It has nothing to do with protesting.
And I do call my black friends nigga, as well as my white, asian, etc friends. The word is not derogatory in all context's.
Sometimes it would be acceptable, and other times it would not. Chatting with some buddies on an Internet forum, would be an acceptable medium; however, going into a thread and castigating a user because of his skin color or sexual preference would not be acceptable.
Heck turn on the TV and you see race and sexual preferences part of humor all the time. I believe those afraid to comment are the real racists.
But hey I am not debating you, just sharing my perspective. And this is another prime example that does not allow members to effectively voice their opinions or hold debates, because people are too uptight and take everything so personal or as a challenge to their intelligence.

That is her log, and if she has a problem with it, I am sure she would express her dissatisfaction. You have something specific to ask, and scared it will get lost in the thread. Send them a PM and post it in the thread. Not all that difficult.
Is it hurting you? So, should we ban emoticons, image posting and the like? or should we just go to a static, plain text format?
It is what it is. An interactive forum. Keyword interactive. Like I said, I see more redundant, irrelevant posts about supplement giving blue balls. You know what? I don't read them. And sometimes looking for something you stumble on something else that you might have never known from a random conversation, but no one felt compelled to start an entire thread on something that they did not think was worth an new thread devoted to it?
Do you call radio stations and dictate what songs they can and cannot play, or do you just change the station? Go to another thread if you have an issue.
Do not knock unless you have tried it. Just because you don't find something funny, does not mean others are not entitled to find a subject humorous.

i'm sorry if i've ever offended anyone. sometimes i'm just on the wrong thread at the wrong time of night when alcohol is involved.
but in my defense, 99% of my posts are directed at providing valuable forum discussion and contribution.
the other 1% is just for fun and certain threads seem more open to this. can't see why this is a problem as long as it stays centered on certain threads and doesn't get out and infect the rest of the board.

You have to keep in mind that your intentions are not always easily read via the medium of posting...ie that tone is often hard to asses.
For me, this is not a debate as to whether you can joke around and call each other derogatory names...though B5150 might feel differently. But there is no doubt that homosexuals bear the brunt of a lot of animosity whether it's intentional or whether you're claiming to be just joking around.
By the very nature of claiming your buddy is a "fag" as a joke pretty much automatically calls his manhood into question as it's a weapon we've all been taught to use to off-balance our male friends. BUT there is a problem with using this as often and as cavalier as this board does...many a homosexual man is proud of his masculinity just the same as you and I are. Many a homosexual BBer puts in the same hard work and dedication as the straight BBers, but the minute the former admits his preferences he'd be considered "less manly".
There's a connotation behind the terms that you cannot deny. To be gay is to be weak. To be a fag is to be effeminate. This is not always true and it likely deters a good number of men and women from enjoying the sport openly and that's kind of a shame.

Deliberately disrespecting other members or picking fights has never been allowed on this board. At a mere suggestion from Admin to improve etiquette on the board there's already claims of victimhood.
Can't take a suggestion..that's fine. I'll let Admin decide how they wish their board to presented and run.

Like it or not, by sheer volume of traffic this board now more or less represents not only BBing but most other fitness interests as well. I think we should put some thought into how we wish to represent.

I don't think I need to rationalize or remind you that virtually no one finds the goat humor funny. Most people may not be as vocal as I am, but goat jokes are about as retarded as they come. 'Oh gee, an animal...and....a sex joke too!...tee hee hee.' Yeah real hilarious. You'd be hard pressed to find even a 5 yr old to think something like that is funny. Let's be honest, I am 23 yrs old and I think it is completely fcuking retarded. What really is the humor involved ? Is it the joke about goats itself, or the fact that they are being made by individuals older than I am ? I'm gonna choose the latter.

I think the whole point of the thread was to just say "Grow up and treat the board with some respect" Because you may act in a certain way with your friends has no bearing on how you should act here. This is not only your spot but thousands of others. Most of the offenders are fairly new, so please have some respect for those that have been here and are not entertained by goat jokes, derogatory name calling and the likes. Remember kiddies there are some adults on the board also.

I agree with alot of whats being said but unfortunately and inevitably(sp?) someone will be offended.Thats just how things go but trying to be respectful of others,their threads and feelings (when possible) is a good practice.
