Beer problem

Hey, I got a question. I recently started to drink beer, and one night i had around 17 beers in a 2 hr period. (Alot for me, since i am new at drinking). And the whole night I was throwing up and morning, etc. However, the problem that I have is that I can't take more than a few sips of beer anymore. I was wondering if anyone else had that problem? Like whenever I have a sip of beer, i just feel a little sick, and can't have anymore. This occurence happened a month ago, and i stil haven't gotten over the feeling of beer in my stomach, and me throwing up. Will this feeling and taste ever go away?

well, i mean i'm going to college how am i not going to drink? and ya 17 is alot excessive i know. But i wanted to get really really ****ed up that night.

It could just be a psychological reaction to a substance that you had a really bad experience with, if that makes sense.

yea, it does so you know how i could get rid of it? should i just let time do the healing? OR just try to mentally block out the feelings that i had?

For me it took time. You could probably work your way back to being able to handle beer, but I imagine that would mean having a positive experience with it (probably won't include doing a keg stand).

maybe you and beer just aren't meant to be. maybe something (or Someone) is telling you you shouldn't drink - don't fight nature, you'll never win - trust me, i speak from experience

You cant attend college and not drink? I havent drank for a few years, long story. but if you cant handle beer, switch to something else for a bit. bad advice from a guy in aa, but thats what i did. and maybe you shouldnt drink like someone said before, or at least cut back a bit. thats alot in 2hrs!

use this chance to stop drinking its not good for you.... one day in your future you will look back and say i wish i took his advice... i would have saved so much money from buying liquor and I would not have felt so bad after drinking like i did... and i would have not make an ass out of myself only if i had listen to his advice... stop drinking!

Couldnt say it any better. Dormant is right, its the best thing that ive been able to accomplish.

I'm glad i stopped drinking. But yeah if you like spewed up etc and can't touch it now you might aswell quit while your ahead!

You don't have to drink at college but if you do find it hard and think a lot of people will start preassuring you into it, just say you have a stomach ulcer and can't drink anymore! :) They'll soon stop bugging you

Welcome to the fun world of being hungover

I can't even smell jaegermeister anymore :D

Lift weights instead

haha jager! Had some fun times with that stuff!

17 beers in two hours? what were you funneling the entire time? if you cared about your training you wouldn't be drinking that much. i am in college also, and yeah it is tough to not drink alot but it can be done. what i usually do is i drink powerade zero with some vodka and maybe play a couple games of ruit...and that is it..and that is only one night a week. or if you really wanna get ****ed up quick..when i go out i usually go to the bar that i work at so i drink for free...vodka and lo-carb monster..thatll **** you up very quick.

It is a psychological response. your body went through a pretty tramatic experience. What your are explaining is called classical conditioning. You drank an excessive amount in a very short time period and you had a misrible experience. So at the time the beer you were drinking was the unconditioned stimulis that you introduced, and you puking was your unconditioned response. The Neutral Stimulas was the sight/taste of beer. The neutral stimulas is paired with your unconditional response. Now your conditioned stimulis is the sight/taste of beer and that corresponds with your conditioned response (which was puking all night). So since the beer and everything associated with it was the direct cause of your night, the two are paired together and are associated with each other now. So now even the mere sight and/or taste of beer reminds you of that unpleasent expereince that you went through (which was puking and a terrible hangover!)

Unconditioned stimulis=beer
unconditioned response=throwing up/hang over
neutral stimulis=sight/taste
Conditioned stimulis= sight/taste
Conditioned response=feel nauseous/sick

Yeah bro its a psychological response, a classically conditioned one to be exact with that bad experience of drinking 17 brews as a conditioned stimulus.... anyways just tell youself drinking a few beers isn't gonna cause your body to go into that condition every time and the conditioned stimulus making you get sick time after time should go away.

Besides that people are going to tell you obv. not to drink on a bodybuilding forum but being in college myself I know your gonna sometimes. Just remember big meal before (casein protein if you think you might not be eating for over 4+ hours) besides that food again when your done drinking and lots of water during the duration of the whole night. Also make sure you bring a little cutie home from the bar so you can get some cardio in and work off all them beers lol. Also I suggest not lifting on days before you plan on drinking cause your not gonna recover and rebuild.

bigpapa i didn't even read that above me before I posted lol apparently you know all about Pavlov and his salivating dogs as well lol

just psy. 131 here but classical conditioning, operant conditioning, latent learning, insight learning that was some intresting stuff imo

i took a whole course on learning and cognition and also a course in early childhood development..crazy stuff you learn

well, i mean i'm going to college how am i not going to drink?that is the stupidest thing i've heard in a long time. theres a word for people who do not drink in college. graduates/graduates on the deans list. But i wanted to get really really ****ed up that night. if you drink just to get "***ed up" then ask yourself why you are drinking in the first place. most people who drink, drink socially not excessively.....in my younger days i drank a $hitload of, well, everthing and anything icould get my hands on, it did not start out they way, but it ended up that way. theres a word for people who drink excessively.......care to guess what it is? before you go rolling your eyes, ask yourself this.....why do you drink? to have a good time? relax? cause everyone else is doing it? those are all good reasons to drink, i'm serious. but to drink socially is not "getting ****ed up" ok? know the difference please. oh and your beer thing.....thats normal switch to another form of liquor if you need to drink or think you need to.

thats the double truth......ruth!

man I did the same thing but with pepperment schnapps. (not sure at all on the spelling of that). I threw up everything but my a-hole. And still to this day (10 years later) I can not smell that **** without gagging. Even thinking about makes my stomach get in knots

Excessive amounts of beer inhibit the production of Testosterone as well as increase the production of Estrogen, therefore making much more difficult to gain muscle and giving a guy man boobs. Hmmm... you sure you really want to go back to drinking beer? :sad3: You seem to have a tendency to overdo it. I'd take this opportunity to quit.

i think it would be in people's best interest to come to an accurate understanding of the concept of "moderation". having a few on a friday, saturday OR sunday night isn't a big deal. getting drunk is counterproductive though. sure you can go over 1 or 3 every 6 months or so but it shouldn't be your main objective each time you choose to have a drink or two.

i wouldn't listen to me though. you're stimulating the economy with all the beer you're buying. lol

thats true..phytoestrogens are released as part of the fermentation process.
and i think it is true that drinking has a correlation on GPA..i drink a little bit once a week.. 4.0...my friends on the other hand..drink about everynight and the highest GPA out of them all i believe is a 2.8

and think about it this way..what do you think the ladies want? a stumbling bumbling drunkard who can't carry a conversation and later on that night who can't keep his cock erect and falls asleep...or a guy who has had like 2 or 3 drinks, is feeling good and can plow the **** out of them and make them feel good? my experience, it is the second.

that reminds me of funny story... many years ago i got my buddy drunk on peppermint schnapps and he got sick out of his mind, the following day whe he went to brush his teeth and got a whiff out of the tooth paste he started puking right away!
Poor guy but i had a good laugh :lmao:

ya you definitly want to get the ladies loaded. You just need a couple to get loose and you dont want the ladies to notice THEY are the ones intentionally getting loaded. Plus if you at any point are more drunk than they are your chances of getting some pretty much are non existant.

And ya I went to eat a peppermint about a month after that incendent and immediatly threw it up! I was in a subway and ate one of the pepperments they give out by the register. After that i purposely stayed away from anything pepperment.

but you dont wanna get too loose and wind up next to a cow or worse..a RuPaul look alike..i know fat chicks need love to..but they gotta pay...

my problem with drinking is that one it too many and too many is not enough, so i had to quit drinking to avoid these problems!

I like drinking. I have a good time. I don't drink till I am puking or belligerently drunk, but I do get drunk just about every weekend. I have a 3.9 GPA and I still get good progress in the weight room and the mirror. I cut out drinking for a couple weeks last semester because of how much of a bad rap it gets with the folks around here, and I honestly didn't see any better results than I'm getting right now. I just realized that I'm not a professional bodybuilder or weight lifter. I do it for fun, and I'm not obsessed with it to the point where I want to give up other pleasures in my life. Drinking is one of those pleasures to me, but if you don't like it then by all means don't do it. Just don't let anyone tell you what to do. Decide where it fits in on your list of priorities (hopefully not too high...)

Just be sure to plan your diet accordingly for the day, and account for the calories (1 light beer is usually around 100 calories with 3-6g of carbs)

Your drinking way to quick. I understand wanting to get buzzed and have a good time. But never be in a hurry to get drunk. You'll get there eventually and pretty soon, you will learn when to stop (when your buzz has peaked without getting out of hand).

I rarely drink these days, so I usually end up drinking too much when I do. And I have gained so much weight from my regular drinkings days that I don't even know my own tolerance anymore.

And in my experience, Jagger seems to make people violent. I'm not sure if it's the taste or the alcohol content.

ya, i understand what you guys are saying. I was never participating to drink as much in college as i did that night, i know people can die from that stuff. But i do want to drink, just not as excessive. Stopping beer seems like a def, since I don't know if ill ever be able to drink again, unless i condition myself to do whatever with the unconditioned stimuli stuff. (which does seem very difficult)

I might start trying that when i get into college, we'll see i guess.. =/

im in a fraternity and i dont drink on a consistent bases....you just need to prioritize...whats more important, your future or just having fun

i seen guys that lost control and ended up dropping out of college after there first year (seems like its kinda common especially being in a frat)...i actually ran into one of my frat brothers that ended up dropping out, he works at subway now (its kinda sad)

17 beers eh, i know guys that can put that to shame including myself

Yea, i know. I usually don't drink that much on weekend nights, like a couple here and there. So my alcohol tolerance is not that good. And ya how is the frat? like im thinking of joining one when i go to college. you like it there?

yup...u get out of it what you want......the frat's goals also make a difference

some frats focus on just partying and drinking and minimal community service and school involvement....some frats are well rounded

its a good opportunity to socialize with girls, throw parties, but also build your resume, build leadership, get involved with community service, network

networking, building resume, leadership were key to my success in furthering my career...without my involvement, i would have jack **** to put on my resume (i got accepted to dental school, which is extremely competitive). my fraternity is not the biggest on campus or in the nation but its one of the wealthiest in the nation from having doctors to business entrepreneurs to presidents (one of out alumni created ticket master, and another owns a oil company and banks around 650 million a year).

but we also know and like to have a good time...have to find a balance

so be wise in choosing the fraternity you want to join....find one that fits your personality and have guys you get along with....find one that has goals and is set in teh right direction......you never know if your fraternity will be the next one to get kicked off campus, once you join one, you can't switch.

Hell I use to have a drinking problam out the A$$ years ago and I am so gla dI did quit. I will drink and thats rare and i did its like 1 beer not all I can drink till I puke beer. Misuse of anything is bad and try to set some sort of goal. Most importantly if your in school and you say how you "have" to drink bc your in college means your willpower is very low and you need to A) find better positive people to hang out with or b)find another hobby bc I guarentee you drinking like that is foolish and yeah since you are in school how are your grades if I may ask? And yeah stop now before something bad happends. You got to seriously get it togther man like many of these guys in here we all went through some bad paths and we are here to tell you that its not good to drink until your organs start going out and 17 in 2 hrs is a $H*T load of alc content. How the hell can you manage to workout like that? I mean omg seriously do you see Jay Cutler and Ronnie Coleman drinking their ass off I mean come on. Get it togther man! I;m not trying to be mean I am just saying I been through that path before and its something would not want to go trhough again. I been to clubs bars stripclubs you name it. But now I got my act togther and I saw a better side of myself and you should too by laying down the beer and start picking up some weights.

that is very, very, very true! i learned the hard way. when i went to college, i was 6'2" 200lbs 5%BF. One semester later, 220lbs 16%BF. I ended up dropping out, drinking to the point of addiction, and going all the way up to 243lbs, fat as hell!!! Yeah there was some gynoclamastia involved as well.

It's not wrong to drink, but do so in moderation. It really does slow your gains and possibly even reverse what you have achieved thus far. Just think about what you are going to have to do the next day, and how it is hurting all of the hard work that you did that day. Enjoy college, but don't end up like me kid. Not like me.

Try douching . That should flush out the sand . Jesus man it's beer , it's not like your uncle fondled you at a fam reunion . just don't be another stereotypical college f**kup and do something amazing . Cure cancer c'mon !!!

17 beers in 2 hrs almost = alcohol poisioning.
Your body was trying to tell you something. I would have loved to see your BAC.

I can't even smell jaegermeister anymore :D

Lift weights instead

First time I ever had jaeger was a night full of about 15 bombs and uh...other recreational stuff....

Never could even sniff it again without wanting to puke.

I dont drink anymore. I have given in to a small portion here and there, like a Spark and such.

Dude, you pay thousands of dollars to go to college to learn.

This isn't the movie, Animal House - that's not college.
