Reputation function has been enabled!

Title says it all. Here are some of guidelines the system will follow for now. This is subject to change.

For every 30 days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

For every 25 posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

For every 20 points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

How many posts must a user have before his reputation hits count on others? 25

How much reputation must a user have before his reputation hits count on others? 25

How many reputation clicks can a user give over each 24 hour period? 5

How many different users must you give reputation to before you can hit the same person again? 10



We will see how these settings play out and I will alter them if need be.

I am working on limiting forum use for reputation but its a custom hack so it will take some time.

Board supporters, Gold Members can SEE who left reputation. Registered members cannot.

I just wanted to post so I could see how many rep points I have.

I am not too familure with them but why does Tatoo up above have more posts but less rep points than Hypo up above.

I am guessing it is because alot of Tatoos posts were in an area of the board where a person does not get rep points for the posts they make?

Your rep points are based on mostly what other people give you. Although post count plays a very SMALL role in gaining points you can gain points but its miniscule compared to what you receive fomr quality posts.

In Hypos case, I repped him which means it gives him 10 points rather than 1.

When admin's rep, its 10 points given.

Ha...those are the default ones. I can change it to whatever people want. It doens't work in Firefox though. I had to use IE to see it.

It's almost a system of censorship as if you state something that goes against the norm you'll be neg repped and those who contribute to the typical brotelligence get added reps. Almost ensures conformity for fear of reprisal or reprimand. This system seems to confer a sense of credibility but I've seen erroneous posts by those with high reps/karma and the refutations put forth by users will lower reps are easily dismissed.

Right on. So many are in an uproar over this like it's going to bring down AM. It's a pat on the back, a way of saying "Good post" without cluttering up a thread. If people pay just see who repped them, I would request them to keep their $10.

Its simply more functions availabe to those who donate and appreciate the board. Just like the Shoutbox, PM's, Who's Online, bigger quota's, etc....

I would rather give those functions to those members then the ones that bash you elswhere yet still find it hard to leave such a bad baord like AM.
