BIGGER, FASTER, STRONGER: Snag's Recipe for a [NATURAL] Recomp, Competition Style!

Hey thanks all 'round guys..
Vol, gracias! (I spelled it right! :approve:)
DW- there's a bit less definition, but thanks for that! I do feel much fuller.. Glad you liked the Kurt Warner bit as well, that definitely rates BIG with me too.
And Lungz -- dude, you're part of my driving force now, so I dig that feedback! :D

The end of that game killed me. I'm not so much a Cardinals fan, but an admirer of Kurt Warner's class and character, plus I have an unfounded dislike for Roethlesburger. What an insane last 2 min.

Definitely epic, but definitely disappointing.

I just did a rough crunch of what my diet will look like here in 'transition week'..
C=175g
P=305g
F=70g
@2550 cals
So, macro % breakdown is 27/48/25 C-P-F.

A little high on the fats, but I'm consuming solely red meat for my meals (96%), and I still worked 1 TBS of coconut oil in there.

Massive props my friend, you continue to get bigger, leaner, and stronger, always improving, thanks for being such a great inspiration my friend!!!

Such a great game though. That play at the end of the first half was epic... I mean the guy knew Kurt loves to go to the hot read and used his intelligence against him to beat him. Then if he doesn't score it all goes for not... and then there's a review and he just barely gets in. Madden's comment "If a guy goes through all that you have to give him the touchdown". He's laying on the ground and can't move from exhaustion. On of the all time best plays I've ever seen in every aspect.

Then Kurt brings them back does everything he can to win. He does his job he gives them the chance... just wasn't to be. Unfortunate but wow what a game.

Lookn great snag!! Would you mind explaining to me the benefit of heal raised squats?

Thx dude.. In a word: teardrop baby! I use these to isolate the quads more. Gives a different focus..
Many guys also use these due to lack of flexibility, but that's not my issue..

hmm interesting..may have to give these a shot..thanks bud!

I find that the more you push with the balls of your foot, it works the lower area of the quads near the knee. When pushing more from the heels I get a better feel in the glutes, hams, and upper quad area.

Hmm..this might be a function of the different squat form we are using. I'm assuming here you don't go ATG. When I explode out of that bottom position, I am utilizing the lower part of my quads, make no mistake. I'm actually in a little pain right now from crucifying dem quads earlier!

ATG...is there any other way Snag?? That just seems to be where I feel most of the work happening when the focus is put on pushing with heels or balls(of feet). Will be feeling it myself in about another hour. Hope the lower back cooperates. Have had spasms all last week.

Attaboy! ;) You do close-stance as well?
Man spasms suck, hope you're good on that.

I mix up the stance thru-out the sets. Well, the back sort of co-operated. BB squats went to 275x10,275x5 and the back said your done. At least I got the calves and hams done before. It is much better than it was last week though. More stretching to do!!

I can't stick to a plan..
580cal, 90g carb breakfast front-loaded w/ Pslin -- just cuz I felt like it..
Love how this stuff makes me blow up. Will be a hi-carb day today; planning on using Pslin with another meal yet as well..
Updates to follow, gotta jet to GNC.. :run:

Looking huge, man! I actually have to say that I get more of a food-pump from AP than P-Slin. I know that's kind of backwards for most...Although, pre-Super Bowl I had a huge bowl of whole wheat pasta with about 8oz lean ground beef, "front-loaded" with 1 AP + 400mg P-Slin....WOOOOO!!!! That was awesome.

Bustin' at the seams Snag. I would kill to look like that. I'll get there....

Day #40 (Really??) Shoulders/Arms

Same format as I've been using: led off with iso shoulder movements first; lateral raises, rear laterals, front DB raises, then military press; standing straight-bar curls, between legs EZ curl, DB curls w/ twists; close-grip bench, straight-bar attachment tri pushdowns, DB kickbacks. 1min rests thruout; ran out of time for abs this morning.. :(

Another awesome workout in the books; really felt the extra energy from the Pslin & hi-carb breakfast, strength seemed to go up a notch as well. Pic shows the obvious pump! :)

Okay, so here's the deal: even tho I can't stick to a plan , that is what I will do for the remainder of this log. Tomorrow is a complete rest day; got things to do anyway, so it works out well. (Taking my son in to get his braces off tomorrow - he's pretty excited!) When I come back Thursday, I'm beginning my final 21-day approach..
Training will see supersets utilized, more cardio, and a totally different format than what I've been doing.. different for me too -- I'm stepping out again, experimenting with a program that is not my own and I have no experience with, so it oughtta be fun..

But 23 more days (counting my rest day tomorrow) and it's my 'show day'. Since I officially have no actual show to do at this point, we'll try this new schematic and see how it unfolds..

Who's the toughest judge you know Snags?? Better not disappoint him!!

Looknn geeereat snag!!

Snag, remember when you mentioned in my log some reasons why you didn't like Orange Triad? They've just updated the product, and some of the changes were things you mentioned. I know you're set on all your supps and know what you like, but I just thought it was interesting. Maybe you had something to do with it!

Nice info on the casein SteveO. I had never heard any of this..
Casein has never bloated me, never had any digestion problesm at all - which is odd, because I am a bit on the lactose intolerant side. Maybe it's just when I exceed a certain amount..
Years ago, I used to drink milk like I do water today (welll, maybe not quite that much), like probably 1/2 gallon daily easy, probably closer to 3/4 gallon. This was before I began learning my body; I had no clue why I was bloated & had gas all the time.
When I began competing, milk of course was one of the first things to go from the diet; I noticed immediately the bloating went away, my skin blemishes disapreared, and I just felt sooo much better.
Now, I really only add the casein in a shake at night; I consume 1/2 cup ff cottage cheese/serving/day typically (sometimes 2 when dieting); I drink no milk. Every once in awhile I'll bust out a cup with some cereal if that's in my diet, but 99% of the time I am milk-free.
Guess I'm okay with that threshhold..

DW - great summation!
Ppl often line up their supps with no forethought, thinking they will get 'miraculous' results, relying on these things for their results.
But that's why they're called 'supplements' - they supplement the other things you do (being diet & training specifically). Sure, quality supplements, used in an optimal way/time/structure, can have truly profound results. But they should not be the basis on which you think you're going to build your results for sure..

Glad to see some of you guys are still lurking around! ;) I never intended for this to turn into such a tome.. But there is some interesting shit to be read I think!

For a change I have switched to low-fat Soya milk - high fibre. Swaps out lactose for glucose as a sugar source - good for postworkout. Also adds in a variable to the daily protein source.

I am totally Lactose-friendly, but I have noticed a difference with the change as far a bloatedness is concerned.

I have some unflavoured casein - I just add it to my regular whey in varying ratios during the day. Early 80:20 whey Late 20:80. My post workout shake is with soya milk, so it's more like 60:20:20 (whey:casein:soya plus residual from oats if you're going to count it)

Macros today: 2750cals, 355/245/40.
Man do I feel swole! :D

Macros for off day tomorrow:
2500cals, 115/350/71.

Thanks for the support guys!

Keeping the metabolism guessing huh...sweet!!

shooot..an extra 17g brah!! Anality at it's finest, aha.
LOL on the Texas origin..things are bigger in Texas, haha.

Snag's dual approach to anality:
1. maintaining inconsistency in diet & training splits
2. counting macros

Yeah, RenegadeRows musta been sensitive to my criticisms..
I do like all the changes they've made.

I feel ya, I adopted your same weight for 4 sets across the board, as oppose to my usual continuous set pyramiding method while in the crux of my cut. It's a MAJOR change to how I normally lift, but it's refreshing and it makes me miss the more high intensity lifts which seems to be my default settings, so when I do go back, it'll be a double refreshment, kind of Spearmint gum.

Haha, doing well GJ. My food is kinda bland these days, nothing spectacular.
Breakfast is an interesting combo tho; maybe I'll get a pic of that one of these mornings..

Thought about you Snag...almost took a food pic of my tri-tip roast in a bed of yams, carrots, string beans, and a rutabaga.

mmmm..sounds tasty Mid. :food:
I'll get my creativity back in three weeks, no worries. One of the first things I'm gonna roll out is some egg rolls and crab/cream cheese filled deep-fried wontons.. :)

You know, a bagel baked in the oven with some moz cheese & banana peppers sure sounds good too..
(note to self: 'that'll be enough of that nonsense there, self') :nono:

 Yeah man, I was at my mom's this w/e, we were reminiscing a bit, and I recalled that every w/e we use to have brunch, and those bagels were staples in the menu..
We didn't have much money back in them days, but we sure ate good!

Snag Storm Blows In A Different Direction..

Day #42 Upper Body (Low Volume/Heavy Load)

TOTALLY grooved on the new format today; 90sec rest periods were a bit different, but the heavy weights made me feel rather large! :D

Decline BB press ss w/ bent pulley D-grip rows (6x4)
Standing Military press ss w/ lat pulldowns (6x4)
Incline DB curls ss w/ V-grip tri pushdowns (6x6)
Hanging leg raises (4x10)

Everything done in a 1-1-3 tempo. SWOLE! :burnout:

Nutrition today: 175/300/60 (counting 10g from fish oil)

Usually like liquid of course, but ever since I ran out of the Udo's Oil, I've been using caps.
Currently Premium Omega (GNC Peventative Nutrition, their premium product line); the GNC pricing connection again.. ;)
