Virile Mane - Hair anyone?

I got that from ONE session, to early to tell if it was the cause.
It still bears watching....much like systemic DHT levels and the seemingly opposite effects seen between body hair and head hair, the functionality of it might be a VERY welcome surprise.

Do you split up your vit. D dose daily? I take 2000 iu in the morning (natural man) and 2000 iu, right around when the sun would set. Would it bet better all in one dose?

I usually knock back 3000iu at 10am, just to make sure I get at least THAT much. I try to remember to take the other 2000 while the day is still rolling.

dsade..immortalhair who use to post at regrowth had made mention of vit D and hair quite some time ago..he too suggested much higher than rda and even recommended certain supps (dont think they were synthetic vitamins) too..you might want to ask him some questions over at his forum..i think he may of immense assistance in directing sources as well as iu's to take..being that i have less than 50 posts i had to play with the link..but you get it i'm sure

I just want to give my update been using for approx 3-4 weeks with no changes whatsoever. Im 24 yo NW 3 with diffuse thinning.

Does anyone know when I should see results?

Dsade are you familiar with LLLT? Can we combine these two treatments?

Everyone is different, depending on what state your follicles are in. I suspect diffuse thinning means telogen dominance, which means it will take some time to see results.

LLLT can be used along with VM.

First of all, you have to spend some time on some of the hairloss forums. When you do, you'll realize that it is TOTALLY unrealistic to expect results in anything less than 3 to 6 months - and 12 months is a better guage. Sorry if that's disappointing to you, but if you're going to try this product you've got to give it a decent chance.

Second, regarding LLLT, you definitely can combine that treatment with Virile Mane. That is, in fact, what I'm doing, and I'll report my results as time goes on...

PLEASE do.

I have actually been looking into red-range light and the effects on various body tissues for years now, but have not had a chance to play with them for real.

I actually have an odd design, based on an obscure study showing Infra-red light to speed muscle healing immediately after workout, that is akin to a tanning booth filled with Infra_Red high strength diodes - for a 15-20 minute relaxation after workouts.

Then again, I'm an odd thinker at times.

hey guys...

do you have the newer version, which is more liquid, or the old one, which is "thicker"?

it seems that every review in january seems negative with the newer version (especially refering to hairlosshelp.com), every in december positive.

Yep, the potential uses for lasers/leds/infa-red lights are in their infancy. The possibilities are very, very exciting - not just for hair growth and muscle healing, but for myriad other applications.

For the present, though, I'm hoping that the combination of Virile Mane and my (home built) laser helmet will yield great results...

Dsade, lookin to order some more Java Lustre within the end of next week, any chance JavaConditioner will be set to go in that time frame?

sorry dsade

but so far, im really let down by this stuff...i know its been one month, but seeing as though people were claiming resuls in a few weeks, i dont feel it is unfair to state that i have no results after a month....

Hi guys,

Been on this stuff for about 7 weeks now, really slathering it on, 2 to 3 times a day, but its beginning to pay off. I am noticing additional thickness in my crown, it was really thin before but over the last week changes are happening. I am going to start applying it to my hairline also and see if it does anything. Would really be nuts if this stuff accomplished what rogaine failed to achieve.

Most likely not...this has been our busiest week in 2 years, and I've barely had a chance to breathe.

Nothing unfair about sharing your personal experience. However, as long as you understand that the overall state of everyone's head of hair is different, then it will make sense that not everyone will get the same exact results.

I hope you continue to be patient and diligent with your usage.

Well shut my mouth...we just had something delivered that might let me knock out at least a FEW bottles and get them to Nutra by next week.

hey dsdae! could you try to answer my post as well? I think it's interesting =/
I don't actually know how to answer your post.

First, this is only January 8th, so to compare new feedback from January is odd.

Second, other than that first batch, the formula hasn't changed. Temperature variations have a lot to do with consistency, but the amount of actives per bottle is the same.

Third, feedback from different people cannot be compared as an X to X basis, given personal differences in hairloss causes, current follicle state distribution, extenuating factors (smoking, diet, etc.) and family history.

dsade,

how much vit D are you recommending a day? and should it be taken with meals? and is this something you only recommend for the winter?

also, what else can i take internally to speed up my growth? MSM? anything you can think of?

thanks

depends on your bare skin sun exposure. The majority of us now work inside, even in summer, which means we are sorely deficient.

Other things to take internally are fish oil, a good source of gamma tocopherol and tocotrienols (toco8 is a good product) and a potent antioxidant , like NOxidant.

im confused

so how much vit D should i take daily?

also, do you have any other recommendations? any thoughts on prenatals or hair/skin/nail supplements?

personally I am shooting for 5000-7000 iu a day, timed to when we would nor.mally be getting max sun exposure...between 10 and 2.

A good multi, or perhaps something like Poseidon, would be a good addition.

I'm going to run an experiment with dl-panthenol, gamma tocopherol, and topical vitamn d on someone else combined with VM to see if we can get more amplification.

Day 12 of VM and JL,

Since day 6 I've noticed 2-3 tiny hairs growing below or on my hairline. These have been growing longer, now there are about 5-6 hairs. It could very well be that these were going to regrow anyway, I didn't pay so much close attention for small hairs on the hairline till I started VM and JL, so it's hard to tell but without a doubt, they've started to grow just after I started using VM and JL. I should note that I'm also using a few other topicals (have been for months) so it's very hard for me to determine what is really going on. But I am more optimistic than not that VM and JL are doing something; I will keep updating.

Last week I mentioned JL not lathering up as much as I expected. Well now I can say it's not a problem at all, I didn't follow with a volumizing shampoo after JL and my hair looked great, was very manageable. It's great stuff, I like the feeling it gives my scalp. I'm a big fan of JL, now.

Especially within the temples area, I'm getting lots of little red dots or rather small red patches as if there's red ink stained underneath my skin. Does anyone else have this? is this supposed to be a good sign?

I've been using VM for about 5 weeks now. Usually it's only once a day, but this past week I started using it twice a day everyday and will stick to this schedule from now on. I have definite new hairs growing in the very front and on both sides at the hairline and beyond into the middle of my head. The ones is front are very noticeable because they are growing in a different direction than all the rest of the hair there. These are follicles that haven't produced hair in years. I'm also using it on the crown where I am very thin. I have a hard time telling if there is new growth there cause I can't see it well. It does look less barren though.

I also had to get my haircut about a week and a half earlier than usual this month. I told my hairdresser about the stuff and she noticed the new growth and had me forward her the link to check it out. She was very surprised that anything would work even a little this quickly. She also couldn't believe the price for something that actually works. Seh ended up taking a picture to use for comparison from cut to cut. I'll update with any new changes.

Excellent...the offer for high quality progress pics is still out there.

I also have come to completely agree with the twice a day application (which answers THAT question), as my growth has been quicker to see.

I'll try to update more pictures this weekend.

Odd, though...there is a single 1/8" wide diagonal "strip" about an inch long that seems to be "resistant". It's only on the left side, temple. I think I might try rubbing extra there mid-day.

Have you ever had a laceration in that spot? I know that once a scar forms on the scalp, hair usually won't grow there.

I also grabbed some Vit D today based on your suggestion. Hopefully that speeds things up as well. I have a feeling that VM is gonna be a big hit for you guys.

Edit: I do have before pics that I have to find on my home computer. If they are good enough, I'll let you know. I forget what the offer was...

I'm hoping as well....we have a huge bottleneck of new stuff that we took funding away from to perfect the VM. It would be nice to pick the pace back up again.

No scar there (I just went and checked).

To clarify the Vitamin D recommendation (as Strat pointed out) this is a SEASONAL recommendation to be used during winter months. Extended high dosage brings with it other complications.

Agreed, plus I get plenty of sun in the summer, so it wouldn't be needed then.

On the patch that is resistant, could that just be a group of follicles that are in a similar stage?

God I hope so....the extent of growth on BOTH sides of it are becoming so much thicker that I am getting self conscious about that single strip.

I'll see if I can snap a quick pic to see if anyone has ideas.

dsade whats the offer for the high quality pics? also what are the requirements? thank you
We're looking for before pics and steady progress pics, same angle same pose same lighting.

We're looking for something quality enough to use in sales pieces, as well as an easily referenced photoguide for interested buyers.

We're going to pick the best 10 or so and award a year's supply of the entire hair growth stack (Java Lustre Shampoo/Conditioner, NOXidant, and Virile Mane) to each.

dsade or anyone else....

what do you guys think about taking capsaicin internally? like 1.5g a day.....

any thoughts? have any of you ever tried it?

thanks

You may end up with gastro-intestinal stress at that amount. In any case, if you wish to supplement with capsaicin, consider Raspberry Ketones instead. They are structurally similar to capsaicin and synephrine, are at least as effective (some research show they may even be better than capsaicin and synephrine in terms of modulating lipid synthesis and up-regulating norepinephrine release), and have no known side effects.

so you think ketones would have a better chance of helping hair growth than cayenne?
Check the writeup for Virile Mane....the Raspberry Ketone studies are cited and referenced.

As he mentioned, the Cayenne - especially at a dosage that would be effective systemically - would likely tear your GI tract up.

That's the problem with something you have to take orally - it circulates and affects the entire body, not just the tissues you are trying to target.

Example - Blocking DHT locally in scalp tissue = good
Blocking DHT in the entire body = miserable males.

Posted 1/7 - my update: VM SUCKS

DSADE,

Just letting you know I am still making progress. I have added in the anti-oxidents and the Vitamin D3 and I am about 2.5 months into my VM usage. Makeing progress, slow but progress non the less. I have had some positive comments about my hair looking better too. Especially from family and people who see me all the time but don't know about the VM. So that is a good sign. Let us know when the conditioner might be available. Thanks.

Same here...things are starting to kick up again. I am comfortable with the conclusion, now, that twice a day is superior to once a day.

I'm sending 12 conditioners to Nutra on Monday.

My VM doesn't suck....

Just took pics today and despite nothing less than a full month of significant shedding which only stopped a week or two ago some areas seem to show minor improvement (I mean minor.... nothing much, it's more significant to me that after so much shedding i haven't lost ground to be honest). Looking closely I can a lot of short hairs, so when they reach full length i should gain some overall cosmetic thickness.

I am now running an epi pulse for a month so it'll be interesting to see what happens there, but I imagine steroid use aside the next couple months will yield some cosmetic thickening.

I have a question for Dsade,
I'm using VM since few days and was wondering if it would be possible to mix it with some alcohol in order to make it more fluid for easier application. Since I have lot of hair on my head and it's not easy to apply VM.
Thanks.

Yeah, you could do that. It might irritate your scalp and cause some drying, but you could definitely thin it down with some alcohol.

I'd like to get some customer feedback here, actually. This is about the 4th comment I've gotten that would prefer a thinner product. There is a new emulsifier that I can use in smaller quantities (though it's pricier) that would allow me to adjust the viscosity of the product without compromising the quality or causing clumping again.

How many would prefer a slightly thinner product?

i was wondering about a thinner product and i myself was going to add alcohol to liquidize it. If this stuff works on the back of my head and my hair grows out i prob want to cover a 3 inch radius, and i cant do that without a super mess.
