Quest for Success vol#2 - Pumpin to the Ahhhnold

Hey Everyone. Got back from Philly this morning to go to the dentist. let me tell you...scaling and planing hurts. Don't let your gums get messed up...ever.

I don't think lifting today would be all for the best. I may take the bike out for a ride...or maybe do some yoga though. I will update later tonight and let everyone know.

PS - My left arm is gaining size...FINALLY.

Well you are putting on size in spite of all the outside stuff. The dentist huh, yuck!! I have wisdom teeth that have grown under the roots of the other teeth and into my sinus cavities. They told me they would have to cut out some of my jaw bone to get them out..guess who still has all their wisdom teeth;)!

I gotta work on shredding a bit as well as adding to my strength...but one at a time here ;).

What i'm thinkin is add some until maybe mid january or so....and then for 1.5 months til the Arnold, cut that bizznatch, haha. I am still going to eat relatively low cal...so it won't be like i'm throwing on TONS of fat.

Sound solid?

It's funny you mentioned that. Back in those pictures I posted when I just started cutting, when I had clothes on, people would tell me how huge I looked and all this stuff; however, I never had my shirt off, and I'm sure people would have told me how fat I looked if I did. BUT, now, people see me and are like, "What the hell happened, dude? You used to be jacked. You're not intimidating anymore." Yet they never see me with my shirt off, so they never see what I have underneath. It can be soooo upsetting. But whatever. It's sort of like it was a lie before, and now I have the truth, but you have to strip me down to a more pure form...persay. Whatever.

Im sure it'll be the same way once i'm at the place I want to be at by March 6...however...I won't care much at that point, haha. As long as I feel like I did myself some good, I will be happy.

I'm glad you decided to share that though. I don't know THAT many people are going into this like we did. Most are thin trying to throw some muscle on their frame. We both had some muscle to start with...and want to preserve, maybe have a little recomp effect...and slice the crap out of our fat, :aargh:

It's nice to have someone that has gone through the exact thing that i'm shooting for right now with some great success adding banter!!

Another day of absolute exhaustion. It seems like things may slow into a somewhat more normal pace now. I hate to say that since anytime I do, it's usually a recipe for disaster...but here's to hoping :cheers:

Today was an off day so no REAL update. Tomorrow is legs/forearms though and i'm kinda amped for it. I am STILL not in a gym (it's been a rough few weeks), so real squats are still unattainable....but I can do things to make up for it for now. Last week after my 2ft step up's with calf raise at the end...my legs were feelin quite nice ;). I think tomorrow I will add in some BW one legged box squats also.

I also start T-911 tomorrow. Excited to see what all the fuss is about ;)

You should come to Ohio and train with me a day. You can even bring the kettle balls and teach me something new. I need something new and fun I'm burning out.

Bring the family and make a weekend of it. There are tons of Halloween things going on. The gym has childcare. I've always wanted to learn kettleballs.

edited to add: I'm losing mass muscle after coming off the var and i need something to shock the muscles.

Started taking T-911 yesterday. Didn't feel all that much from the first day...however...I also did not lift. I am doing legs in about a half hour so we'll see how it effects me today :)

Also started use of Phosphatidyl Serine today. Giving it a month's run to see how I feel about it. A few very influential voices for me promote it pretty hard :)
 
10/24/08 - Day 19

Overview : Hello Hello and welcome to a real update. Jeez man...this not working out stuff is LAMMMEEEEE! My girlfriends brother is being released tomorrow from the hospital after having yet another Angeogram today. He still has a bit of the AVM remaining in his brain and excess stress is causing him to trigger seizure activity. They will be setting up a gamma knife procedure soon and hopefully all will be well. I feel really bad for the guy. He's only 23 and has already been through a brain surgery and about 50 seizures...and now soon another brain surgery. I just hope this one can fix him!

Did legs and forearms today and it felt really good to be working out. My workout was awkwardly split with part of it being for strength/mass and part being for endurance/stability. It worked out well and I felt great. I honestly wanted to gear more towards the cardio end today but on a leg day...I dare not even think about that, haha. Tomorrow I may go ahead and add some low intensity cardio after my lifts. I am feeling awfully F-A-T lately and need to change it!

I hope your girl's brother is able to recover after all of the surgeries. That's so much to go through at such a young age. He'll battle through it and come out on top though.

Thanks, I hope he'll be alright too! I think things will end up okay in the end...just a very trying time right now.

Yeah I totally dig SLDL's. That pull in the Hammies is a completely undeniable feeling altogether! I like to stretch it out right when i'm done with the workout....such a good feeling! I've also always thought that static stretches post w/o like yoga really help the blood continue to flow into and out of those muscles. :)

10/25/08 - Day 20

Overview : Today was my long day where I go from normal life into doing a few overnight shifts. Supposedly this is going to come to a halt as of this coming monday. I will be doing straight 3p-12a shifts for 6 weeks and then a different shift, etc. I don't know how much I believe it just yet...but we'll see.

I also have a good opportunity arising in nearby Allentown, PA for teaching group Kettlebell Sessions! Looks like i'll be doing 2 classes a week (maybe more depending on interest) to start and then working out the kinks from there. Had a long talk with the gym owners today and I am heading there to check out the facility Tuesday. Totally pumped about that :)!

If you get to teach the kettle bell class at that gym, that means free gym membership doesn't it? Start lifting without the constraints of the home equipment. Good things are coming, good things.

Well I have to agree that I think good things are coming :)

I actually have another kind of mini update, haha. I think i'll be at a different gym to actually workout because I am going to be training someone personally that is looking to be in football shape by walk on tryout's for next season. That should be fun :)

Best would naturally be both, but if you had to do just one I'd say meals. That way we can get a guesstimate as to what your macros are with the all important 'when you're eating them.'
