat - 110x15, 200x8, 200x10
Seated Calves (20second stretch at bottom, explode to 5 second hold at top ala mrbigpr)
platex15, 2 platesx10, 2 platesx10 ... this was excruciating. I could barely walk up the stairs afterwards.

Quad extentions - 150x10, 250x10

I am so stoked, but SOOO spent. 315 finally arrived. I finally don't feel bitchmade in the squat rack.

Lost some weight... :( back down to 198... don't know wtf happened or if the scale got screwy... or if the scale WAS screwy before... but I am leaner than ever... so who cares. Point of the day is, I f*ckin killed it on legs. I've been having appetite issues from the Nolva (liver stress) so the dose has gone down to 20mg, I will dose for 2 more days. I also finally broke it off with the girl who was giving me all that ish... so that has been rather unpleasant as well. I almost puked today when I took off my weight belt hahahaha.

All in all, a pretty good day.

No, not for everyone. But when my buddy Jeff (who granted is 215lbs and 49 years old) is squatting 415 in the rack right next to me... It feels good to throw that third plate on.
 
The 3rd plate had me feeling like a bad mofo until the back went crack. Now I am skeered to try it with just one plate. I wonder how long I should wait before trying real squats again.

Until you feel like you are healed. I would say light weights until maybe 90%, and then go up gradually. Once you are 100%, add 15-20lbs each week until you are back where you were. It sounds tedious, but it will be over before you know it and your back will thank you.

The crazy part is I feel 90+% right now. However, I am not sure how much of that is the injection talking. I want to get 3 months away from that before I give squating (minus hack squat hammer stength) a shot. It will be much longer before I attempt deads again though.

Silver listen to your body, that's the best advice I can give a person. Sure little ass weights makes you look like a fool, but it's better than no weights.

When I say little weights I'm talking 10-15 lbs on a 45 bar.
