Joint/Ligament Aid

I've searched but wanted to create a new thread anyways :nono:

What do you guys feel is the best for relieving joint/ligament issues? I'm on cycle and my shoulders are pretty out of whack and my knees are a big dry also. The ligaments surrounding my shoulders are taking a beating because of rapid strength increases.

I have been considering Animal Flex, Super Cissus, Osteo-Sport. I am leaning toward Animal Flex because it is much cheaper than the others. I am open to other possibilities if you have any in mind.

1) How long would/will it take a joint and ligament supplement to have any effect? I know some stuff takes upwards of a month to work. If that's the case, I might as well not even bother as I'll be out of the woods by then.

Thanks

I have used Osteobolin-C (which is similar to Super Cissus, but 150mg less Cissus) and OsteoSport.

Personally, I noticed the elimination of joint pain and issues within a few days of using the Osteobolin-C, and again with the OsteoSport. I found the OsteoSport more convenient, because I only had to dose once daily (i.e. first thing in the morning) with 4 caps, as opposed to 10 caps dosed at 4 different times during the day (that I did with Osteobolin-C).

I would recommend OsteoSport, simply because it has a whole lot MORE in it than JUST Cissus and Vitamin C, which means that it will be more beneficial for your joints.

I haven't used Animal Flex before, so couldn't give an opinion on its effectiveness. Ingredient profile looks ok, though.

What makes Animal Flex different from other joint supplements:

Most joint supplements have the regular glucosamine/chondroitin/msm. These are effective joint supporting nutrients. Animal Flex contains these nutrients in adequate doses however it does not stop there and here is where the differences are:

Animal Flex, like other Animal supplements, is complete and comprehensive. Each pack of Animal Flex consists of several key protective complexes: (1) a potent joint construction complex to help repair connective tissue; (2) a lubrication compound to help cushion the joints from lifting; (3) a support complex to help promote rehabilitation and reduce soreness; and (4) an essential vitamin/mineral blend to underscore optimal joint health.

Animal Flex has some patented ingredients that you won’t find in other joint supplements such as CMO:

WHAT IS CETYLMYRISTOLEATE ?
Cetyl Myristoleate is an all-natural medium chain fatty acid found in only a small number of very select species of animals. Clinical experience suggests that Cetyl Myristoleate acts as an anti-inflammatory, as well as a surfactant and lubricant for damaged joints. Basically, it makes them more "slippery." This substance holds the promise of being the most effective solution to joint problems of any product ever introduced into the market. It is not habit-forming and contains no harsh chemicals or drugs that can cause side effects. It works in a natural manner by acting at the site of inflammation, is highly resistant to oxidation, it has a relatively long life in the body.

Bromelain is another ingredient that you don’t find in other joint supplements. Bromelain is useful in the treatment of a wide range of conditions, but it is particularly effective in relieving inflammation associated with infection and physical injuries.
These are just a couple of ingredients that make Animal Flex stand out.

I don't pay much mind to those type of posts ;)
Cissus does absolutely nothing for me. Staying hydrated, and taking in 4 grams of Tri-Creatine Malate, and 3 grams of Taurine every 4-5 hours always seems to help me when I'm on cycle. (As far as joints/dryness issues)

I vote for Osteobolin-C.

5% Cissus extract did wonders for me when I walked on concrete floors all day long. Knee pain that was nearly unbearable. I tried the 10% extract and it didn't have nearly the same effect. I tried animal flex first; it gave a little relief, but nothing much really, even double dosed. 5% Cissus FTW.

I havn't tried Osteo Sport, but it's on my list for Xmas. :D

Yes, it does, but I'm already eating 285 grams of fat a day, so I'm not sure how much fishoil would help.

OK, then you don't have any problems in the diet area :food:

I've used Super Cissus RX and switched over to Bulk Cissus the past few years.

I usually cycle 3 months ON and 1 month OFF but I'm going to stop cycling from here on in.

I have a bad knee so I know when it's working and the Bulk Cissus kicks in for me in less than a week. I do a sort of loading phase that first week; I'm not sure if it helps or not but I eat it like candy before 3-4 meals a day and then back off to 2-3 times daily.

Genera's 24% cissus took the creakiness out of my joints; I wasn't able to crack my neck like I used to lol but my joints didn't hurt. My dad with the sore knee & back tried Supercissus with no luck, however Celadrin + MSM worked like a charm for both my parents. That would be my vote, Invalid Link Removed .

Also for fish oils, we will be getting in a Udo's liquid fish oil pretty soon for you guys :)

I had a tear in my biceps tendon towards the front part of my shoulder. I had celebrex for 3 weeks and a cortisone shot on the 3rd. Still was rough moving around. With 6 weeks gone by i decided to get supercissus by USP and I'm actually not feeling bad. Granted with time i'm gonna get better and i am taking it 6 weeks down the road but my shoulder feels tight but isn't giving me the pain anymore. almost fills as if it is holding fluid. I started on this because i just picked up on my upper body routines. light but just workin my shoulder out and feel better than i have. I'm gonna be hittin hard as soon as possible and on a nice stack so i figured i would start dosing it now as i'm seeing the end of the tunnel. This is the only one i've tried besides my doctor givin me anti-inflamatories for my back. Animal Flex does sound good though.

Just thought Id throw this in there, I use triple strenght fish oil, and Tri-Flex, theres times my shoulder is ###ked!!!!!! works really well!

if you haven't tried cissus, i've had some success with that and have also heard good things about celadrin.

i personally have had the best results with doggcrap's shoulder stretch exercise though. my right shoulder bothered me on and off for about 2 years and i've started doing it regularly and it's been a HUGE help. I am trying to find a link for it now, you use a towel or pipe type object and basically start at the waist and go back overhead as far as you can nice and slow. I think he recommends 50 reps of that every day except the days before and after training shoulders. I usually do 15 or so between my first few warmup sets on days I train shoulders and 30 more or so at the end of the workout. Honestly, it gave me better results than any supplement has. Don't know what to tell you for knees, sorry

i don't wanna link to another forum, so I copied and pasted. The paragraph is kinda a clusterf--- but I really haven't had anything work this well for shoulders/rotator cuff, including all the stuff they show you with the band stretches for sports.

With a large towel or broomstick I want you to hold it with straight arms for the entire time of what i describe in the following movement--a large "rolled up like a rope" beach towel works good but honestly a longer broomstick (without the bristles) works best in my opinion. Start out with it with a really wide grip (with straight arms) in front of you (on your quads) and with straight arms bring it up and overhead and then down and back to the middle of your back--STRAIGHT ARMS ALL THE WAY--this is going to be very difficult and hard the first couple times out and then will be "old hat" with time----and its going to be painful in a stretching pump kind of way---i want 50 reps each time you do this--one repetition is from in front of your face (all with straight arms) to up overhead and back, and then down all the way to the middle of your back and then back up overhead to in front of your face again (again all with straight arms)--the important part of the movement is the area overhead that is really tight--do all of this carefully/slowly---dont just whip it over and back---if your hand is slipping off the broomstick even with the widest grip, or you cant bring your arms over straight and the start bending on you, you have some serious shoulder inflexibility and need to work this hard and get up to speed (or you could just need a longer broomstick too)--again do all of these revolutions controlled and carefully--push into the stretch as you go along toward the 50 revolutions, your chest will be pushing outward and your shoulders rolling back--your shoulders are going to blow up with so much blood its going to be incredibly painfull pumpwise--Do this once a day at nite as many times a week as you can---sometimes I have people do it every single day---but every time you do it try to move your grip inward (thats the key)----its going to be very hard to do but try your best to move your grip inward for the next 2-4 weeks and your range of motion with shoulders will increase dramatically and any impingement and the majority of other problems should be gone in 2 weeks--also try to move your grip in as you are doing the 50 revolutions--start off with a stretching but relatively easy 10 to warm up some, then try to move your grip in even by a centimeter if you can for the next 20 revolutions and then at 30 try to move the grip in another centimeter--really try to push what you can do stretchwise once your warmed up here--trust me this sounds easy but your going to be muttering "**** you dante" after you get to your 25th revolution--Ive cured too many shoulder problems with this simple movement now its pretty ridiculous, and this and a menthol rub applied liberally daily and before sleep has cured alot of shoulder/bicepital tendonitis in trainees ---Heres a pic attached to this post so you can get an idea (thanks to a trainee of mine who cured his shoulders with this)--but remember the broomstick goes overhead and all the way back to the middle of the back (he just drew the start of the movement when you begin)

Yeah I gotta do that DC shoulder thing. I tried is a couple days ago and couldn't even do it with my hands all the way out on a broomstick LOL

I do alot of rotating with my arms straight by my side. kinda like baseball warm ups. I start little then go big circles then i have recently been getting a 2.5 lb plate and just do side/front raises between 20-25reps and then lay on a bench and do some stretching over my head. similar to what you mentioned. Thanks for the input. I'm gonna start doing it 2nite and feel it out.

lol, i was the same way too, and if you don't do it for 4 or 5 days you can really tell. i use some kind of weird pvc pipe type thing they got in the gym that I guess is for stretching...i'm pretty sure i'm the only person under 50 to ever lay hands on it. i really like doing it between warm up sets, it gets rid of a lot of the creakiness and soreness that happens at the outset of heavy sets

Good input so far.

I should say I'm more worried about ligaments than joint pain. Joint pain is just that, pain. Ligaments are a different story. After I blasted my chest on Monday I could feel the major ligaments and tendons connecting my chest to shoulder inflaming and they are swollen enough to 'click' when I roll around my shoulders.

Yo, pick up some ester-C ;) I took a couple of those and I'm feeling REAL good... but a little horny and wild, son. I bought it off of a guy on the street.

...wait a minute... maybe he thought I said ecstasy?

But in all seriousness, vitamin C.

I almost picked up some ester-c at the store today but went with the usual orange flavored C. What's the big difference?

I feel you on that one bro. Pain is something i can live with considering joints. I can't when my ligament is torn. like basically now. I've ran superdrol/winny/anavar stack before and never took joint aid. not even fish oil. Just support supps and then clomiphine citrate and felt great. but when my shoulder tendon got phucked up. that sucks.

fish oil and lots of H20- you will begin to feel relief within 5-7 days- osteo sport may help as well- the combination of the 3 will help you recover faster- also, plylos and band exercises will help your knees and shoulders quite a bit....

I don't know why I didn't add these to this, but I use them every morning.

Bromelain extract - This is commonly used as an anti-inflammatory for the relief of joint inflammation.
Curcuma longa (Root) - Which benefites joints/tissues by addressing (neutralizing) free radicals.

There's plenty of research for these if you feel like reading. But they have been working well for since my last surgery.
Sorry, sometimes i forget exactly what I take in the morning because it's so much of a habit.

Won where? BB . com?

Puh-lease. LOL.

Haha, you got me...

Seriously though, the votes are largely based on consumer voting... Also, Animal Flex is the best-selling joint supp there and #35 overall, beating out very popular supps--many that are advertised and/or hyped.

More importantly though, it's popular even with zero advertising for the product. It sells cuz of word of mouth and results. There's a huge review thread there as well... Flex has a very, very loyal following. Animal supps are backed up by a 100% product guarantee, so really, it's win-win.
