Prayer Request Thread

Wow, just saw this thread. This is awesome. I was youth pastor for a few years before I started teaching and coaching. I'm definitely subbed here!

We have another appointment in five days. Gonna get a referral and see another specialist. We have been praying and my wife is so positive I love her. I appreciate
everyones thoughts and prayers, hopefully I can report back with some better news.
As I said earlier diaphragmatic hernia is suspected, but we got a second opinion with
from a surgeon and she said it is too early to tell.

Jon

^^^
My prayers are with you and your wife Jon.

We hope to hear some good news soon Jon! We're definately keeping you in our prayers and hearts, I will also get my friends and our Youth group to keep you in their prayers. God bless you bro

We must all do the same, Glory be to God for he has poured his mercy upon us. For his scares, we have been healed.

Well, I guess I may as well ask for your prayers as well. I need healing in Jesus' name. I have bulging discs in my back and neck. I'm under the care of a pain-management clinic as well as physical therapy. The pain is really reducing my quality of wife, and my wife's as well. I believe that God will heal my when it is time. I know that our prayers are heard. Thanks guys.

I have been told that the word translated church in our bibles actually means to gather, assemble or congregate, so is this not then a form of "church" we have here?
We are an assembly of the called out ones of God and we make up a living house of the living God.
Jesus said in Matthew 18:20
"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." That right there is powerful stuff.

Jon, continued prayers and well wishes for your child, your wife and yourself.

Take care to follow the doc's advice well. If a disc segments, usually surgery is required.

This is a beautiful thread. Each of us reading here can bring a piece of what's needed. Like when women used to get together and quilt, they'd each bring their own fabric pieces to add. We bring our individual prayers and join them together to create a tapestry. A covering for the worries, needs, and wounds listed here in faith.

1 Corinthians 12:1-26

Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Very good chapter, it shows we all have different gifts for different utilizations. We all are important to God, big or small in our works, we still are very versatile in his glory.

We are one, we are the body of the living church of Jesus Christ our Lord each member gifted differently for the edification of each other.

COLOSSIANS 1:24
Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.

1 CORINTHIANS 12:27
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

EPHESIANS 5:30 NKJ
for we are members of his body.

Romans 12:3-7
3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to hisfaith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

Amen, we as christains are the body of Christ, we all are equal to the eyes of God, this why we are not to judge each other but pray for each other to grow stronger in our relationships with God.

Amen to that. It is imperitive that we encourage each other in our faith. Often times I will not feel "on fire" as I like to put it, and it is the duty of those around me who share my faith to guide me through, until I feel that fire again. Mother Theresa wrote in her book that she felt the absence of gods fire for 50 years. 50 YEARS. Keep in mind that during those 50 years she did the most of her works. That is the definition of faith.

its awesome that there is a group of people on this site who love Jesus!

It's also awesome that you big, tough, muscle head (j/k) guys can lay out your needs so humbly, trusting they will be lifted to the Lord. That's beautiful.

Matthew 18:1-4 (Contemporary English Version)
"About this time the disciples came to Jesus and asked him who would be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Jesus called a child over and had the child stand near him. Then he said: 'I promise you this. If you don't change and become like a child, you will never get into the kingdom of heaven. But if you are as humble as this child, you are the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.'"

this reminded me of Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. I can't tell you how many times I could have used someone else's iron to sharpen my own as it has gone dull at times, that's why the apostle Paul said in Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Your analogy of the tapestry of prayers is beautiful, keeper. It's great to see another powerful woman of prayer in this thread!

And hey, most of Jesus' disciples were meatheads if you think about it. Rough necks, sailors and fishermen, so is it really that surprising? These men here are NOT choir boys, lol. They are alphas in the gym, but omegas for Christ. ;)

i saw one of my friends who is a pretty big guy worshiping one night at church and I saw him lift up his hands

I have known him for a long time but for some reason it was really humbling to see such a large dude submitting himself to the will of God.

For me, I see nothing strange about this, God is God, this guy is a human that is just bigger than most. We all are like granites of sand unto the presence of God.

i know but we associate strength for power and its just really mind blowing to think that we cant even come closssssssssssssssse to the strength of god!

i could use some prayer, im trying to over come sexual temptation. its hard i cant seem to win my battles.

Be cautious brother! I have known this battle too, unfortunately. If you join yourself to a woman, she better be a good woman. Otherwise, you can pick up 'spiritual diseases' called demons. Sex is God made and pure when backed with love, but He gave us reproductive protocols for good reason. God is not trying to deny you pleasures with His rules, He's trying to protect you from demonic infection! Sex mingles your soul with another, so make sure you aren't inviting any spiritual STDs.

Even good men have stumbled bro, but God can pick you up so that you still won't fail in the end. I don't care how bad you messed up. God does not reward the perfect, He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. ;)

I like your name fightback, you are in my prayers friend. God bless!

Oh man, you are sittin' pretty then! Good deal.

Porn is a trap, so still be careful to avoid regular exposure to it.

One day, you and your future wife will have such as awesome marriage for your strong discipline right now, and your 'fulfillment' will be beyond anything a porn could ever offer! Amen.

Porn is the antithesis of intimacy. It is just the opposite of what God intended for a man and a woman to experience, within marriage, as the ultimate expression of physically bonding together of two people. You are best served by fleeing it. I believe every pornographic photograph we see becomes a permanent image burned into our memory.

:nervous:
Uh oh!
My memory is forever tainted then. I'm not perfect, and will admit to giving in to the temptation at points. I do try not to, however. The thought of my wife knowing I looked at other women makes me sad, truthfully. I know that would hurt her, so I really try to be cerebral-faithful as well as I am always in flesh.

In case you've ever had previously viewed images "pop up" in your mind, that is how it has been described to me. Like out of nowhere - possibly at very inopportune times.

Whatever you continually expose yourself too, it starts to become the norm for you! That's the trap with porn. Not just porn, even stuff like bad TV shows can stain our conscience in a very insidious way. I used to bounce bars for extra cash after college, and remember seeing some messed up stuff. I was young, I was tough, and still pretty worldly myself, so I thought I could keep it in perspective. After a few weekends though, it didn't seem so bad anymore. I still knew what was right and wrong, but my conscience had been blunted and I knew it! It's an adaptive process, it can't be avoided. Lungz, your a vet bro, I know you can understand my point.

Be around good, positive people and images, because your environment and associates change who you are and how you think! Make it a positive change, with good, positive, strong people and activities that have some redeeming value, something that gives and doesn't take. God will always give you something better as a replacement, and that freedom is sweet indeed.

I dare say most of us have struggled with issues of sexuality it's so prevalent in our society today. I gotta say mad props to you young brother for remaining a virgin. I have been with my wife for 19 years now and have been very faithful but prior to her I was very promiscuous and I regret it even today. How much more special would it be if she were my only sexual partner as she is my only true love.

I would like to ask for prayer for my church's revival services going on now. We are just a small church in a suburb of Indianapolis, but we can make a difference in our community, we just need to turn away from the temptations of the world and concentrate on God. We need to be more concerned with souls and less with money, we need more obediance and less questioning, we just have such great spiritual needs, to open our mouths and live our life with confidence and be the witness that God intended when He placed it on the heart of the founder of the church to start it there. I know there are many pressing needs this day, but please take a moment and pray for lives to be changed in our services so we can be a force for God. I thank you brothers and sisters.

God bless your Church, your efforts and intentions, and your minister. Your requests are added to the rest of the brothers in need right now.

I don't know about you guys, but the more I put on my prayer plate, the more pain I feel. It's draining. The incredible part is the rebound! The more I give, the greater and more powerful my cup is refilled. Just like weight training, no pain no gain, so we gladly raise your requests to our Lord and relish in the privilege to do so for you, anticipating our own refill as well. ;)

I thank you brother, and I agree, prayer can be taxing, to groan in spirit, to face our own needs, lacks, faults, and our own powerlessness. But what a joy it is, to know that it is not with fancy words, not with our own worthiness, but because of our Lord and His love and care that we can pray. It is not so much about who is doing the praying as who is doing the listening. It is true that God loves to hear those who are on good terms with Him, who come to Him humbly, sincerely, who believe He can truly do what we ask, but these are things we all can do if we desire. The true power is from Him. To have the desperation in my prayer is something I want so badly, to be desperate, that all other options are gone, to realize that my only hope is Him, to cry out in spirit and soul. What a joy then to pray in thanks, that is what lightens and refreshes to be bursting with praise, to be kneeling in spirit and thanking God, for doing what only He can do, for loving us in spite of our faults, for His matchless grace and mercy, the unearned answer to our prayers, the realization that He does care.

To pray that way is what I want in all my prayers, and to do it often.

For me that prior to period is the problem, like I said I have never been unfaithful to my wife. Or have I?
Matthew 5:27-28 (New International Version)
27"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery. 28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart".
This is very difficult saying. According to the ultimate authority(Jesus) I have been unfaithful a whole lot of times. I try to never dwell on those kinds of thoughts but I would be lying if I said they did not enter my mind from time to time. I know that I would never act on them though my wife is my queen, someone told me along time ago "A happy wife = a happy life" I live by that motto.

I am very familiar with that passage, it is one i also struggle with. I also never have, nor ever will be physically unfaithful to my wife, but i cannot lie, those thoughts have also entered my mind as well. I just ask GOD to send them back where they came from. I believe it is a journey that we are on, and it is our human side that sins. But i take solace in the fact that GOD made all of me, and loves all that he created, good and bad.

I would like to say that this has been the most down I have ever been in my life but I am definitely feeling a lot better. I am thankful and grateful that I found this thread and decided to post my prayer request. All of the prayer and well wishes and personal messages I have received here have been wonderful so thanks to all of you, and of course thanks to God who receives all the glory.

It is a common struggle isn't it? DR.D talked a couple posts up about how you can becoming desensitized, that's true on an individual level as well on a societal level. If you look back 50 years ago at what was considered obscene those things are now found on ABC family channel, it is amazing how far we have fallen in such a short period of time. We are under assault as are our children and that is definitely something that I pray about a lot.

That's just beautiful, brother. Once we realize just how helpless we truly are, and see that we have no other choice but to call on God, that's when we realize we never did have another choice, and He's been carrying us all this time. He does care, and His love is profound.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to isoc again.

Ya gotta say I'm guilty of this too...I remember that passage also its tough to follow in the steps the Lord wants us too but all we can do is try but we will never be perfect thats for sure....We all need to pray for strength with this...for sure....My wife is the ROCK of our family though and she keeps us (me and the kids) in check all the time....

i wouldnt say he loves the bad, God actually hates sin, its by Jesus blood that our sins are looked passed :) We are human we will sin, but imitating someone is the biggest form of flattery and i believe that becoming and acting more like christ impresses god the most :)

I agree completely. Things certainly have reached a critical mass concerning what is acceptable.

Ahhh, you misinterperet fightback!!GOD hates the sin, but loves the sinner, which is what i meant when i said he loves the good and the bad!!! And yes, forming ourselves more in the likeness of CHRIST is and always will be my highest priority. Remember, perfection is a goal, not a destination.

Man, glad I stumbled upon this thread, it's quite refreshing really. I have to say since meeting my finacee', it's funny, I really don't even have the temptation to look at other women. She makes me so happy on so many levels, and shares my morals, very tough to find in today's world. Granted, I tolerate other views, but I'm always like, "Man, some people are so empty and don't even know it." It really is true, looks fade, but a personality and values are forever. Good thread here guys, count me in!!

Saw the doctor again. Not much happened. She is sending us to get another ultrasound at a different clinic to confirm diagnosis. If the baby does have it then we will be traveling very soon to see a specialist that is experienced in this. Still hoping for the best though.

Will be praying for your physical, mental and spritual blessing during this time, this has to be incredibly draining in every sense. Many times we are tested in only one or two areas, but I would imagine that this feels like a land, sea, and air assault, definitely something only the Lord can defend against.

Putting a request out there to keep me and my son in everyone's prayers. My ex is taking me back to court for custody and I'm going to fight for my son. She has put both of us through too much with her lying and deceitful ways and doesnt have the best interest of my son. I'm pretty much at my wits end with stuff and am scared to death being as courts really favor the mom's even though anyone in their right mind that has seen what has been going on for the past 2 years would never give a child to her to care for.
