SUNCLOUD'S workout log with assorted goodies

wow, you are a super man Sunny... 2 workouts and still have time to take care of your gf and everything else... is today your day off work? how do you do it?

pseudo retired, and going back to school. i was fully retired till the economy tanked :( as far as school, my homework seems to get delayed till the last minute.

Dude, you're retired at 32? What's the secret?

i had a decent inheritance (from my grandmother) that i invested at 18 when i was in the army. kept working to pay all my bills while i played the stock market, and retired at 29. then the market collapsed, which left me better than when i started, but not as good as i hoped. now i'm 2 years shy of my bachelors and i'm gunning for law school.

in a way its a good thing, as my drive to better my career kind of tanked after i inherited. i kept looking for things that interested me - police force (which the more i learned, the less i liked), and now law. i've always wanted to be a doctor, but blood makes me nauseous.

The good life.

Well, if you ever want to talk about stocks... holla at ya boy.

it could definitely be worse :) buying microsoft shares in 1994 definitely helped a lot :) wish i was smart enough to get some google though when it was sub 100 bucks.

Haha, that is a good damn buy.

I made some excellent purchases the last 6 months. Helped me recoup the last 5 years of 401(k) pain. :)

I made a pretty penny selling google shares for up near $700+ back in November of 07 after buying it for $100.01 dollars in early 2004.

Hope the G/F feels better and everything else goes well.

in retrospect, that was my biggest miss. i was gunning for yahoo at the time.

Props to you Sunny. I am 50 and my semi-retirement has shifted gears as well. Not sure what my second career will be either.

Dang all you guys talkin about stocks/stock market, makes me want to learn it even more!

I been trying to learn about it(as well as other things) since i dont have a job/career and sit at home all day.

let me tell you one thing its a very expensive game if you are not careful, basically there's literally millions of ppl trying to get your money. Start off with a phantom portfolio and see how you do, if you find out that you are lucky at picking stocks then use real money. my 2cents

NOTED! I just started gettin into it in dec. when i started gettin sick and i know i have TONS and TONS of learning to do, but its always interested me, and so nows a good as time as any to learn it! :type:

TY DF for the tip!!

This actually is pretty spot on... aside from the fact that the equities markets have wealth creation... So just think of a no limit hold 'em game with extra chips being tossed in here and there...

if you have lots of time to learn I recommend reading books lots of them, you will learn a great deal before you get your feet wet and hopefully avoid some pitfall mistakes, here's some recommendations:

Against the Gods
winning the losers game
reminiscences of a stock operator
unconventional success

Yup... I just lift, eat, sleep, and study/research all day. Well unless im at the drs and such... But ya, i think my friend has the unconventional success book, and i have heard him talk about the winning the losers game book, but i dont know if he has that one?

Yes, i wont get into anything unless i ahve a very good grasp on it!

okay. i know its thursday, but i got two workouts in. yesterdays, which i missed i did at 1PM, and i just got done with today's workout. i'll start with what was supposed to be yesterdays.

Wednesday
legs/abs/forearms
rest pause

squats (ATG) 275 x 10/5/2 - up 3 reps. gonna hit 285 next week.
SLDL 235 x 7/3/2 - up 10 lbs, down 5 reps.
leg extensions 200 lbs 17/9/5 - up 3 reps.
cable crunches 160x22 - nada
pinwheel curls - 85x 6/3/2 - up 2 reps
standing calf raises 380 x 24, 420 x 18 - up 20 lbs on both sets
hack squats 360x 9/5/3 - up 3 reps.

solid workout, it felt really good.

8PM's workout. bleh. let me preface this by saying that i was teaching my daughter (6) to do pushups. i did 20 at 7:45, before my son jumped on my back (4 and 40 lbs). another 30 pushups down. if you've never had the misfortune of trying pushups with almost a plate on your back, you're missing out. its really tough. then i walked into the gym and realized i had to do chest/tri's/delts. the following numbers probably suck, but i can really feel the burn. i'm trying not to loose my protein shake at the moment.

thursday
chest/tri/front & mid delts
rest pause

Front DB delt raises - 55 x 9/4/2 - up one rep.
Side DB delt raises - 45x 5/3/1 - up 5 lbs, down 6
Pec Dec - 240x 10/5/3 - nada. took all my energy to hit last weeks numbers.
Butterfly Machine - 220x18/8/5 - up one rep.
DB bench - 85's 8/5/2 - down 2 reps. i kind of expected this.
seated dip machine - real world weight - 210 i can't move down without being strapped in
overhand - 325x11 - same
underhand - 325x 11 - up one rep.
parallel grip - 325x14 - down 1 rep.

never, ever do pushups with a kid on your back and walk into a chest/tri day. DOMS is going to beat me senseless tomorrow.

HOLY ISH BROTHA! WOW.... Im impressed bro! 2 hardcore workouts that are ment to be spaced apart done in less then 12 hrs!

I best those ATG Sqauts felt real good! You got em next week bro ;)
And you know i love me the pinwheels! Noice!

And ppl wonder why i call you Superman!

i'd feel like a jerk to miss another leg day (i missed one on cycle). and after posting in another thread that you have to pick your battles - either push yourself or deal with mediocrity, i'd feel like a douche missing today's workout. tomorrow will be painful.

Hey man you know none of us here would think let alone say that! Maybe we would say your a PIMP with a limp, or Maybe a straight up cool cat, but a Jerk? Never!

But yes i understand where your coming from, and we do what we gotta do, cause pain aint no thing but a chicken wing and besides, if one doesnt push themselfs they will never see how far they can truly go ;)

the phrase of today is "tore up from the floor up". i'm beaten today. g/f has an appointment to get her knee checked out at 2PM, so i'll be hitting the gym later in the evening - 8ish. i've never had chest DOMS like i do today. my delts are so badly trashed it burns to raise my hands above head level. maybe i should do pushups before all my chest workouts.

Might want to increase cals a little here to recover better.

Perhaps try raising your glutamine intake.

i've got a ton of bulk glutamine - i'll definitely get some in.

update - the doctor said that my G/F tore her ACL, then drained out half a pint of blood from her knee. bleh.

WOW! that really sucks . What will she have to do to fix that ?

Wow bro... Sorry to hear... Your poor girl, my heart goes out to her. Still keepin you guys in my prayers!!!

Ouch...how did that happen? I guess the MRI will decide the next form of action. Sorry to hear that Sunny.

1st time playing softball. she was running for a ball and transitioned from the grass to the gravel while trying to stop. how lame is that?

Easily done if the ligaments aren't used to the action. Has she played any sports?

lol. she's been heavily sedated off opiates since 2006 - went clean as of january. walking and cardio at the gym are about it. last time she ran on concrete was maybe 2004 when she was pregnant with the youngest.

she's in decent shape via cardio - but the knee IMO wasn't used to actually impacting the ground, which is what happened.

Typical weekend warrior syndrome....have to build up to full speed again. Once again Sunny..sorry to hear!!

No doubt....nothing good comes from negativity and she will benefit from your attitude.

i hope so my friend. will update the workout i just did tomorrow. had a very informative day, which hopefully will translate to some serious DOMS tomorrow. i may have found out how to isolate my lats :)

if DOMS is nasty tomorrow, i'll post in detail how i managed to do it. if no DOMS, i won't bother, but i'll update as usual. crossing my fingers.

Hopefully we get to hear the news! My lats just don't seem to grow...

Glad to see the training is still going balls to the wall Sunny. You're a true iron-warrior my brotha.

Sorry to hear about the gf's knee. I had arthroscopic surgery on my right one in 1990 (yeah, I'm old) and it went very smoothly. I hope her's goes as well. If that's what they decide to do.

And brother AZ is spot-on with the advice. As usual.
Keep a positive attitude. And help her to do the same. It'll speed the healing process.

Dude im still having trouble with my lowest abs....I hit them hard and still nothing. Great log thus far Suncloud

i'm still trying to get mine too.

LATS :

i got DOMS in my lats from yesterday when i experimented after my workout. now i will admit that deads really helped build my entire back, lats included. when i do straight arm lat pulldowns i can feel my lats burning, but no real DOMS the next day, even though i'm training them to failure.

after my workout, i tried burning them down - i dropped the weight down to 50 for straight arm lat pulldowns. now here's where it gets interesting. the weight was so light, that i didn't wrap my fists around the bar - just kept my hands flat, palms down. i got the same burn from doing 50, as i do rest pausing 130! lean forward slightly, bring the weight down to my hips, and brought them up to eye level - no further, all while keeping my hands flat. this managed to take my delts out of the movement, and for one of the very few times, i felt my lats getting demolished. i'll do 4 x 8-12 after my deads, but before the rest of my back workout and see what gives.

it was humbling to drop the weights by 80 lbs, and i'm a little shocked that it worked as good as it did. if i didn't explain this properly, please let me know, and i'll attempt to describe it again.

Yep... Dual Pulley Pulldowns, and squeeze the crap outta them... Then superset that sh*t with some wide grip pullups (also squeezing)...

Boom, lat doms.

Maybe some seated rows while your at it.
