Wife Has COVID-19

I realize people like that exist and I'm sorry for that. It's inexcusable. But regarding the vaccines, I'm just going by what we've been told they would do from the beginning. From preventing infection, to preventing spread, anything else in between, to preventing serious illness and death. All wrong. Then the ridiculous White House garbage recently put out that my family and I are in for a winter of horrible illness and death because we're not vaccinated. Horrible leadership. And it looks like, at least in the UK only, they all are in for a world of hurt too.

Either way, maybe things are different in the UK? I don't know. But the numbers are the numbers and they don't look good. Like @HIT4ME had said previously, do we really believe the first 3 vaccines that came out are the best we can do? It's logical they aren't. No drug ever is.

i am fighting hard for my natural immunity to be recognized as alternate to vaccines--i live in indiana and my congressman is republican Larry Buschon M.D...i have conversed with him by email several times and he agrees that vaccines should not be forced on anyone and especially those who have natural immunity from having covid--MR.Buschon is a great guy, and it doesn't hurt that he is also a M.D.

I also want to add to this, and clarify, that when I said the vaccines aren't doing a great job, I meant that, nothing more. I believe they are doing a fair to good job, but that's not enough for a disease this deadly.

I get the feeling for you it’s equivalent to asking a cop in a rough area who has been doing doubles what the neighborhood is like. That is no slight to you; merely stating you are in a tough and somewhat unique position.

Happy there are people like you out there helping people, I just hope you don’t get burned out and become apathetic or disillusioned. Stay strong brother!

I think it’s pretty fair to say treating them as an end all be all destroy the bill of rights is pretty out of line. I have seen estimates of 60-80% of deaths could have been avoided with repurposed medicines and actively treating people before they get sick enough to go to people like our friend @Ricky10. From looking at our numbers vs other countries who are proactive I would say those numbers seem legitimate.
 
everytime i go into town i see mentally ill people mostly homeless, even in the small town i live on the outskirts of...it is irrational to think there aren't mentally ill people catching covid and ending up in emergency rooms...it is also highly probable that they aren't going to be vaccinated.
if a mentally ill person shoots up a mall i don't label all gun owners as bad because of what a mentally ill person did-although i am sure there are plenty who do.

I mentioned to my wife the possibility of moving if PA gets worse and it freaked her out. One of the states I mentioned I would move to is Indiana. She doesn’t want to think about moving. Can’t blame her. I told her “we are a country they was built on people looking for a better life” and she proceeded to not give a **** about that hahaha

How long ago was your infection? It seems that antibodies from prior covid infections may start to reduce after a period of 6 months similar to what looks to be the case with vaccinations. In either case protection against infection from Omicron appears to be similarly low with two vaccine doses and with having a prior infection, so either way vaccine passports are not really making sense to any degree as only those with a booster shot appear to actually be protected to any degree against omicron infection.

After two doses, vaccine effectiveness against symptomatic Omicron infection ranged from 0 per cent to 20 per cent. Following a booster shot, effectiveness ranged from 55 per cent to 80 per cent.

Based on the report's analysis of individual risk factors, the odds of reinfection with Omicron are 5.4 times greater than those with Delta.

Healthcare workers exposed to SARS-CoV-2 in the pre-Omicron era had 85 per cent protection against a second infection over six months after the infection, according to a study, while "the protection against reinfection by Omicron afforded by past infection may be as low as 19%."

my roots were in indianapolis, when my wife convinced me to leave it was hard-but indianapolis had become too fuckedup, even has a democrat mayor-the 1st i can ever remember...but get out of shythole indy and rest of the state is red as a roosters head.

getting out of indy was a brilliant move, my wife is a smart lady. i love the small town life we life now...we left in 2008, and indy is much worse now than when we left.

my wife and i both tested positive for covid back in march-it was the really long swab that the nurse said would tickle my brain...we are fortunate to have a large property that borders a huge lake, so we isolated/quarantined for the 14 days that was then recommended--our kids and friends would leave us groceries and supplies at end of lane-we followed the rules explicitly even though our symptoms were VERY, mild.

my wife had just turned 63 and i was 62...we stayed active while quarantined and 6 months later i ran my 1st 7k race.

we have been exposed to several people who have tested positive so we have been tested twice since recovering from covid and both times-negative....maybe it is the lifestyle we lead-outdoors a lot-country life, but covid was not that bad at all for us.

Interesting little study. The study's authors certainly reach different potential conclusions compared to the commentary you attached which suggests increased infection risk due to vaccines. I can't say that their conclusion necessarily makes any sense though.

The negative estimates in the final period arguably suggest different behaviour and/or exposure patterns in the vaccinated and unvaccinated cohorts causing underestimation of the VE. This was likely the result of Omicron spreading rapidly initially through single (super-spreading) events causing many infections among young, vaccinated individuals.

I live in the suburbs but I am right in between Trenton NJ and Philadelphia. Can get to either in like 15 minute drive time. Funny that’s what I always loved about where I am since I can get to say a sixers game or concert at the Camden water front rather quick…now the closeness to the city is what I don’t like. PA and many states are similar to what you say. It’s said between Pitt and Philly is essentially Alabama.

i remember back in early 70s seeing most of the great classic bands at indiana convention center for $5, in 74 traveling to chicago to see pink floyd for around $10 and in 76 seeing led zeppelin at the old market square arena for $17. when i was stationed at san diego saw alice cooper and ac/dc on halloween night at the old jack murphy stadium for $20..used to see the old ABA pacers play at the fairgrounds coliseum for $5. later on went to a lot of nba pacer games at the old market square arena for $12. saw a ton of colts games at the old hoosier dome[RCA dome], and then a bunch of peyton colts games at lucas oil...

my concert days are over and the only sport i watch these days is nascar and tbh i am just about done with it too....i have no interest in city life...hunting, fishing, running, lifting, shooting at the legion range with my vet buddies and grandkids are how i am spending my retirement...i am literally living the life i dreamed of years ago.

I saw the graph how it suggests a decreased immunity to omicron infection post vaccination. I'm just not convinced at this point that this study isn't an outlier so I'll wait for studies to corroborate these results before lending too much credence to it.

When then the vaccin came out they said it was protecting from hospitalization /death in 95% of cases. Now it seems it’s down to 70% or so. Therefore more vaccinated you have more vaccinated death. ou will have among the 30% mo responder. Flu vaccin has a protection of 50% if I’m not mistaken and it’s a yearly vaccin.

You got Covid last year if remember right. Do you still have some immunity left? Did you do a serology test? If not saying you ate naturally immune now is pure speculation.

you'd have to get more than just antibodies tested unfortunately. there's some T cell test I guess

I recall the story being if you get vaccinated you won’t get Covid. Have to double check but I believe Biden said that. I do have a saved tweet from him saying “it’s simple; get the vaccine or wear a mask.”

In Europe the communication from Pfizer and Moderna And Health authorities was that it avoid hospitalization up to 95% more or less.

Right but if someone wants to fight to have his natural immunity from previous infection to
be recognized then he has to proof to whoever it concerns that he has actually a naturally immunity and not just based on a previous infection.

this is not how other countries do it. you can either be confirmed symptomatic and recovered, or you can do the antibody test. I think this is how Israel does recovery passports

Recovery from Covid gives you a pass for
6months only. T least here in Europe. In Switzerland you can have the pass after this 6 months if you show up a serology test proofing your immunity. But the serology has to be repeated every 3 months. I don’t know about Israel.

wrong-march of this year...if you would have read my whole post instead of cherry picking the part you wanted to see just for arguments sake, you would know that i have been tested twice since i recovered from covid when i was in contact with people who tested positive.

both my wife and i had such mild symptoms, neither of us have any fear of re-infection---out biggest fear of reinfection is to not have any symptoms and spread to others unknowingly...and this is why we will continue to be tested when we have been in contact with anyone we have been in close contact with who tests positive.

btw-just so that you and everyone else knows my wife and i ALWAYS wear masks when in public, i don't want to argue about effectiveness, we just personally think it is the responsible thing to do---although we both are against mandates.

I’m starting to see these cases pop up more in fully vaxxed, young, healthy, people. Hard to know if they are real, but if they are, I feel they may be the top of the iceberg of antibody dependent enhancement. I spoke to a PHd ans he said he thinks omicron is very mild if you’re healthy, but has mutated enough that it’s basically a new virus that will hit the vaxxed very hard. I honestly hope not, but this has been predicted by many if so.

are you familiar with how Pfizer, moderna, and j&j have an enzyme that locks them into the pre fusion stage? this is what people say prevents ADE. I guess astrazenica doesn't have this in it

lol...my wife and i tested positive in march around 10 months ago and have been around people who have tested positive several times---and we are old and unvaxxed--but we are probably healthier than many young people---i guess we just have superior genes? 😇
